My Mac (Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5) downloads the newest version of Adobe, but Adobe does not seem to be working, as I cannot download the pdf documents I need (and I get yet another message stating I need to download the newest version of Adobe). Everytime I try, I get a message saying it will not download. I have tried to download the newest Adobe version dozens of times. WHat is not working?

...of Adobe what ? Adobe is the name of the company that literally offers hundreds of different software products, each of which has a specific name. Unless you tell us what you downloaded, we have no idea what "does not work".

It requires you to have Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6) installed, which can be obtained from the Apple Store.
You being on Mac OS X 10.4 makes it an old system, 10.6 and 10.7 require an Intel processor at least with Lion demanding an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor.

I'm trying to download the trial version of Adobe Illustrator. An error message says that the OS does not meet the minimum system requirements for the installer. 10.6.0 is the minimum required for installation. How do I get my mac to be a 10.6.0 ? Right now I have a 10.5.8 is there a way to upgrade or something?
Buy the Snow Leopard retail installer (http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A?fnode=MTY1NDAzOA).
That will take you to 10.6.3.
If required you can then use the combo updater to get to the latest version, 10.6.8 (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399)

If you ordered Acrobat via subscription, then you can use either Windows or Mac version. Just download/install the Mac version, then activate it with your Adobe ID.

Do you see an error when you try to open the iTunes Store on your Mac?

However, this does not change the fact that you should ALWAYS have a backup copy of everything in your computer, including itunes.
You should ALWAYS make sure that your backup copy of your computer is up to date before any update, restore, etc. -

I continue to get the error message that I cannot open a pages file until I download the newest version. I have downloaded the version. The apple store recognizes that I have downloaded the version and yet, pages will not open the files.
What next?You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5.2 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.2 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Older versions of Pages 5 can not open files from later versions of Pages 5.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud and opened in a newer version of Pages is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has removed almost 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

Using bootcamp (windows 2002 xp) I down loaded adobe flash player from the windows platform. told me it installed successfully. however does not work in windows, does works in mac. in xp there is no created program folder for such or created short cut. In the control panel (xp) in add/delete programs it is listed but wihout any file size or frequency used. I've deleted & reinstalled numerous times. Mac OS is 10.6.8. Windows is 32 bit. Can't find a thing that discusses this. THANKS!

I am not able to update firefox on my mac 10.7.5. I am also not able to download the newest version.
I get notices indicating the there are upgrades available but whenever I try to update, it fails. The box showing the update just runs and runs, but never completes. This has happened numerous times. I have Firefox 9.0.1 and it says I am currently on the release update channel. I don't know what that means.
If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then best is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
