My Mac's running 10.10 do not recognize my HP scanners.

My intel Mac, just upgraded to Yosemite, do not recognize my HP scanners. The print function to these wireless all in on devices works fine. When I tray to scan a document I get the following error message. Error. Sorry , scanner could not be initialized. (Scanner could not be found). I have restarted my Mac, I have disconnected my printer/scanner from power and then restarted. Nothing seems to work. The HP utility can find the printer and check ink status, etc. Printing function is fine. I believe this to be a Yosemite software issue, as I have successfully scanned this document using my Windows 7 laptop.
Any ideas?

Have you verified with HP that each device has scanning supported in Yosemite?
If they are, first uninstall all HP applications! Next reset the printing system and re-add the devices and retest. Reset instructions can be found at Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system - Apple Support
If the scanning capabilities are not supported by HP then you will need to buy a third party utility for scanning. VueScan is one that is extremely popular and supports hundreds of devices. You can find it by Googling the name.

Mac is running SUPER Slow, applications not responding when i open them, Beachballs everywhere

Whenever i open an application (Take Google chrome for an example) it bounces like 20+ times, then on activity monitor it says "Application Not Responding". I have a Power Mac G4 running Tiger that will not open Classic 9.1

I have an old Power Mac G4 Running OSX 10.4.11 that would run Classic 9.1. I haven't used the computer in a long time, but am trying now, and Classic will not start. I get no alerts, besides one that says "You have Mac OS 9.1 Installed. It's recommended that you upgrade to Mac OS 9.2" With "OK" as the only option. Afterwards it just goes to the start up screen for Classic and the blue bar doesn't move, but flickers. I have tried restarting, and all extensions are off. I don't know what else to do. Does anyone have any suggestions??

You'll need to copy these files onto your computer in Mac OS 9 to be able to extract the 9.2.1 update, install it, and then the 9.2.2 update and install it:

I could originally sync my iPad 3 to Mac pro but now it does not recognize the device. It does on my MacBook however.

Nope. iPads can only be synced with one iTunes library, and all content on the iPad would be erased if you tried to sync it with a different one.

Let's try to deal with the sharing issue first. Your new problem is very common under Snow. However, it turns up with different timing in an idiosyncratic way.
At first, my shares did not show up under shared in finder windows. I, then, of course, used "Connect to Server" to connect to the shares--both Mac and PC. I found that the more I kept the shares active the more likely they were show up under shared. Then, I discovered that if I kept the computers from sleeping during the period of needed access they would tend to stay in shared without nearly so much keeping the connections active.
If you do not like the above work around, then there are two other possibilities. You can elect to show mounted items on your desktop. Do that and connect to each share. Then, go > users > unlock > + login options > try dragging the mounted shares to the login item window. If successful, then the shares should be available at login.
Another approach is to mount and connect as indicated above. Then, making an alias to the share should at least make things faster.

My computers, both of which run Windows 7, do not recognize the Powershot SX50HS when it is connected via the Canon cable. In other words, even after the cable is connected to the USB port and the camera's power is turned on, the camera does not show up as a device when you go to "Computer" and look at the list of drives, etc. How can I fix this? If you don't know run the software disk that came with the SX50. It has the correct files that your computer needs in order to communicate with your camera.

Trying to set up Apple TV. I enabled home sharing on my ITUNES account on my Mac. The apple TV does not recognize apple ID/password.

is the atv otherwise able to access internet connect which require no appleID ? such as youtube?
because if it dont have internet access and is asking for the password for the wifi then your appleid password may not be the same one as the wifi password

My HP dv7 2185dx running Windows 7 will not recognize second hard drive, bios recognizes it, Intel Rapid storage recognizes it.
Primary hard drive is a 1TB, in install a second 500GB hard drive.

Hi,
Hold down the Windows Key and press R. Into the Run Box type compmgmt.msc and hit enter. Click Disk Management in the left pane and let the drives load up.
Does the 2nd HDD show here?

Hi! Been trying to follow a thread about the Kernel-task and slow Mac performance. I did download EtreCheck and ran the report. I am a photographer using LR 4 and Chrome is my main browser. Both Chrome and LR (or PSE, or PS or Xee (a photo viewing app) make my computer run beyond ridiculously slow. I have so much work to do for clients and I get stopped in the middle of editing and cannot move forward because my beloved Mac is having issues. I did go through several old apps and the Application Support and Prefernces and deleted what I could of what I knew "what was what". I would appreciate any help in getting my Mac back on track. Thanks!

Problem description:
My Mac is running incredibly sluggish. Chrome continues to lag, and the spinning ball is ridiculous when I am working in LR. I did the EtreCheck and the report is below. I JUST cleared out my LR catalogs and now have just two folders in the catalog from a current wedding I am working on. I will have to consider using separate catalogs for my other genres or even smaller catalogs and just make a catalog for each client. Thanks for looking this over! I am so frustrated.

Several problems exist.
1.
Back up your Mac prior to making any changes to its file system. Time Machine has not been configured properly To learn how to use Time Machine read Mac Basics: Time Machine backs up your Mac - Apple Support.
2.
You inadvertently installed adware. You do not need to download or install anything to fix it.
For a description of how this may have occurred, how to avoid it in the future, and for Apple's recommended actions read How to install adware. Apple's instructions are linked in the Recovery Procedure near the end of that document. Read and follow them carefully. Pay particular attention to the easily overlooked passages directing you to restart your Mac when required.
3.
That Mac's Hosts file appears to have been modified. Fixing a modified Hosts file requires specific instructions. Apple Support Communities contributor and EtreCheck author etresoft recently added a User Tip discussing that concern, and how to correct it: Fixing a hacked /etc/hosts file

My 2006 - 2008 Mac Pro running Lion will not play HDV 1080i60 footage in FCP 7. When I open the sequence settings, all HDV codecs are hdv1, hdv2, hdv3, and so forth. However, when I open the project on my other Mac Pro running Snow Leopard and FCP 6, the footage works fine as it does on my newer Imac running Mavericks and FCP 7. I have tried a Quicktime update on the Mac Pro that the footage doesn't work on but it says that I already have the newest version of Quicktime installed. I have also tried reinstalling the Final Cut Pro Studio twice, still no fix. I'm completely out of solutions and need to be able to edit HDV footage on this machine. Any help would be great. Thanks.

there was a recent software update that seemed to screw HDV up. Do some searching here over the last month or 2 and you'll find a bunch of posts and some possible solutions.
Worst case scenario, do as Shane suggests. But might I suggest you take a look at the user tips section of the forum. there are some great tips on how to prevent these sorts of problems by cloning your startup drive, etc.
