My Mac won't start up just shows " You need to restart your computer"
After my itune failure, my mouse turned to the spin but nothing happened but it's so bothering so I restart my computer.
When it restart, my Mac just won't start up stuck in the apple logo with the spinner below then suddenly shows up "You need to restart you computer. Hold down the Power button for serveral seconds or press the restart button."
Do anyone know how to fix this?

Recently my macbook has been occasionally freezing and then coming up with a message in a few different languages saying that I have to restart my computer. I've heard that this is called a kernel panic. It only happens after I reopen my macbook after it's been sleeping. I have no idea what is causing this or how to fix it, it happens about once or twice each day. Any help?

The fact that you are able to reproduce it may help track it down and I would suggest you look at Dr Smoke's FAQs on the KP: he puts it all much better. I would suggest, however, that restarting after a KP may just be making things worse and some maintenance would be advisable. If you have the (grey) startup disks, insert Disk 1 and after selecting the language, use the Utilities menu and find Disk Utility. Using that, try and repair the disk, noting any messages that appear (in red).
Have you installed any new software lately or added memory (these are a place to start). Also add some more details to your information as to which MacBook (processor speed) and how much memory. -

Kernel panics, message saying "You need to restart your computer.Hold down the Power..." I am in the middle of HSC very URGENT please help!! Mac keeps needing to restart!!
I looked in console and its saying that it may be because of Sophos Anti-Virus, i deleted and uninstalled all traces of Sophos but looked in console and this is some of the lines coming up:

Just done routine update on my iMac, it asked me to restart and now have continual 'You need to restart your computer ...' What can I do?

I have a MacBook Pro 13.3 OS- MAC OS X LION.
Whenever I am staring the computer, it says You need to restart your computer by pressing the power button.
I did this number of times and everytime it freezes to the same screen.Solution needed urgently pls.

I have the "Hanvon 5040 drawing tablet",it was working perfectly with mac till last month.As soon as i plug the USB of my tablet into my macbook pro the computer is blocked and an error apears: "you need to restart your computer..."nothing works.Any help?
Check with the manufacturer for updated drivers for your tablet.

I try to install snow leopard on clean disk of my mac pro but after some seconds of processing, before any menu appears I get error message, saying I need to restart computer. I tried all suggestions I could find, but nothing is working. Would you advise please, what may be the problem cause?

Access to the Mac App Store would let you download (or re-download) 10.7.
So, YES, a retail 10.6 DVD would solve the problem.
Do you have another Mac?
There are a few more things you could do using another Mac:
1) you could hook up another Mac in FireWire target disk mode, and clone its drive onto yours. That could get you going IF the version installed on that other Mac is a separatley Purchased version.
2) You could copy the Recovery_HD from a Mac with a separately Purchased version of 10.7, and then use it to download a copy from the Mac App store. -

As others have noted, this is a classic kernel panic (KP) and should happen with a new machine. AppleCare's Express Lane. Do note that if you're within 50 miles (80 KM) of an Apple repair station, you're eligible for onsite repair since yours is a desktop machine.

Power Mac G4 (MDD) Won't Boot, Gives Error Screen "You need to restart..."
Hey guys, I got this Power Mac G4 (Dual 1.42GHz, 2GB Ram) from a neighbor about 3 weeks ago and it has been smooth sailing since I got it. However today my brother was using it, and got the rainbow loading mouse for a long time, nothing would open, I couldn't force quit any of the programs. So I just told him to hold the power button and restart. Well on reboot you hear the tone, then the Apple Logo appears then the screen shows up and says "You need to restart your computer..."
It happens no matter how many times I restart my computer. I've reset the RAM and the PRAM but it does the same thing. Any suggestions?Oh man, I'm so confused now. I don't know what could have happened.
I put in my Leopard Disc (that I got with my MBP) and booted it from disc, and it said I couldn't install 10.5 because 10.4 or later couldn't be found. That *****, could it be because I was running 10.5.4 and maybe it doesn't recognize it because 10.5.4 came out after this disc was made?
Also, since there are 3 hard drives, I don't know which one I have Leopard on, it's one of the 120gbs, but since this is handed down I don't know which drive is which and I don't know how to take the hard-drives out from the bracket, is there instructions for removing/installing hard drives.

EDIT: I talked to the guy who gave me this computer, he said that there was a problem with the battery, he said he replaced it about a year ago. Do you think that the battery could be a culprit in this problem? -

Just to make certain, you inserted the original installation disk and started the MBP holding down the C key? Did the Optical drive reject the disk or did it just spin? If the former, the lens in the drive may be dirty and needs to be cleaned. If the latter, you will have to take it to an Apple repair facility.

Mac won't start up and shows grey screen
My mac won't start up this morning ? It has a full charge of battery and even plugged in it just shows the grey screen. Any help.
Please restart your Mac and hold the 'Option'-key to see your start-up discs. If you do not see any start-up discs it could be your hard disk cable that is faulty. This is a common problem with Macbooks, but I am not sure this issue has been fixed with the Retina models. I've had this problem with my 2012 Pro, and a new cable did the job. Very easy to do yourself!
You can also start Internet Recovery (need wifi or cable) and start up Disk Utilities to see if your hard disk shows up there.

Can anyone help me get my iMac to reboot? I get a gray "curtain" over the light gray start up screen with a message that I need to restart my computer and to hold the power button until it powers off and then press the power button again to restart. It just does this over and over again and won't restart.
Yeah, as necronym stated, it is a hardware issue and more than likely a RAM problem. Disconnect everything from the computer except keyboard and mouse and try again. If it still happens try removing one and/or swapping your RAM sticks over. Keep trying until you have eliminated all possible combinations. Just put a mark on one RAM stick so you know what have tried. If it still fails to boot properly you should probably replace your RAM, but that is no guarantee of success.
