My Mac OS X will not update past 10.5.8!

I am on a Mac OS X and it is currently updated to a 10.5.8 and won't update when I click on system update. I can't buy Snow Leopard from Apple and I want Mountain Lion so I can buy iMovie '11. But you have to have at least 10.6.8 to get Mountain Lion! Help!

To upgrade from OS X 10.5.8, you must buy Snow Leopard on disc. It is not available to download from any legitimate source.
Online (US): http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
Apple's price is $19.99.
Once installed, upgrade Snow Leopard to the latest version using Software Update. You will then have OS X 10.6.8 installed.

  • Will not update past VS910ZV7

My Revo will not update past sw version VS910ZV7.  Checking for software updates manually does nothing.  It appears the latest version out is VS910ZV9.  How can I get my phone to update??

        Magicshews,
Jeepers! Software updates are created to make sure yoru device has the best user experience, so lets get this fixed!  I would recommend powering off the phone>removing the battery from the device for 2 min> place the battery back in the device>power on the device. The device will power back on with original software and will prompt you once again to install the system update. Hope this helps!

  • IPad 1 will not update past iOS 5.1.1, many apps require iOS 6.0 or later. also since updating to 5.1.1 safari frequently crashes.

My IPad 1 will not update past iOS 5.1.1, however many apps require iOS 6.0 or later what can I do?
Also, since updating to 5.1.1 Safari frequently crashes.  Help!!!!!!

5.1.1. is the end of the line for the original iPad. You can't go beyond that. As for the safari crashes, is it tied to specific websites? Have you tried clearing the cache and history?

  • HT1338 MacBook pro will not update past 10.5.8

What can I do if my MacBook pro will not update past OS X 10.5.8
When I check for software updates, it says there are no updates and it is up to date.

OS X 10.5.8 is the last update for that version. If you need to go to a OS X 10.6 then you are going to have to purchased a DVD for the upgrade.

  • Mac app store will not update my apps

I try repeatedly to update aperture to 3.x.x and the app store keeps saying there has been an error and try again later ... for about 2 months!

    Thanks for your response ...
Aperture was purchased from app store. Was updated to 3.2.1 and again to 3.2.3 but will not update to 3.3
I get an ' error at app store, can not update at this time (13)'
Just wondering if it's on my end or something at the app store.
Why would the app store inform me of the update but not let me get it?
    Best regards, T.

  • Pismo will not update past 10.4.3

I have a g3 power book pismo, 400 mhz running Tiger that I bought on ebay. It has been upgraded to 512 mb of RAM and a 90 G hard drive (80 G available). Has operated flawlessly, however I recently noticed that software update has not updated Tiger at all. I currently have 10.4.3. I downloaded the 10.4.10 combo installer for PPC, however I get the following error message when I select my hard drive as the destination volume:
Installing this software requires 512 mb of space.
You cannot install Mac OS X Update Combined (PowerPC) on this volume. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update.
I was perfectly happy without the update, until my .mac syncing stopped working due to an update. Now, my iCal and other apps are not syncing with my new iMac. Any suggestions on how I can get this update going?

My advice is don't do it.  With all the problems with .3 you would be best to stay at .2 version.  Unless you need multicam support.  If you have old projects, you likely will fall into the re-rendering problem.

  • IPhoto 9.2.1 update from Mac App Store will not update from 9.1.5

I downloaded the iPhoto 9.2.1 update from Mac App Store.
When I try to update from 9.1.5 to 9.2.1, I get the message: "The version of iPhoto installed on this Mac must be updated through the Mac App Store."
Since the Mac App Store is where I downloaded the update from, I don't know how exactly to proceed.
    Any suggestions?

