My mac pro entry screen is now in english os x

The entry screen use to be in french (what I want), since the upgrade to OS X, it's now in english ... How can I switch back to french ...
Once signed in it's correctly in french

This is for mountain lion but I have just tried it with Mavericks and it seems to work, I think it is option number 2 for French using the terminal command, you should not need to reinstall.

i have tried buying a new charger incase this was the problem, it wasnt, it just wont icharge/turn on at all, im just wondering would apple replace it, as  am a student and need a computer and this is my only one?

Sorry no Apple will not replace it. What happened was an accident and the Apple warranty does not cover accidental damages.
So it looks like you will need to buy a new computer or pay to have your Mac fixed.

How much for repairing Mac Pro 13' screen?

The Mac Pro has a BYO screen. Are you talking about a MacBook Pro? The folks over in the Notebooks section will probably be able to help you.

  • 2008 MAC PRO - ORANGE Screen of Death, well death of your video card.

2008 MAC PRO - ORANGE Screen of Death, well death of your video card.
My wife's MAC PRO had this occur yesterday, here is how I solved the problem as the system was out of warrantee. System had the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT for the MAC.
Symptom: System starts boot as normal, see the grey apple screen, just as the desktop screen is to start, the screen turn completely orange. Attempted several reboots, holding down the diagnostic keys, re-installed the video card after cleaning, all these actions resulted with the orange screen.
Solution: Go to the Apple store and buy the NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 Graphics Upgrade Kit for Mac Pro - around $149 at time of posting. The card will work in a 2008 MAC PRO as long as you have upgraded to Requires Mac OS X v10.5.6 or later. Card has DVI and MINI Display port so I also purchased the Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter (you can find these online for less then the Apple adapters) to support my wife's second monitor.
Replace the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT with the NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 and system started right up with no issues.
    Hope this helps.

Sort of falls into the "common sense" though the GT120 cost and performance, I would have recommended the ATI 5770 for $100 more is all.
What is annoying is Apple doesn't offer a 10.6.5+ DVD to boot from or a way to slipstream the ATI support drivers. Some Mac Pro (2009) can boot with 10.6.3 DVD with the ATI 5770 but in general you need 10.6.4-1/2 (the Mid-2010 build number).

  • Help, Mac Pro wouldn't start now stuck on grey screen

    Hi,
My Mac Pro computer wouldn't start up properly. Sometimes I would press the button 30 times and still it wouldn't start.
I have taken it to a Authorised Apple shop and first of all had a new graphics board replaced.
A week later the same problem, it wouldn't start up, some times switch itself off so I took it back to the Apple shop where it turned on perfectly and the tests showed nothing wrong.
Week and a half later it happened again so I took it back and they gave me a new hard drive and memory cage.
Three weeks later, same problem took it back to the store and they found nothing wrong with it so I had to bring it back home.
Worked again for another week and then it wouldn't start a few times so I left it on and it turned itself off.
Today it is starts but gets stuck on the grey screen with spinning wheel and then turns itself off.
Please, please can anybody help. The Authorised Apple shop doesn't know what the problem is so has given up..
    Best Regards..

If you unplug it from all power & peripherals like taking it in would do, wait a few hours & plug it back in does it work?
Is there an Uninterruptible Power Supply involved?

  • Mac Pro - Grey Screen; won't start

I am having problems with my Mac Pro.  Had to replace the graphics card last week as both cinema displays packed up (coloured lines all over both monitors) and the computer has been fine for the past day or so.
During some work tonight, the computer froze and completely stopped working - had to power down by holding down the power button.  On restarting, the apple logo comes up but after a few seconds this disappears and, at the point where I expect the desktop to load, nothing happens.  I have left the compute for 10/15 minutes to see if it starts but absolutely nothing happens.
Again, I am forced to power down by holding down the power button and the machine will not start at alll now.
Have reset PRAM but this has made no difference.
Grateful for all help and suggestions.

  • Mac Pro Retina Screen Replacement Procedure

So I love my Mac Pro Retina but it has the ghosting issue, everything else is fine as far as I can tell with it, its had a few kernal panics but they have all been graphics related while Chrome was open, and only in Mac OSX, so I am assuming thats fine. I can play any game I want in Windows 7 with out trouble so thats a w/e.
I am past the 14 day mark for just turning it in for a new one, and I wouldn't want too anyway. So I was wondering how they handled pure screen replacements, if they do them there at the store, or if they have to ship it off. If anyone has any experience with this any info would be helpful.

I want to know what Apple has offered other people so I can go in and negotiate knowing what solutions they are offering. I have had Apple loose equipment for a period of time after being shiped of for repairs, so if they tell me its going to need to be shiped off, and someone here has had an instore replacement of the screen I would like to be able to point to that so I don't risk having my laptop lost in the ether again.
PS Apple actually handled it well by replacing the piece of equipment with the newest model, so the lost equipment ended well for me that time, but it was kind of a gaint pain in the butt.

