My Mac will no longer connect to my home Internet.

This is frustrating.
My MacBook pro laptop, purchased in September, will no longer connect to my home Internet through wi-fi. It was working fine this morning, but now when I attempt to connect, it asks me for my password. I type in the correct password, hit enter, and it does it's business for thirteen seconds before saying connection failed. It was working literally eight hours ago. My brothers much older MacBook is connecting, my iPhone had connected... I cannot figure out this problem. Does anyone have a solution or a method for me to fix it?

Open network preferences, forget the network, then try to re connect with it! Otherwise, try turning off the modem, waiting 10seconds and truning back on. This may just help to clear the cache.

    It sounds like your iPhone 5s is not connecting to your home Wi-Fi network. You've done a good job of isolating this behavior to your iPhone and home Wi-Fi router.
    There are a few more steps that I'd suggest trying next:
    Make sure your iPhone is updated to the latest iOS version using the steps in Update the iOS software on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
    Make sure your router is using the settings in Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points.
    Update your Wi-Fi router with the latest firmware and make sure the router supports your Apple product. For more information, contact the manufacturer of your router. (from If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won’t connect to a Wi-Fi network)

    Firefox will no longer connect me to the internet. I can connect to the internet using Internet Explorer, but not Firefox. Prior to this problem my McAffee security was giving a message that a Firefox program was trying to run but McAfee didn't recognize it. I chose to block it from running since I didn't know what it was. I have uninstalled Firefox and tried to reinstall Firefox from the download link at Mozilla.org. This did not fix the problem.

  • 5C will no longer connect to my home network, but all other devices do.

    We had a service interuption and lost the wifi network at home for a while. When the network came back my 5C will no longer connect to the network, even though all of the other devices will. It will connect to wifi on other networks. I reset the router first. On my phone I have updated to the latest IOS, shut the phone off, forgotten the network, reset the network settings and reset the phone settings. Still will not connect to the network. It acts like it is trying but never makes it. I do not recieve an error message of any sort. What is the next step?

    All of a sudden my 2013 imac will no longer automatically connect to my 2013 airport extreme base station every device in the house is fine ipads,ipods,epson 4 in 1,windows 7 PC & laptop etc.I literally have to turn the hopspot on my iphone to connect then for some odd reason this triggers the connection to the base station and from there its fine turn off the hotspot & all is well usually I just turn the mac on and thats it connection has never been an issue before.HELP PLEASE it should just work right!

    There is a one year limited hardware warranty with all iPhones.
    You can check your warranty by going to supportprofile.apple.com.
    Try to restore the iphone as new without restoring from a backup. If that doesn't work, you're going to need a repair.
    And if it's out of warranty, you will have to pay for it.

  • IPod 4th Gen will no longer connect to my home wifi, what can I do?

    This problem started recently, I would arrive home, take my iPod off airplane mode (and yes, wifi did turn on) but my iPod would just not connect to my home wifi. I went to wifi>choose a network and manually selected my network but when I did, it would say "Unable to joine the network 'network name'". This problem slowly got worse: when I would wake up in the mornings or after not using my iPod for a long period of time, the same issue would occur! Usually it would take at least an hour if i was lucky of consatant retrying before, miraculously, it would connect. That was, up until yesterday though, when it would just simply not connect and display the message. I have tried almost everything I could think of: forgetting the network, restarting the iPod, restarting the modem/router (its an all in one setup), and even resetting the iPod but it just won't work, so now i'm stuck with a wiped iPod that just won't connect. One last thing, all my other wireless devices (iPad, PS3, laptop) work just fine and my iPod can connect to other networks. Please help me as I use my iPod very frequently and can't even restore to iCloud back-up.

    Does the iOS device connect to other networks?
    Does the iOS device see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
    Did the iOS device connect before?
    Try the following to rule out a software problem:                 
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
    Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
    .- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:

    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Mac pro no longer connects to web via internet sharing

    My Mac Pro does not have an airport card so I have often used a PowerBook G4 or MacBook Pro to share a wireless internet connection via ethernet. A few months ago this method began failing but I was able to share a connection via firewire. Now I am not able to do either.
    I have attempted to use both the mbp and the pbg4 to no avail using both ethernet and firewire for days, employing various troubleshooting methods including zapping PRAM, repairing permissions, and dumping network cache. I've tried static IP addresses and manual setups. The mac pro shows that it is connected to a network and displays all the proper IP information but is unable to load a web page and the diagnostics window shows an ISP, server, and internet failure regardless of any changes I make to network settings on it or the mbp/pbg4. Meanwhile, the laptops are connected to the internet just fine and are able to share a connection with each other.
    What can I do to make my tower susceptible to internet sharing once again?

    Your local LAN runs through your router.
    All your ethernet  ports, and your modem and router, should be behind and filtered from excess current. That means a UPS generally. And run input line thru UPS (coax) first, then run RJ45 back through UPS again (there can still be excess surge or current on the line).
    Modems and routers can be compromised by surge outage or storm. So can ethernet  ports.
    You have two ethernet ports and you tried with both also.
    What you did not do that I would have added is SMC Reset / Reset NVRAM/PRAM.
    This is what I have had for the last year, very nice and stronger  signals thruout the house.

    I just replaced the phone at the Apple store today. I have version 7.1.1 software update. Two other iPhone fives in the home connect to the network just fine. I can connect to new networks just fine, just can't connect to ones I have had before. I have done the resets I have done the forget this network.

    You shouldn't use the Static part, your router DHCP should give you a ip to use.
    Try
    Restore from backup
    If no joy, then
    Restore as new

    any advice, all of a sudden I only get 3G service in my home while my laptop, printer, and wifes Kindle still are able to connect to the wifi network.  Anyone ever seen this?
    I reenter the password to the network and the phones still dont connect.

    Restart your WiFi router by removing power to it for 30 seconds. If this doesn't solve the problem try Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings on your iPhone.

    About three days ago the ability to connect came and went and the connection never lasted more than 10-15 minutes; it has not been able to connect since last night. I do not think it's my wifi router as non-mac lap top has no issues. I have seem many similar questions posted.

    Reboot your router by removing all power from it for about 15 seconds. Also, if your router still has its default SSID (such as LINKSYS, DLINK, NETGEAR, etc) change the SSID to something unique. Note that all other devices on your network will have to be reconnected if you change the name, but if the name is still the default that is most likely your problem.
    If the SSID is not the default then the reboot should fix it.
