My mac will not turn on.. help please!

my mac will not turn on with the power button. is there another way to override and turn it on?
did a software update early this morning (around 1 or 2 am).... on safari for a while.... closed all programs.
shut computer down via menu.
went to turn on around 11 am today... and absolutely nothing.
have unplugged and re-plugged power cord...
hoping for help b/4 i go into panic attack.
thanks all!!!

just hoping there is some way to override the power button.
perhaps combining a number of keys on the keyboard or something magical.
i have an appt with the genius bar tonight... but desperate for an immediate solution.

Try to force your phone into recovery mode. Disconnect it from the USB cord. Turn it off if you can by holding the sleep/wake switch until you see the red slide to off. Press and hold the home button while plugging it into the computer's USB cord. Continue holding the Home button while iPhone starts up. While starting up, you will see the Apple logo. My screen will not turn on help please

I have a Cinema Display 20" wide screen that is connected to my Mac mini but I can not get the monitor to turn on. I haven't put it to use for a little over a year could that be the problem? the display is an older model I believe it's between 2007/2008. My mini is 2009.

If the battery was completely drained the iPad will not respond for some time after connecting it to the charger. Connect the iPad to the charger that came with it and plug that into a good wall outlet. Wait 30 minutes. Then reset the iPad.Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the button and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot.
If the iPad restarts let it continue to charge until it's battery shows fully charged. If the iPad still does not start Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support. Be sure to back up your device before taking or sending it to Apple.

I will first explain how it began.
I put my imac in the box and then I store them in my attic.
Shook it possible that when I put my imac to loft the boot is clear due to cold ?

Firstly, try a hard reset. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until the Apple logo appears.
If this doesn't work, try restoring your device. Put it in recovery mode if iTunes doesn't recognise it, and restore it from there. I have linked to instructions below.

I would go straight to 5. Reset the SMC. If all else fails, bring it in, the PRAM battery may need to be replaced.

Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears

If a macbook pro will not turn on, the screen is black, have unplugged, removed the battery, have done command option and esc to no avail, also once battery was removed held down the power button for 5 seconds still no working screen,. I am having the exact same problem as I see may of you unfortunate Apple users are. I am receiving the error message about firewires and I have never used one. The nano will not turn off and I have to let the battery run out. The play/pause function works perfectly fine, but not to turn off the nano. The sleep function does not do anything either. I am so disappointed with Apple because they would not help me on the phonbe since it is well past my first 90 days of ownership. I may have gotten a single drop of water on it, but that was about 2 weeks ago, and still having the same problems. Do a reset. You will not lose any data: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If this does not help resore from a backup. See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Lastly try restoring to factory settings.
If none of this works, it's probably a hardware problem. Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of your Apple store. You are under warranty and they will fix or replace it on the spot.

I have a G72 laptop that will not turn on. The power button simply does nothing. I know that the battery is at least charging because when I plug it in, the LED indicator is white saying that it is charged. Sometimes when I take the battery out and put it back in it starts up for a split second, then a second or two later shuts off. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated!

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