  • Mac Pro pixilated screen

My smaller LCD screen works fine with the new Mac Pro but my large LED screen does not (Not 4K), even though it works fine with all of my other computers. I have had apple look at it and they think the problem is with the monitor, but I disagree because the screen works with my macbook pro, mac mini and macbook air just fine. A big seling point on this computer is the ability to hook up so many 4k displays, but so far it can not handle even one. Adobe has also crashed on me twice in the 5 hours that I have had the machine. (Re-installing mavericks as I type) Still excited about this, just slightly disappointed thus far, I expected some bugs, but if I can not work in Photoshop/Premiere than what is the point.

It is an Apex digital LE4643T HDMI TV and not a Computer Monitor, but it does fine on all of my other computers. I have hooked up via HDMI and HDMI to thunderbolt adapter.  It seems like the Mac Pro is not detecting the display correctly.

  • Mid 2010 Mac Pro, Black Screen on start up.  Video works after I turn machine off, let it cool

My Mac Pro is acting up.
If I do a reset after its beenruning for a period of time I get a black screen at start up.  I have tried multiple different monitor cables and nothing seems to work.  It does seem to resart and I can here the start up chime but no display.  If I unplug the machine and let cool for 1/2 ~ 1 hour it then turns back on with no problem.
Processor  3.33 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon

Graphics  ATI Radeon HD 5870 1024 MB
    Software  Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 (11E53)
Display is the 27 inch cinema
    Any ideas?  Bad graphics card?

AC if you used it this once would pay for itself. Same for a good solid UPS - a good one can stop that 1/100,000 surge that takes out a modem (if you filter of course).
I've known people that never knew you could filter coax cable or dsl and we get enough severe storms it has been, not if it happens, but when.
Unlike the X1900 which had a air chamber and would cause clogging you really should not need to and be pulling it out to clean dust all that much if at all.
People have gone through 2 or 3 ATI 5770s and some 5870s due to what are probably design or bad batches especially the first months run.

  • Mac Pro & iMac screen

    Hello
I have a iMac and a Mac Pro and is it possible to use the screen of the iMac with the Pro.

Only if you initially set up the Mac Pro with another separate screen.
    You have several options:
    1. At 720 x 480 resolution which is awful for Mac OS X, to output your DVI signal to VGA and convert to S-Video and bring it in with an Elgato S-Video capture device from http://www.elgato.com/
    2. VNC which only is of reasonable speed if your iMac supports Gigabit ethernet, or you use Firewire over IP. See http://www.redstonesoftware.com/products/vine_viewer
    3. Remote Desktop of either Microsoft or Apple variety:
    http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.mspx
    http://www.apple.com/remotedesktop/
    4. Screen Recycler:
    http://www.screenrecycler.com/home.html
    5. If both machines run Leopard, use iChat screen sharing!
I've not used any of these solutions except 1, 2 and 5 with limited success.
If your intention is to use the processing power of both machines simultaneously, you need:
    http://daugerresearch.com/pooch/faq.shtml
Note, any DVI based LCD display will work on a Mac Pro, and so will VGA. You may find that's the cheapest solution of all. If colormatching is a concern, Viewsonic also has some Colorsync compatible displays which sometimes are cheaper than Apple.

  • Mac Pro in screen saver mode unresponsive

I walked away from my computer to go take a shower, came back and the screen saver was on. Moved the mouse, tapped space bar on keyboard... was unresponsive. Any thoughts? I've only had the Mac Pro since October 16th so I was kind of freaked that my new computer was unresponsive...

Sometimes unplugging USB devices will wake up such a machine. A tap to the start button may also wake it. If none of those things work then a hard restart may be necessary. At this point you should repair permissions, run disk warrior from the cd or another drive (buy it if you don't have it) or run Disk Utility if you don't have disk warrior. You might trash teh screensaver preferences and finally shut down, disconnect everything including the power cord. Then wait...I don't recall how long....10min? Ithink that's one way to reset smc...there's also a button to press internally. Somebody else will hopefully chime in with more specific information.

  • Mac Pro Locked Up and Now  One Video Card and Audio Not Working

Last night, my Mac Pro totally locked up to the point I had to power it off to get it to do anything. When restarted, one of my video cards and my audio are no longer working. I have dual monitors so tried switching the connections to see if it was the monitor and that was not the problem.
I tried doing a formal shutdown after the restart and this also did not clear up my problem.
Everything was working fine prior to the lockup. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

If you've added RAM and are using the nVidia 9400m video driver, you may be using incompatible RAM

  • Can USA Mac Pro and Screen be used on 220 ?

Have Mac Pro for 6 months, just been relo'd overseas can my Mac Pro work ? Specs say either 110 or 220, but not sure what I need to do, if anything

Nothing, other than an adapter to convert the plug pin configuration as required. The power supply can be used with both 100-120V 60 Hz and 220-240V 50Hz power sources without doing anything.
