My mac pro laptop won't come on

Not sure what to do about my new laptop that is about year and a half old. I use the power cord and it comes in faint and flashes green and a orange red color.
I am at a lost. Please Help!!!

I am a long time Palm enthusiast who is frustrated. No more Palm products for me or anyone I speak to until I solve this problem. Someone at Palm should be paying attention to their long time cusotmers. I bought Palms in 2002 and 2003.
The support literature coming with two Treo 755p that I bought was so poor that never saw the fine print that there was three months of support if I registered the devices. The registration page does not let me register. All the fields are ghosted after I put in the serial number. I bought one in June 2008 and the other in early 2008. So never registered and can get no help from Palm now it seems.
So beside that gripe below is the problem issue info.
I can't get a Verizon Treo 755p to USB cable Hot Synch with my daughters 17" Mac Pro Laptop. It is using OS 10.5x She lives in another city so I am trouble shooting this remotely.
Did - Revd Palm upgrage has been installed.

Did in advanced settings on the Treo select in the Synch preferences allow other Hot Sync applications.
That process worked however on my own Treo 755p Verizon as below:
After much work, hours over several months, I got my my Treo 755p Verizon to Hot Synch with a QuickSilver desk top Mac running os 10.5x.
Did the RevD upgrade.
Did in advanced settings on the Treo select in the Synch preferences allow other Hot Sync applications. Otherwise the Wireless Synch feature prevents a Hot Synch.
Once those both were done than Hot Synch works fine, and Wireless Synch works fine and does not interfere.
The Wireless on both PDAs is scheduled to be removed on both Treos due the economy on Feb. 4th, so I would like the HotSynch to be working so her Treo is backed up.

Works now, she had created a user ID as prompted when installing the HotSynch Software, but it was not the same name of the Treo 755p. The default ID was the one she from installing the software, so it showed nothing in address or contacts, but when she switched to the Treo ID than all her stuff was there.

I have even checked my adobe membership to locate my serial number but it does not seem to have any record which is strange as I have been using this software for over a year now and the previous versions since 2009. MAC PRO LAPTOP FRIED AFTER INSTALLING SNOW LEOPARD U/G

I am REALLY REALLY upset. I bought my daughter a top-of-the-line Mac Pro laptop in 2007. All together, with a 3-year extended warranty, it cost me $3,000!!
Because she kept getting messages that she needed to upgrade her operating system, she purchased the Snow Leopard upgrade two weeks ago and installed it.
Well, her laptop is now fried - just a week or so after installing the Snow Leopard 10.6.3 upgrade!!!!!
She took it to the Apple Store in Seattle, WA, who have told her that her graphics card is completely fried and needs to be replaced, and that she can't just replace the graphics card, because it's soldered onto the logic board - so she'd have to replace the "whole thing", which would be really expensive, around $1,000, and she "may as well buy a new computer"!!!!!!
I am REALLY REALLY upset about this - that a computer manufacturer (Apple) would sell laptops and just expect that people would have this huge outlay ready every 3 - 5 years to replace fried computers.
Has anyone else had major problems with their computers - laptops or otherwise - after installing the Snow Leopard CD upgrade??? I have read on several online forums that many people have had many different problems with their computers after installing this upgrade.
Apologies that I am not a computer-system-literate person - I'm just a mother who spent a LOT of money on a laptop for her daughter, and I truly believe that the Snow Leopard upgrade fried her computer. She doesn't have the money to get a replacement and will probably have to drop out of college courses she's taking online because of this.

Once a machine reaches 4 years old, its PRAM battery can likely get low fairly quickly, and that can jeapordize the success of upgrades. Make sure your PRAM battery is new, if you have never changed it. This is not the battery that is easily accessible through the bottom of the unit. Bring it in to service if you can't find it through do-it-yourself repair instructions on http://www.ifixit.com/ and http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/ Keep that PRAM battery checked every 4 years or so when the machine starts to misbehave.
Edit: Scratch that. I now see they diagnosed a bad graphics card. This is something that could have been diagnosed during the first year or three years of ownership with the hardware test that came with the computer. After that three years, age and wear and tear can damage a graphics card. Your best bet if you want to avoid this happening in the future, don't travel with the machine asleep (only travel with it turned off), run the hardware test every six months, and buy AppleCare for any notebook computer you buy, even if you wait till the machine is 11 months old. After 12 months, you are paying out of pocket for every single repair, even manufacturer issues that don't make an exchange/repair program. With AppleCare manufacturer issues are typically covered. User caused damage typically is not.

When I try to download Lightroom3 - I go through all the steps and press download -- When I open up Lightroom from the toolbar -Lightroon 2>7 comes up -- but I can not use Lightroom 2.7 - it is frozen -- there are no photos in the Library-- have tried to down load lightroom 3 several more times with no results-- Can anyone Help-- Thanks, Bob T

Open Activity Monitor and select the Lr 3 process. Choose to "sample" the image. Contact Adobe Support. If they need that file, you already have it.

My laptop won't come out of sleep

I have the Macbook Pro w/ retina display and whenever I go to open it, my laptop won't come out of sleep and I have to hold the power button to turn it off then back on again. I have to do the same thing if I walk away from it for to long and the laptop goes to sleep except this time when I bring it out of slepp it just shows the enter password for user screen but it is frozen. I got my laptop on the 8th of June 2013 so it is practicly brand new. Does anyone know how to fix this problem.

Brand new out of the box this shouldn't happen. Bring it to an Apple store or AASP.

When I work with a drive to boot many computers, I use the newest model computer I will be booting, and set the system up on that, run all the Apple updates. Normally I will have no issue booting any older computer with the same drive. Unless of course those older computers do not support the operating system on that drive.
If you want to test if the drive will boot the mac mini. Put your MacBook Pro into target mode. Connect the two computers together. And on the Mac Mini, go into system preferences and then under start up disk and see if the target disk mode computer's drive shows up there. Seelct that drive and restart. See if it boots ok. A bit easier then taking the drives out and moving things around.

G4 to Mac Pro Laptop

I'm an old lady that is FINALLY going from my G4 Power Book to a Mac Pro Laptop due to problems with java script I just can't get solved. I've been out of the Apple loop for so long I'm terrified of the incompatibilities of my files on the G4 with the new laptop. with the Intel processer. Will I be able to transfer my files from the G4 via my Jump Drive? For example: I have lots of Word files that I want to transfer to the new Word. I now have a wireless router I just bought to watch Netflix instantly. Will that have to be changed? Will all my "drivers" ? for my camera, printer, etc. word with the new procosser?

This 70 lady had been out of the loop too long and since I'm on a pension this is a HUGE committment. I now know I'm getting a notebook. I'm kind of embarrassed I didn't know and am grateful to you for setting me straight so I don't further look "out of it". You were so kind to answer my questions. I'm mostly relieved that I can use my flash drive to transfer my files. My old Word (10.1.4) I knew would probably have to be replaced. Now I have to go to Microsoft Office to find out the proper name for my new email program. I use Entourage , and I do know Microsoft has changed that. I use Photoshop Elements 3 which will probably also have to be replaced but will happily use iPhoto until I can afford it. My printer is a Lemark S300-S500. I'll go look to see if I need a new driver. I'm curious about the scrolling in Lion...I'm so excited to see all these things. Once I made the decision to buy ,even if it meant paying "on time" for 18 mos, I've been reading these boards like crazy...I'm most concerned about the noise and the back lighting on the screen but an Apple is an Apple. After being madly passionately in love with Apple for all these years (I am a retired old maid elementary teacher) I just KNEW there would be some kind person in the Apple world that would take the time to answer my dumb questions.
