My Mac Turns on But it Wont Load

I got a prompt for an update last night. So I updated it as I always do and it restarted but it never loaded up. It turned on and I just got a blank screen, I was REALLY tired and while I was 'giving it time' I fell asleep and woke up 3 hours later to the same blank screen! I held down the power button and it restared to again the blank screen. I was gonna go to the Apple Store but I figured I'd save myself the trip. What do I do?!
I got my Leapord upgrade 2 weeks ago but I never had any problems, what's up?

The flashing folder sign is the Mac's way of telling that a bootable disc cannot be found. Since the computer is new, it is unlikely, but not unheard of, to have a hard disk failure (don't blame Apple, they don't make their own HD's). If you are new to OS10-4/5 you may have needed to repair permissions before installing the update, but regardless the HD is having problems. You should be able to boot the computer by putting in the DVD that came with it, holding down the "c" key while turning on the system ( which tells the computer to boot from the CD/DVD in the machine ). Keep the "c" key held down until the rotating bars show on the screen just below the Apple logo, then you can release it. Navigate to the utilities folder on the DVD and then repair the disk, this should enable you to boot using the HD unless there is a failed HD or other hardware problem. Since it is new, you can call Applecare or take it to an Apple store to have it checked out.

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive & clear caches.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.

Try booting in Safe Mode by holding your Shift key down when booting. Also, try holding the eject key down when booting to eject the DVD. If you plug a mouse in and hold the clicker down when booting, that should eject the DVD.

I have just downloaded FaceTime to my mac book pro, but it wont sign in?

Drive Preparation
1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.

Thanks Diane! I'm downloading it now. I didn't know there were still newer versions of iTunes that would work with my current system (10.4.11). To answer your question: I've been able to access my library, but as of this week, I can't access the store. First, it was only the store main page (many months ago) that wouldn't appear. A warning came up, "please update." But I could search for artists and go to their specific pages. Now, I can't even do that.
I never updated to 10.5 because the word was Logic Pro (audio software) wasn't working well with the then new 10.5. So I stuck with 10.4.11. Everything has been problem free. Now we're far beyond that system, and so me (and others, I'm sure), are getting flushed into incompatibility because we can't afford an intel processor.
I guess finally purchasing a now rare 10.5 system update would hold off my extinction.

Will turn on but won't load

I have a MacBook that is a couple years old and when I turn the power on the loading screen (the one with the little circle that goes around) comes up and it won't go any further. Does anyone have any suggestions how to fix it? I can't get an appt at the local store until Wednesday night. Thanks in advance for any help!

If booting into Safeboot (Safemode) was unsuccessful, then you need to boot from the OSX install DVD and try repairing permissions and running a disk verification form Disk Utilities. While you are in Disk Utilities you might want to make note of the S.M.A.R.T. status, it should read "Verified".

My ipod touch 4g is connected to the charger and it turns on but it wont charge

So my ipod was low on battery and i wanted to charge it so i leave for 1 hour and i go and turn it on and it shows the "connect to power" screen and i disconnected the charger and reconnected it and it turned on but it didnt charge Please help!

Mac turns on, but does not seem to load OS.

A few days ago my 27-inch iMac running snow leopard, would turn on as usual,but would get to the first screen which is typically white. Usually, theapple logo appears seconds later and you can see the spinning icon below itshowing the process of loading in the OS. Generally, this would take lessthan a minute and I was up and running.
However, a few days ago, I turned on the computer, it came up to the whitescreen and just froze there - no logo, no progress icon - nothing. Iwaited for over five minutes and then I just held the power button on the backand it shut down. Tried again, same issue. Feeling a bit nervous, Iturned off the power strip and waited for about 30 seconds and turned the stripback on. I then turned on the Mac, and she fired right up as usual. Was relieved to say the least...
However, it is doing this all the time after each time I shut down. Has anyone else experienced this issue? If so, what did you do to correctit? Or, what might be causing this in the first place?
The reason I am concerned, about two weeks ago, I updated my Flash player;and then yesterday, I get an article from a friend about a Trojan Horse that disguisesitself as the Flash Player update and can affect Adobe apps. I came on here to look for a solution to the same problem, I had read in various places that 800Mhz ram is fine i a 667Mhz system as the 800 is just a maximum speed, also have installed 1 higher speed module in another imac with no problems.
My parents asked me to upgrade the RAM in their mid-2007 aluminium 20"imac and the 800Mhz was slightly cheaper so I thought I might as well go for it. Upon installing the sticks the computer refused to turn on, I then checked online to discover one stick of faster RAM with a slower stick is ok but two sticks of faster DDR2 is unacceptable for some reason. I sighed deeply at my stupidity and the wierdness of this quirk and installed both the old sticks of ram back in the system.
It now exhibits the problem you outlined, power button = lit blank screen, chime sound but no signs of OS loading.
Tried leaving it unplugged for a while to reset PRAM but to no avail, tried holding the power button while plugging the power lead in after reading it on another forum and all this did was add a fan stuck on full power to the list of things it does when I turn it on....

