My mac pro does not support boot camp (somehow)?

So for some reason every time I try and open the boot camp assistant I get this message "Boot camp assistant can not be used, This Mac does not support Boot Camp". I find this vary confusing as it should be able to (or so I assume as boot camp came pre installed). I don't Have a RAID set or even a RAID card for that matter. All the HD's are formatted to Mac OS Extended (Journaled). I'm not sure what else Im missing. I would consider using Parallels like on my macbook only that I'm trying to test out some rather graphic intensive games to see wether or not I want to build a gaming rig in the future, and virtual machines have this nasty habit of cutting my power in half.
Boot camp is 5.1.3
computer specs
Mac Pro (Mid 2010)
OSX 10.10.2
Processor: 2 x 2.66 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon
Memory: 24 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 ECC
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 2048 MB

Any help is much appreciated, thank you

I do not know if this will help:

  • Late 2012 iMac 3TB does not support Boot Camp Assistant

Got my new customized iMac 27' yeasterday. After installing some soft, I decided to install Windows 7 as second OS on Boot Camp. After clicking the Boot Camp Assistant icon, programm opens, and immediately it shows error "Boot Camp Assistaint does not support Windows installation on this iMac 3TB" or something like that (I have a russian version of dashboard/OS). Only option available at that moment - button "OK", which exits Boot Camp A|ssistant.
So... Any suggestions on how to solve the problem? I really need Windows as second OS, and don't want to install it like a virtual/emulator machine.
My customized iMac "loadout" is Core i7 3.4, 16Gb DDR, Nvidia GeForce 680MX 2Gb, 3TB Hard Drive.
P.S. I thought this may be solved by separating Hard Drive into partitions (main, which is for Mac OS, and little tome for Windows, formated into MS DOS FAT system), still - this has not helped me.

There is a thread covering this subject here.  I would advise you to read the whole thread before trying the 'solution'.

  • "earlier versions of windows are not supported boot camp" with bootcamp 5.1.2

    Hi everyone !
I have a problem about installing window 8.0 pro 64-bit with bootcamp ( v5.1.2 ). When I finished setting up, Bootcamp shows me a message as " earlier versions of windows are not supported boot camp " although I'm using bootcamp with 5.1.2 version. How can I resolve it ? My mac is mgxa2 mid 2014.
    Thanks a lot !

Thanks for supporting to me .
According to "Boot Camp: System requirements for Microsoft Windows operating systems - Apple Supports" If I use bootcamp version equal or greater than 5, so I can do it. But my current bootcamp likes that. So why not ? . In the first time I set up though bootcamp , it's good but now it always shows that message .

After upgrading to Mavericks my Mac Pro does not open my double CD drives when I hit eject in the menu bar it locks up (please Help)?

If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time after  you had the problem. Select the messages logged before the boot, while the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract.
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the entire contents of the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post any other kind of report — it will be very long and not helpful.

  • Mac Pro does not auto-sleep (manual sleeping if fine!)

I have a small annoyance with my 2009 (Nehalem) Mac Pro I am wondering if someone can help with, or suggest something, please:
The Mac Pro does not auto-sleep; ever. I have played around with the sleep time settings, and enabled or disabled the 'sleep drives' option, but to no avail. Mac Pro will stay on, no matter if I am logged on OR even on the 'log on users' screen.
That said, I can sleep the Mac Pro manually at any time, and without any problems; it stays asleep without a hitch, and wake-up is flawless.
There is nothing in the console log that would tell me why the auto sleep doesn't function. I deleted the sleep plist and re-set, but again, no change.
Any ideas? Not sure what could signal the system to not do auto-sleep?
    It's running 10.6.3.
    Cheers,
    Dan

