My mac went dead in the middle of working-no power light,no start up

hi,
my mac just went out like it was unplugged in the middle of me working. now there is no powerlight and it will not start back up. what can i do to troubleshoot? help!! i've checked all cables and all seem to be ok.

Hi. You could try disconnecting everything except the display, and wired keyboard and mouse, and resetting the PMU/SMU

If your G5 has a button as shown in the photo at the bottom of the page, earth/ground yourself by keeping one hand on the G5 casing as you press the button(once, firmly); you may not have to remove the Intake fan bracket to get at the button.
If it still doesn't start up - and you are certain the mains power is good to the G5 - Is there a 'relay click' from the PSU when you plug the mains lead/power cord back in? One User in the Forum managed to recover from a similar problem by wiggling the mains connector in the socket at the back of the G5.
It has been known for unlikely steps such as replacing the battery, and re-seating the video card in its slot (and re-seating RAM) to resurrect a former G5.

If it does Startup you may be able to find what caused it by checking Utilities > Console > Logs > system.log - working back from the current Startup entries.
You may wish to run Disk Utility > Verify Disk on the boot drive, in case there is directory damage.

For no apparent reason, the airtunes stopped in the middle of a song. Now when I try to connect it, it times out.

Have you played with any of the iTunes Preferences. Check out its Advanced tab, and maybe uncheck and check some menu items.
Also, you might want to check with Airport Admin Utility. Play with the Music tab.

I am having an issue in PS CS6 (on a Mac) where in the middle of working on a file, it gets corrupted by filling in a grid of squares in my layer masks as well as deleting out those same sections of misc layers throughout the file. I have reset the preferences, cleaned up the file. Renamed it to another file and 2 weeks later it is doing the same thing. Luckily I had my main subjects as smart objects and it saved them. This second time I just closed it out and opened it again and it is fine. Anybody else have an issue with this? Also it runs really slow these days on my MacBook Pro Retina 2.6 Core i7 with 16gb Ram.

Also, I am trying to connect my Mini from the mini-Displayport to the Displayport of my Dell U2410 monitor. The image is very grainy,even though it is set to the correct resolution: 1920 X 1200 at 60Hz. If I use HDMI to VGA input, the image is much clearer. Is there a way to get the Displayport to work?

I'm seeing a great many devicemgr and rake errors in my system log. I don't know if they're related. How 'bout you?
If you're unfamiliar with the system log…
Open /Applications/Utilities/Console.
If necessary, choose View > Show Log List.
system.log is at the top of the FILES section.
Try searching it for hot words like DEBUG, FATAL, and aborted.

Did you ever have cs2 installed on this particular computer before?
If the problem is that you already installed cs2, but it won't activate, that's because adobe took the activation servers offline for some older adobe products such as cs2.

You may have to follow the slightly more detailed steps in whichever of these two applies to you.

Rebooting into safe mode may be needed to delete any folder the instructions say you should remove. You may also find this Microsoft Fixit helps to remove stubborn components. It has taken some people several attempts to completely clean iTunes and supporting software before they have been able to successfully reinstall it.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

You didn't have enough battery power left when performing the update, and it died? That's bad.
You should be able to reinstall OS X using OS X Recovery or in the case of an older MacBook Air running Snow Leopard, by using your original System Install DVD and Remote Install OS X from another Mac.
Reinstalling OS X does not erase your user accounts or data.

Macbook Pro repeatedly crashes in the middle of work.

It seems as though every 15-20 minuets (or just when I start to make progress on a project) my mid 2009 Macbook Pro running Mountain Lion crashes. I upgraded to mountain lion about 6 months ago and it never did this before. It used to do it maybe once a day but its gotten progressively worse to the point that it happens almost every time I sit at my desk. ****. Sometimes ill hear it just reboot in the middle of the night without even touching it, which kind of leads me to believe its a mother board issue. I suggest removing MacKeeper then testing further.
You have different memory installed...
The Apple Hardware Test , extended tests, and Rember can test it, but from Apple & OWC you can see that the memory specification is for speed of 1066 MHz, whereas you have 1333, so that may well be a problem. A new 8 GB kit is ~$80, or the current could have a lifetime warranty if it was sold to you for that mac.
If the crashes are frequent enough, testing in Safe Mode may eliminate the other 3rd party extensions as a cause.