    Terence and Peter,
I have iPhoto 9.1.5 which was installed on my iMac that I received November, 2011.
My wife has the 9.2.1 version of iPhoto on her MacBook Pro which she bought months before I bought my iMac.
My iPhoto library opens fine in 9.1.5 on my iMac but will not open the copy of her iPhoto library that I copied to my iMac. We have two libraries and I want the same one she has instead of two separate libraries.
I went to the Mac App Store and downloaded iPhoto9.2.1 Update.dmg to my desktop.
I then opened the .dmg and clicked on the iPhoto9.2.1Update.pkg.
The install iPhoto Update window started to open briefly before the Alert message "The version of iPhoto installed on this Mac must be updated through the Mac App Store. Check the Mac App Store to see if an update is available" appeared.
I checked the MAS and found this link and this is what I downloaded: http://support.apple.com/downloads#iPhoto%209.2.1

  • 1st gen iPod Touch will not update past 1.1.5

I am sure this question has been asked before and probably answered but I have tried just about everything I can think of and I cannot get an update past 1.1.5. I have restored my unit and downloaded firmware files for 2.2 and 3.1 but both give me an error trying to update. I know I have to purchase the update but I cannot find a way to do it through iTunes. It says my device is fully updated.

You can purchase the update here:

  • Mac Mail Inbox will not update

I have a user using a Macbook Air running Mavericks.  He has three accounts setup in mac mail.  2 are gmail accounts he's had in there for months.  The third is our exchange account which he's added more recently (only be in mail for the past 2-3 months vs 8-9 with the others).  Today he stopped recieving email in his exchange inbox, but only in mac mail.  He can still send email fine and recieves email in our web portal and on his iphone.
I tried removing the exchange account and re-adding it but that did not help.  It download 6 mails into the inbox and then stopped.  I then changed the name of the account from Exchange to his name and clicked save.  As soon as I did that, it downlaoded 5 new email and then just stopped again.  Manually clicking get mail does nothing.  I also tried changing th eaccount prefrences to check mail once every minute and five minutes vs automatically but neither helped.  It can still send emails just fine and his iphone/web portal work just fine (sending/recieving).
One of the two other gmail accounts works just fine with full functionality.  The other is an account that got disabled within the past week (not sure exactly when).  So it has no functionality as far as sending/recieving goes.  I dont want to remove the disabled box, because he wants the emails from there.  I havnt had a chance to export them or anything but I will try that soon and THEN remove the account.  but it should work without having to do this, shouldnt it?  Or do you think this might be causing mail to hang when checking the exchange account?
    Any other suggestions/options?
    Any help would be appreciated.

Removing the account will only delete the emails on the mail.app, meaning they should still be on the actual website from which you receive mail.  Try selecting the mailbox that doens't work and go to the menu bar and hit mailbox>rebuild.  If this doesn't work immediately don't give up.  It has to download all the emails again and how soon you will see them again depends on how many you have.
    Hope this helps,
         Jack

  • I have a second generation ipod touch that will not update past version 3.1.3, when i check updates it says it is up to date but im quite sure i should be able to get at least a 4.2 ios update. If someone could please help id really appreciate it!!

I have made sure that my ipod is second generation, and i have tried to resotr it twice to fix the problem. I'm getting a little bit frustrated with it. I went to the apple store in metrotwn and the gentlemen didnt even look at the ipod, just told me that it was maybe to old of a generation to support updates. Funny thing is my boyfriend had it before me and he updated it past 3.1.3 no problem.

    - Are you sure you have a 2G iPod and not a 1G? Yucan can itell the difference here by the shape of the black antenna cover on the back of the iPOd.

  • First Gen. iPad Will Not Update Past 4.2.1

My boss has a first generation iPad (model MC349LL) and has never updated the software. We are trying, through iTunes to update the software from 4.2.1 to 5.1.1; however, we receive an error message stating "iTunes could not contact the iPad software update server because you are not connected to the Internet. Make sure your Internet connection is active and try again." Our internet connection is active on both computers and the iPad. We have tried to update on five different computers and still receive the same message. Each computer is equipped with iTunes version 11.3.0.54. We have gone through the iPad and reset all settings, network settings, and erased all content and settings. Obviously, he is out of the complimentary "Apple Support" period, we are quite far from the closest Apple store, and upgrading to a more recent model is not an option for him. Any ideas on how to update would be appreciated.

You should erase the iPod (settings>GeneralReset>Erasase all Content and Settings) or connect to iTunes and restore to factory settings/new iPod.

Is your iPad a generation one ipad? if so, then 5.1.1 is the max operating system for that device.