Exactly the same problems as those described above: forced sleep works (by using the power button or closing the lid) but automatic sleep doesn't (using 'Energy Saving' preferences).
Tried every single piece of advice here and on other posts: reset PRAM/ SMC, verified disc, repaired permissions, deleted the power saving preference files, cleared caches & history, restarted in every conceivable mode... The only things that worked were safe boot and creating a new user account which means it must be a software issue.
Disabled/ removed/ paused/ reinstalled every piece of software I could but to no avail. The most frustrating thing? Having to wait for 5 mins every time I tried something to check whether the damned thing was going to go to sleep.
In the end, and in desperation, I took the advice of Dino X and downloaded PleaseSleep. Success! A genius piece of software. It forces sleep when the Energy Saver preferences cut in but, even if I don't set exceptions, it won't force sleep if there's a DVD playing (for example).
Only had the Mac for a few months and I'll never go back to that other, unmentionable operating system; the Mac's just too good but I'm vexed that I'm having to use third party software to get it to work as it should (and was) - feels like a bit of a Win*s solution to me.

  • TS3048 My early 2009 Mac Pro does not connect via bluetooth to my sound bar or bluetooth mini speakers. Both my wireless keyboard and mouse have no problems connecting. What do I need to do to connect to external bluetooth devices?

My early 2009 Mac Pro does not connect via bluetooth to my sound bar or bluetooth mini speakers. Both my wireless keyboard and mouse have no problems connecting. What do I need to do to connect to external bluetooth devices?

I would always have a wired keyboard and mouse on hand (need not be expensive ... any cheap wired devices will work).  "Emergency recovery" procedures can activate features in random order, so the opportunity to select a recovery partition may pass before the wireless devices are recognized.
That will let you select the "turn on Bluetooth" icon.

  • Premiere Pro Does Not Support Audio-Only Capture For Some Formats, Such As HDV?

In the PPro CS 5.5 Help file  under, "Recording audio", it says:
"Note: To capture an audio-only file from a digital video source, choose Audio from the Capture menu in the Logging pane of the Capture panel.
"Premiere Pro does not support audio-only capture for some formats, such as HDV."
I'm shooting in HDV and if I want to capture audio only, would I just need to switch my setting to DV?
The only thing is my Canon HV20's HDV audio is MPEG-1 Audio Layer 2, 16 bit, 48 kHz.
My DV setting is PCM audio, which I think is a better quality format, right?
Would there be any noticeable difference?
    Thanks.

Capture your HDV material in the normal way and just drag audio only from the source monitor to the timeline.

    Hi  Rosennisha
I can assure you that the Lenovo K920 Vibe Z2 Pro fully supports OTG.You just have to plug it in...
Can you tell me your firmware build number?Settings>About phone>Version information>Software version number
Please make sure the USB stick you want to use is working properly(Maybe it needs to be formatted.Backup anything important first) or try a different USB stick.
Also please use a quality OTG cable.

    Hope this helps.

Did you erase the hard drive yourself? If not, what exactly are you seeing, and what happened immediately prior to you starting to see it?
Your profile indicates that you are/were running Lion (Mac OS X 10.7.4) on a retina MacBook Pro, so you should be able to hold down command-R at startup to enter recovery mode, and you can reinstall the system from there. But whether or not you need to do something else first depends on your answers to the questions above.

  • Mac Pro will not find boot volume

    Hello,
My Mac Pro will not find it's boot volume. Each time the computer is started, the blinking folder with the question mark is the result. A working install of 10.7 does exist on the machine's primary hard drive. If  I were to press the option key on boot, I can select the primary hard drive (after entering the password) and everything boots as normal. I have run TechToolPro on the volume with no detected errors, even after a volume rebuild. A Recovery HD partition is not on the boot volume. Should that matter?
I really really do not want to reinstall Mac OS X. I have hundreds of gigabytes of data in question. Any reinstall/reconfig would take days to complete.
    Thanks

So you are saying that setting the default in Startup Disk doesn't work?
And you have not got or been using Carbon Copy Cloner or another to provide working bootable backup?
You should have Lion Recovery on one of your drives, do a clean install.,
I assume TTPro media scan turns up no errors.
MOVE all your data OFF the boot drive. Keep the system OS and apps on its own drive.
Clone the system. Use TimeMachine and cloning for backup.
And how is the pram battery?
Any time you zap pram you lose the default and it will look for it like you see starting with SATA0 (bay 1)