It used to work as soon as i restarted my router but after an hour the iPod or perhaps the router,wont let me acces the appstore or itunes or the games center...
Its my first iPod and i guess i didnt configured the router´s w-lan well or something...I restored the Pod,I did all 4 steps in the support twice and i reinstalled my routers software+firmware but now im running out of ideas to solve this problem...(used to solve´em myself)

Connected to internet but pages wont load!!! HELP!!!

First time using this forum so Ill try my best to explain my situation.
I have a Blackbery curve 8520. Up till recently it worked perfectly however it has since failed to load websites even when connected to the internet. My BBM works perfectly however. I have re-registered, rebooted and made sure the Data services are on. I have contacted my network provider and they have said that it is a blackberry issue rathr thean a network one.
ANy help is greatly appreciated, I really dont want to listen to those automated messages on the helpline anymore.

I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
2) Resend Service Books
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
3) Batt Pull Reboot
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you will need to re-contact your mobile service provider for formal support...for, the last time, they fobbed you off...even if the problem is at RIM (btw...BB is a device, RIM is the company that makes BBs), your support channel still starts with your carrier...they have the power to escalate your case into RIM at no cost to the end user...there is no other path by which you can receive free formal support from RIM...indeed, these forums aren't even RIM support, but rather are user-to-user.

Restored my iphone but it wont load the backup.

Hi. I restored my iphone making sure I backed it up before I did. There were no problems with the back up and it said it was successful. However after the restore I click on 'restore from the back up of 'name of backup'' and it starts to sync but then says it could not load the back up as the back up failed.
Is tehre any other way to load this back up?

I'm sorry, but I'm having a little trouble understanding you. You say it won't restart? Or are you saying something else. I am not aware of any program that Apple has that helps to restart a phone. So if you try to restore based on the support document that I provided you, what happens?

Is there any way to save data from a broken Iphone that still turns on but computer wont recognise it?

My iphone 4 was thrown at the floor and smashed. It charges still, and switches between showing the apple logo on screen, to blank, and then sometimes to the initial start up screen where it asks me to connect it to itunes. When plugged into the computer however the computer doesn't show it in Devices, and it doesn't appear in Itunes. I am wondering if there are any options to try and get all my photos and contacts off it in particular. I am not sure if itunes backed up the data when i updated the phone previously... If a repairer was too look at it and they are not with Apple, you would void your warranty entirely.
To check previous backups, go into Edit>Preferences>Devices on Windows, and iTunes>Preferences>Devices for Mac, that will show a list of backups

Hello everyone, this problem y very weird.
I installed windows 7 with bootcamp and everytime y try to boot from windows it shuts down my mac. Th weird thing i that i installed parallels 6 in my mac and i can go inside my windows 7 partition.
When i run the windows 7 installer cd and run the trouble shooter its say that maybe i have installed a camera or something like that, remove it and restart, if the problem persists contact apple support.

Look here for a way to do it like a 2011 MBAir is set up for.
If you get it to work it will un-dim the option to create the W7 installer and Boot Camp drivers on the USB drive automatically.
I got it to un-dim for my 2010 MacPro.

Help me! new ipod but it wont load new songs and itunes freezes!

i recently had to trade in my old ipod as it was faulty and between losing the old one and getting my new one i reformatted my computer, i downloaded itunes and re loaded all my cds back up
plug in my ipod and itunes freezes instantly, give it a few minutes and it slowly starts working untill it says cant load files, now can we not put m4a onto ipods? and if not why on earth did itunes decide to put it on as that?
someone please tell me how and what i should do to get my songs onto my ipod without it freezing and being a menace!
