  • My mac book won't connect to any networks.

My mac book 7,1 won't connect to any networks (wireless connection) . It says "ALERT NO INTERNET CONNECTION" . The configuration IPv4 is on: Using DHCP. So, I don't understand why it's telling me this, and how i can fix it.

What do the Apple OS X network diagnostics report:
     > System Preferences > Network > Assist Me... > Diagnostics ...
    about your network connection?
Do the networking problems here also effect connections via a wired network?
Have you tried a different wireless network?   Does connecting at a library, café or Apple store work?
I'm going to assume that you're not running OS X Server 10.6 on this MacBook — that would be unusual — and that you're probably running the client version of OS X 10.6, and are here in this forum because you saw the 10.6 in the forum title.  If I'm wrong here, there can potentially be other triggers for the network outage.  OS X Server management is rather different from whe OS X that Apple installs on a MacBook.

  • My iMac won't connect to my network

My iMac won't connect to the internet anymore. I can only get internet connection through someone elses network.
It connected okay to my network when I first plugged it in. Everything was coming up roses and such. I'm thinking though it might have something to do with my pc. I gave my mom my pc and cleaned off everything. After re-installing the drivers, programs, and re-installing the wireless info on the pc, my mac won't connect to the network
There is a password for connecting to the network a wep 128. But my mac keeps telling me the password is wrong. And the only way to connect to the interent for me is via the Dlink connection.
We have a Linksys Wireless Router (WRT54G)
My mom has windows XP with wireless capability
My mac has the airport extreme already in the computer
I'm sure the problem is something really simple and minor and that I will kick myself for not figuring it out. :S
But any help would be great
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

The only other connection I get is through a unsecured dlink.
I tried using network assistant to get on the linksys network but when I put in the password for it I keep getting a message that says invalid.

  • My Powermac G4 AGP won't connect to a network through an airport card.

I have a powermac G4 AGP that won't connect to any networks via airport wireless card.  An error message pops up on the screen after trying to connect.  Displayed is "There was an error when trying to connect to the preferred network." Can anyone help me with this?

    Hi Scott,
What Encryption do those Networks use... Open, WEP, WPA, WPA2?
The Original 802.11b Airport card cannot do WPA2, most will do WPA with a Firmware update, it should do WEP or Open networks.
Do any of those Routers support 802.11b/g, or just 802.11n?

  • Iphone 4s won't connect to ANY wifi networks

I can turn on wifi, see networks in my area but it won't connect to any. Any suggestions?

Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
Verify that airplane mode is off by tapping Settings > Airplane Mode.
Reset the network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Note: This will reset all network settings, including Bluetooth pairing records, Wi-Fi passwords, VPN, and APN settings.

  • Safari Won't Connect To Specific Network. Firefox Will!

I have a specific issue with Safari (and Mail.app) on a specific network I try to connect to.
The network is one offered on a train service, and pre-Lion I've been able to connect to it just fine.
All of a sudden my MBP and MBA are able to connect to the network - but if I try and start Safari it just bounces away in the dock.
On the rare occasion that Safari starts it won't connect to any webpages. Mail.app also refuses to work in the same way.
If I use Firefox - I can use the internet as normal (although I still have issues with Mail.app).
The bigger issue occurs when I am off the train and trying to use my laptop on other networks - Safari and Mail continue to refuse to work, even though the laptop tells me I'm connected. I have to restart the entire machine.
I've deleted networks from the SysPrefs, reordered them, tried a Google DNS etc etc. I've Googled the issue like crazy, and even contacted the train operator! - and so far come up with nothing.
Any help would be much apprecieted.

Do you have anti virus software installed or any apps like Little Snitch?
Try deleting the cache associated with Safari.
    Go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari
Move the Cache.db file from the com.apple.Safari folder to the Trash.
    Restart your Mac, try Safari.
~ (Tilde) character represents the Home folder.
For LIon:   To find the Home folder in OS X Lion, open the Finder, hold the Option key, and choose Go > Library

  • My iPod won't connect to my network.

I have a recently purchased iPod Touch 5 generation, that was updated to iOS 8.2.
It is failing to connect to my home network, and I cannot understand why.
The MAC address was added onto my MAC address filter (I know some may say to turn it off but I can't, I'm not the network admin and they are stubborn as a mule when it comes to leaving the filter on. -_-), but it won't connect.
Initially it just said it was failing to connect, so I assumed an error was made in entering the MAC address to the filter, but the address matched.
Now it is saying 'incorrect password' even though the password is valid (I checked it at least three times before entering it).
It connects to my mobile phone's hotspot just fine if I turn it on, but that isn't a viable solution due to data restrictions.
I am at a loss as to why it won't connect to my Wi-Fi.

Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tends to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • My phone (4s) won't connect to any wifi since the ios7.0.2 upgrade

Since updating to 7.0.2 my iphone won't connect to any wifi network. I've done all the steps in help from forgetting the network to a full software reset and setting the phone up as a new device. Vodafone assured me that the next upgrade would correct the problem, it hasn't! They are now refusing to honour the warranty because the phone is now beyond its warranty ( due to waiting for the upgrade ).
I've Been assured by the tech guys at the local apple store that the problem is not hardware because the phone can see the networks.
Anyone know if apple have any plans to fix the wifi problem any if so when ?

