My mac pro 13 takes longer than normal to start?
My mac pro 13 takes longer than normal to start. What do I need to do to speed up the start up process?
with "normal" are you comparing it to other MacBooks? or to your model in the past?
installing a SSD would increase the boot up time a lot if you don't have one already...
also check what apps you have set to automatically open on startup because some/a lot will slow the startup down

Power on MacBook Pro takes me to login screen. All user icons appear as normal. Once I enter password for myself (administrator) spinning takes longer than normal and doesn't log in but displays a no sign (circle w line through it) when attempting to login from guest account it takes me to screen that says that the computer will restart to a safe safari system for the guest user. I waited for a longer time and the grey denim screen comes up. By the apple in left upper corner it said I think LSA? Then safari menu bar. The page it loads to us file:///System/Installation/CDIS/Mac%2005%20X%20Utilities.app/Contents/Resource s/English.iproj/GuestLoginInfirmation.html
Can someone HELP? I'm afraid I might do something wrongWhat backups do you have?

My mac pro takes long to switch on
Recently I moved from one country which uses 240V to a country that uses 110V
I noticed that I need to push the power button a couple of times to turn it on. Once it's on it works perfectly.
Can someone guide me if there is a problem or not and what I can do to switch it on with just one push?
Many thanks
JeffHi Jgalear4m,
If you are having unusual behavior from the power button on your Mac Pro, you may want to try resetting the System Management Controller (SMC). You may find the following article helpful:

Ipod Classic 120GB takes longer than normal to sync
Since updating my iTunes my 120GB iPod Classic seems to take a while to sync or does it rather erratically. I mean it starts syncing and iTunes will say "syncing" and the ipod window will simply say "connected" then it will revert back to saying "syncing in progress". Could that mean something might be wrong with it?
Bearing in mind I had to wipe my laptop with Windows 7 the other day and reinstall everything.
Everything does sync up but Im worried about the time it takes to sync and the conflicting image screens I get

Data Set copy takes longer than normal, nothing happens
Hello guys,
I've Server 2012 Std. (was migrated from 2K8 R2 to 2012 Std.) with SCDPM 2012 SP1.
Following components are installed: KB2822782, KB2853210, KB2877075, KB2886362.
Since ca. 171 hours the data set copy runs, nothing happens since that. Transferred data is sill on 536.879.13 MB.
Has anyone had it already?
Regards
RodiSorry i don't really know how to access the boot messages? All other distros stored this information in /var/log/boot but i assume Arch doesn't :-/

It's because the PowerMac G5 had HUGE bandwidth with a fat BUS on each processsor so they could run hard, hot and heavy.
It's not so with the Intel processors which are multi-core and share a common bus thus bottleneck.
The newer Intel processors can do more work on the CPU, but when it comes to in/out they are s-l-o-w.
I've had a wickedly fast dual processor (not dual core) G5, RAID 0 pair of 10,000 RPM drives as boot and a fast video card, I could do a lot very very fast.
You'll likely have to upgrade to Final Cut X to get more cores utilized, prepare to cry a little bit, Apple is working on the features they stripped out of it to make amends to pro users who complained loudly. (all over TV too)

TS2002 my mac pro takes a long time to start up!
i had my mac pro for less than a year.
i updated it to lion.
now, my mac heats up very fast, the fans won't stop running, and my startup seems to get slower and slowerI assume that's 117°F ?
Could be many things, we should start with this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
If 10.7.0 or later...
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partitirion & use Disk Utility from there.
Then I'd get Lion Cache Cleaner & clear the caches...