  • Upgraded to ATI 4870 on Mac Pro and cant enter Boot Camp

    Hi!
I have just received the ATI Radeon 4870 for my Mac Pro (Early 2008)and have upgraded my Leopard to 10.5.7 and works fine on the Mac side. When I reboot and hold the command key I can see my MAC and my BOOT CAMP 2 options as always before. When I click on boot camp I get a white screen with a black frome around it and there is NO hard disk activity and nothing happens no matter how long I leave the computer alone. Before I had no problem booting into my boot camp loaded with vista 64 bit. I have another partition with parallels and that is fine but not this boot camp partition.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks for all your time!

I guess you can't boot Safe Mode.
I would have uninstalled the graphics drivers first, as part of preparing to swap cards. Assume you had.... before this and the proper ATI (or Nvidia) drivers. Put back in the original card.... or are you trying to use both? Again, not clear from your comments.
You can't use ATI and Nvidia in Windows concurrently, don't know why but seems to be rule that they won't be compatible.
You have another - physical - native Windows partition? or a Parallels VM that is not using a native (Boot Camp) partition, which works.

  • Newest Mac Pro does NOT work with CC14 - Will Adobe address this or not?

I have a Mac Pro late 2013 - the "trash can" - and when I tried installing Premiere CC14, it crashed multiple times before even completing the program's initial bootup. I had to install CS6 just to get operable, though this does not help me open the CC14 projects I have inherited. I have a colleague who uses a $1.5K laptop, and it works logarithmically faster and better with CC14 than my $4K new Mac Pro.  I have all the Adobe permissions set to "Read/Write" and it shows absolutely no speed improvements over a much less expensive iMac.  The CUDA feature is worthless unless Adobe develops a way for it to take advantage of the hardware configuration of the Mac Pro... And I'm having a hard time finding anything resembling an official statement suggesting this is anywhere close to a reality.  I have many After Effects plug ins, and while yes: They are 3rd party plug ins, these are not just electives - They are part of my arsenal that my loyal clients have come to expect.
For 15 years I have used After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator, all 15 of them on a Mac. In all that time I have NEVER experienced this kind of vagueness, finger pointing, and dodgy avoidance.  There seems to be an allergy to making an announcement that anything resembling a coordinated effort is going to happen.
Why would I buy "the fastest" Mac if Adobe didn't work with it?  MAC STORE staff didn't seem to think this was going to be an issue... Yet I can't find any official date as to when CC14 is projected to work with AMD architecture.
I'm feeling a lot like I did when Mac juked us with FCP-7 to FCP-X "upgrade.'   Et tu, Adobe?

(PS - Yes I had Adobe Creative Cloud assistance help me troubleshoot)

No offense meant, but did you come here to ask for help, or are you just complaining?  Because it seems an awful lot like the latter...

So does CC2014 work on your Mac Pro or not?  The laptop doesn't "work logarithmically faster..." than your Mac Pro if the software isn't working to begin with.  Hyperbole, much?
The CUDA feature is worthless unless Adobe develops a way for it to take advantage of the hardware configuration of the Mac Pro...
CUDA isn't available on the new Mac Pro.  OpenCL is.  If you have the CUDA preference panel installed due to another piece of software putting it there, you're better served by deleting it.  It's not going to help you at all on the new Mac.  It may, in fact, cause problems.
Pr CC2014 works fine with OpenCL on the new Mac.  Ae doesn't, but Adobe has never said Ae does or would.  Anything you do in Ae is going to be CPU-bound.  If Pr is crashing, then it likely means you have something else on your system that's mucking things up.  Did you recover your user directory with something like Time Machine when you installed your new Mac?  Was your user directory originally on some other Mac?  What happens if you create an entirely new user from scratch, without restoring the home directory, and then try to kick Pr into gear?  Does it run?
Provide some details and perhaps someone can help.