Yes I've already restored the phone, once unconnected and again via iTunes, both times I set it up as a new phone and didn't restore the data or settings, I also deleted the iCloud account first so it couldn't backup from the cloud. The fault was exactly the same each time.
As far as the warranty I'm sick of arguing with Vodafone, the phone was in warranty when I reported the fault so you would think that they would honor the warranty, however I'm told by Vodafone that when I asked for a repair the warranty had expired.
Apple tell you all about European consumer law which provides additional protection, when you look into this it is advisory only and has no enforcement powers ( I've checked this with the ecl website).
Basically I'm stuck between two multinational companies that appear not to give a s*** about their customers!

  • Iphone won't connect to wifi network

iPhone won't connect to a wifi network - just get a message saying it won't connect to the network (it doesn't give me a message that I've got the password wrong). Other devices do join the network OK
What should I do to try t resolve it?

    Hi,
I bought my iPhone 4s yesterday and I'm having the same problem, my laptop, my old HTC Legend and my work macbook all connect to my wifi no problems.  My iPhone won't.
I've read through everything I can find on here, and on Sky help and have tried:
    Resetting router
    Resetting network settings on iphone
Using MAC address access control on the router
    Changing channels on the router
    Switching everything off and on
Someone suggested doing 'forget network' on the iphone, but I can't find this option
Turning off 3G and mobile data and trying to connect
Checking password is correct (it is)
Kind of at a loss now as to what I can do, I've emailed Sky and waiting for their advice, but should I take it back to the shop to exchange it?  Everything else I have connects just fine, no problem.
It just says "unable to join network"
    Anyone help?
    Thanks

  • Mac failing to connect to ethernet network/internet

Help this is driving me nuts. My mac connects to the network only intermittently. I have 3 macs networked via ethernet, connect to a switched ethernet hub which is connected to a dsl router. There are other PC's in the building that connect to this wired network and thus the internet. All the 3 macs (running leopard, all upates installed) have been set up using DHCP and all has been fine for years. Now one mac has trouble connecting to this network. The error messages imply the internet connection is at fault but both other macs and the PC's are connecting OK. I suspect its a network issue as the other macs can not see the faulty mac when it's playing up. I don't understand why 2 work fine but not the other. At times I could surf the net but mail failed to connect saying it could not connect to a server port. Now the mac seems to have dropped of the network completely - but it seems to see a ethernet connection when running diagnostics. I have not posted any error messages because they all seem to differ and are not consistent. Should I start again? what's the best way to set up a network like mine - it has been run like this for many many years. Am posting this on one of the other macs as the faulty mac has been offline for days now. Weeks ago we did have a similar problem on the third mac but after 1/2 hour and restarting the hub it has been running fine ever since. Thanks for reading this and if you need any more specific info, or for me to run a test and report the results, let me know.

    Hi Suggsy-
Your hub (switch?) could be failing. It is possible for one port to become flakey while the others all work fine. Can you try another port?
If that fixes it, combined with the other problem from weeks ago, it may be time to replace the hub.
If that does not fix it, be sure to try a new ethernet cable.
    Luck-
    -DP

  • I am heading out to the US from NZ and I want to buy an Iphone, Will it work in NZ if I buy from Apple and do not connect to any network until back in NZ? Thanks

I am heading out to the US from NZ and I want to buy an Iphone, Will it work in NZ if I buy from Apple and do not connect to any network until back in NZ? Thanks

When you get to the States, if you will be in an area with an Apple store for a couple days, call and ask about reserving an unlocked iPhone, it takes a couple days to get it in the store from what I understand.
The current MBP 15" models are 2.2 and 2.4 GHz i7 machines.  There is a 17" with 2.5 GHz i7.
The difference, in addition to the slightly faster cpu, is:
    2.2 GHz - Radeon HD 6750 M with 512 MB VRAM
    2.4 GHz - Radeon HD 6770 M with 1 GB VRAM
Both have the same hard drive, 750 GB 5400 rpm, both have the same primary graphics - Intel 3000.
So the difference is in the discrete grapics processor, important for heavy video work, heavy gaming...but will drain the battery a lot faster.
You can get all the details on any Mac computer by going to http://www.everymac.com and click on the model and then scroll down to the exact machine of interest.

  • IMac G3 won't connect to wireless network

We recently bought an Airport wireless card and adaptor, we fitted it into the G3 today and it won't connect to the network. After we type in the password this message appears " There was an error joining the AirPort network", when we go into system profile under "Wireless Card Locale". It says USA, we live in the UK could this be a problem? We bought the card via eBay from china.
And if it helps the G3 is running OS X 10.3.2, we have an Airport Express base station and our other macs connect to it ok.

Yes, it very well could. Different regions/countries have different rules regarding which radio frequencies are available for unlicensed use, such as wireless products. If you have a card for the US, and you're in the UK, they very well could be trying to use different frequency ranges and thus unable to connect.
Of course another, simpler, possibility is that you selected the wrong kind of wireless encryption. You should be using at least WPA, WEP is about the same as no encryption at all. I don't recall if 10.3 was ever updated to support WPA2 or not. If it does, once you get things all sorted out, if your router also supports WPA2, that'd be your best bet.
For the future, you might want to avoid buying things off ebay like that. I know that it's not exactly like you can just pop round to the nearest electronics store and pick up one of these things, but you're going to have to accept the possibility that you were sold the wrong part and that money is now gone. You're probably lucky the part wasn't some cheap counterfeit knockoff that caused some kind of internal damage when connected. There's a lot of enterprising ebay sellers in China who like to go dumpster diving at big manufacturing plants. Finding parts that were discarded for failing QA testing, and selling them on ebay to people who only care about finding the lowest possible price.
