My mac takes a long time to open an internet page

My mac takes a long time to open on internet page and it's not the connection as all our other apple products in the house are working fine. Any suggestions?

Here are some troubleshooting steps.
Does this behavior persist if  you:  (1) Try it from a different user account, e.g., Guest?  (2) Try it after starting up in Safe Mode ? (3) Try it after turning off all Safari Extensions? (4) Turn off all virus scanners, system cleaners, and third party optimizers?  (5) Delete all malware, (6) Temporarily disable all internet plug-ins?  (7) Make a burnt offering to Zeus?

  • ITunes takes a long time to open, or doesn't open at all.

I recently had problems with iTunes where it just wouldn't open. I did a factory reset on my computer, however it takes a long time to open and works really slow. When I try to sync, it takes around in hour.

  • AP Trial Balance - File is massive and takes a long time to open up

    Hello,
We are upgrading from 11.5.10 to 12.1.3 and are running into some serioud problems with the Accounts Payables Trial Balance report in Detail Mode.
    1. The Report takes upwards of 10 minutes to open up - and in many cases does not.
    2. On further research we see that the report output file is > 500MB whereas comparable 11i Trial Balance files are only 19MB.
    3. We tried running in various formats Text, PDF, HTML with no luck.
    4. In fact HTML and Text formats gave “Authentication failed” errors when we tried to open the report.
    My questions are:
    1. Why is there a such a large increase in file size? Is this expected going to R12?
    2. Is there a way to speed up the opening of the large files or create smaller files? - (summary mode, and smaller date ranges are not options as per business needs). Even a 2 month date range give the same problems.
    3. We noticed that the XLA_TRIAL_BALANCES table has 36,521,125 records...LARGE.
    4. We compared the ap_liability_balance records between 11i and R12. We have 29,171,382 in 11i and 37,769,034 in R12. But this is expected as we purge regularly in 11i production and I don't think this difference (about 30%) in the size of the tables should cause such a large difference in the size of the report files (nearly 2000%!!!).
    5. Why are we getting Authentication failed errors? Just for these reports?
Of course we opened an SR, but you know how SRs go :-) and this is a time critical project with our deadlines nearing.
Any help or pointers from the experts here is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi Hussein,
Thanks for your prompt reply and my apologies for the substantial delay in mine.
We did some trouble shooting since then.
We repolved the problem by choosing a pdf format instead of the seeded RTF format. This opened up the output in a couple of minutes because the pdf formatted output was about 50mb vs the RTF output which was 300MB+.
But the ORIGINAL problem still remains. The xml tagged .out file is still huge with a size of nearly 1gb!
My earlier questions here now boil down to the following questions.
Q1. Is the huge XML Publisher's .out file expected in R12?  It really is massive!  The text file from 11i was just 19MB
Q2. Oracle does not seem to offer the option to format the output in plain text ...We see PDF, RTF but no plain ugly text.  I would expect plain text file to be much smaller.  How can we get the output in plain text?
1.Yes our stats are upto date. Let me emphasize that we do not have a performance problem with the report itself. The issue we are having is opening up the output.
    2. The authentication error is resolved. It was because of formatting the reports incorrectly.
    3. We did not use the usual tuning procedures such as tkprof because we do not have a performance problem.
    4. We checked the OPP file and there are none. I reiterate, The report does complete without issues. It is just that the output takes a long time to open up in the RTF
I will appreciate if others  can share any experiences if you have faced this situation and how you have handled it.
Thanks in advance for your time!

    Ramsudhakar,
There are several items that could cause these slow down problems. Without knowing more about the way your environment is setup, I could cause more problems, by giving out performance tips. You would need to be more specific in your post.

  • Outlook 2010 takes a long time to open emails with embedded images

    Hello,
outlook 2010 on windows 7 both with latest updates applied. outlook is in online mode and the option "Don't download automatically in HTML  email messages or RSS tiems" is not selected.
it takes a long time to open the message with an embedded picture: at 6 sec to open an image size of 75kb
When I open the same message in OWA no delays at all.
I am using Exchange server 2010 Sp2 and I already created new outlook profiles for the users affected. no changes.
    Any ideas?

    Hi Aprylmsx,
According to your description, I recommend you refer to the following methods to troubleshoot the issue:
    1. Please check if there is any anti-virus software on your client PC, if yes , please disable it and check the result.
    2. Please check if there are any 3rd party add-ins in your outlook, if yes, please remove it and check the result.
In addition, How many users encounter this issue? a lot or just only you?

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
*Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
    *Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
    *Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
*Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

You may need to reset your network settings, making sure the network you're accessing is stable: tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
If your iPhone still can't connect to App Store, tap Settings > iTunes & App Store > tap the Apple ID and sign out > later, sign in with your Apple ID.

See how many networks are listed in Sys Prefs: Network: Advance. Drag the preferred to the top. Delete any you don't really need.

  • My mac takes a long time to log on, running slow

my imac is running slow & takes a long time logging on, anyone knows why this happens?

If you have more than ten or so files or folders on your Desktop, move them, temporarily at least, somewhere else in your home folder.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except keyboard, mouse, and monitor, if applicable. Launch the usual set of applications you use when you notice the problem.
    Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the page that opens.
    Select the CPU tab.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?
    Step 2
Launch the Console application in the same way as above, and select “kernel.log” from the file list. Post the dozen or so most recent messages in the log — the text, please, not a screenshot.
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Do not post many repetitions of the same message.

  • Sometimes an e-mail will take a long time to open

Not all my e-mails open immediately. Some of them take a long time and I have to keep going back to them or wait until the next day.
All my e-mails don't do this. Just some.

I use ccleaner on a regular basis.
That may be one of your problems - apps that claim to 'clean your Mac' usually do more harm than good.
If I were you, I would try a 'fresh' installation of OS X. Simply boot into your Recovery partition (holding down the Command and R keys whilst booting), use Disk Utility to verify and repair Permissions and the use it to verify your hard drive and then install OS X anew. If you don't erase your hard drive, none of your data will be deleted (although it's always best to have a backup, of course).
If the fresh install doesn't 'fix' things, I would just start all over again - erasing your drive and reinstalling everything.
And stay away frorm CCCleaner, etc.

  • It takes a long time to open an app and sometimes it will just crash, any idea how to fix it?

My four year old Macbook Pro couldn't start yesterday and after going through solutions and all, it worked. But now it's freaking laggy and whenever I want to open an app, it takes a long time or the app will just crash. Any idea how to fix it? I really need the speed and everything back.

    noeleeeen,
so you have an external hard disk, onto which you deleted/moved files from your internal hard disk, so that you now have 143 GB or so free on your internal hard disk — is that correct? Is the external disk purely for backups (e.g. a Time Machine destination), or does it function as a supplement to your internal disk?
Was it entirely your personal data files (documents, photos, movies, music, &c.) which you’d deleted or moved to the external disk, or did you also delete/move apps, libraries, &c. over there?
I’m not familiar with Echofon Lite, so I can’t comment on it, but an Apple-supplied app like the App Store shouldn’t crash.
Have you tried running Disk Utility yet, to see if its verification process gives your disks its seal of approval?