MacBook pro takes more than 10 minutes to start with ML ?
My Macbook pro takes more than 10 minutes to start. I press Start and it takes more than 10 minutes before I can enter my password. Need your help !
Sounds like time for a PRAM reset. Here's how:
1. Power down the machine.
2. Locate the following keys on your keyboard in preparation for Step 4:
‘command’ – ‘option’ – ‘P’ – ‘R’
3. Press the ‘power on’ button.
4. Immediately – and before the grey screen appears – hold down ‘command-option-P-R’ all together.
5. Keep them held down until you’ve heard the start-up chime twice. After you release them you should hear it again, and hopefully your Mac will boot up as normal. -

Hi - my 2011 Mac Pro no longer recognizes devices in the usb ports, I've been told it's the logic board. is there a way I can connect the iomega external hard drive to it through the firewire or thunderbolt ports?

Ok, fair enough. But since Job's death - Apple's control on leaks has been terrible. I got the new iPhone, and I like it - but it hasn't made nearly as big as an impression as previous ones. Because of the vast ammount of leaks. With the iPad mini leaks, it's 99% sure to come out next week.
Apple uses many manufacturers and it's massive also websites prefer to report on Apple whether true or false because it brings more hits.
Amd by "others" I meant other people on iPads - not other devices/manufacturers. It's possible to do so, I just want to know how. I honestly don't think we'll ever be in a Post-PC era until all tablets allow us to use USB in the way computers do.
No, USB is not the future, you missed the memo about cloud and wireless computing? -
Why outlook2011 mac version* takes long time to boot with OSX
why outlook2011 mac version* takes long time to boot with OSX
Okay, so after doing all of the above, the computer still takes between 40 seconds and 1 minute or so to boot up, and the VersionCue messages still appear. However I discovered that the "kdcmond cannot retrieve..." messages disappeared after I disabled my ethernet connections. So at least I know that that had nothing to do with the extended boot-up time.
I have heard that the more RAM you have, the longer it takes to boot due to the RAM count. Since I have 10 GB, maybe this is why?
I've included the most recent Console messages below:

Importing mpgs takes longer than it should
Importing mpgs takes longer than it should. I import 2 hr mpgs on a 6core 32gig ram machine & it takes too long. cs5.52
Wow. Sounds like a nice machine Steve. How long does a 2hr mpg take to import?
I just tested it out, and for me it takes about 5 min. ...which, in my opinion, is still too long, and should take no longer than it does to import something into PPro.
I understand your frustration there.
I think I mentioned before that Encore uses mp2 DVD files best. If you import things as mp2 or the DVD m2v file format, there is virtually no import time, and you do not have to transcode everything.
That said, unless there are things going on under the hood that I don't know/understand, I still agree that importing video files to timelines in Encore should take no longer than importing into Premiere. We don't need Encore to author or transcode until we're ready to export. -

SInce upgrading to OS 8.0.2 my ipad 2 freezes, slows down, safari takes forever to open pages, cellular network goes to No Service requiring a reboot (and this takes longer than before), in summary, I now have a fancy paperweight, i used to love my ipad. I feel as if Microsoft has taken charge of the Apple Software Division.
Sorry if someone sees this post in a different thread; Just want to get some additional exposure.. Who knows, maybe someone from Apple will take note..
The glitchy, unresponsive, slow and outright crashes are something you would expect in a less superior product. I paid what I consider a premium because of the perceived integrity of the company and quality of their products. I am not going to go as far to say Apple ***** and so do their products; but they have to to a better job of acknowledging problems and providing recourse. Right now, it "feels" like they don't care about existing customers. I am not sure of the exact #'s, but I believe products like the Ipad2 represent a significant population of their existing Ipad product base.
So what is my specific rant; If Apple is going to take a long time, or worst, NOT fix the problems introduced in IOS 8 for IPAD 2, give us the option of going back to IOS 7. I would say most everyone was extremely happy with their product running under that OS and would migrate back in a heartbeat. By blocking this option, it feels like Apple is saying that the only recourse is to live with crappy performance, wait forever without any real news, or throw away your Ipad 2 and buy a newer model. Right now this is 100% completely unacceptable, and I, as will thousands of others, will watch how this unfolds when we do buy new products. Most technology products only have short, finite lifespan and I would think it is at very least very important to Apple to retain customer base in a highly competitive marketplace. I'm done...
