My mac wont power up

My emac has suddenly stopped working. It worked fine one day and then nada.
I have tried different power cables from other emacs with different sockets and still no joy. It is a 1.25ghz emac and I am puzzled as to why it has just stopped. Does anyone have any kind of suggestion to solve this .
Many thanks

Hello,
Completely unplug everything from the eMac and wait 15 minutes or more. Plug everything back in and try again. If that doesn't work, there is a possibility that you need a new "Internal Battery". It is also possible that there is a hardware component that has failed, such as the power supply or logic board. If you still cannot get it up and running, just post back and I will have you try something else.

    Hi Brennahunt,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your iPhone is not recognized by iTunes for Windows, try these troubleshooting steps first:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
If the steps in the article above do not solve the issue, completely remove and reinstall iTunes using the method in this article:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
This process should not affect any music or content on your computer, but you may want to
back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive.
When reinstalling iTunes (step 3 in the article above), be sure that you are logged in to your computer as an Administrator:
Make sure you have an administrator account.
To install iTunes or QuickTime, you need to log in as an administrator on the computer. • Installed Snow Leopard now my Mac wont power up

I have a Mac mini 1.66 it's three years old. Before installing Snow Leopard I haven't had any problems. After installing it my mac won't start. It shows no sign of power even though it's plugged in. Any suggestions?? Was it just it's time and it happened to coincide with the installation?

Your suggestion is essentially the same as one in the Apple SMC reset article, except for pressing the power button even if the Mini is off & waiting longer before trying to start it up. Pressing the power button after the Mini is already off will not 'drain any residual power' -- the SMC is the subsystem that (among other power-related functions) monitors the power button for presses & powers up or down the rest of the computer.
Because it has this function, it is important not to press the power button at the wrong time during the reset procedure, which can abort it.

  • Mac wont power up !

    Hi
My mac mini (OSX 10.5.8) seems to have completely died.
I had left it for a few hours downloading and when I returned the monitor was displaying a no input signal and the mac was making a gargling noise (like it does on normal start up before the apple sound). I presume this is the hard drive starting up but it then stops and the cycle repeats same gargling noise. Its similar to when a DVD crashes.
Rebooting did not work, still the same noise and there is never any signal going to the monitor.
Can anyone help me diagnose this or help fix it? Its out of warranty from KRCS a apple retailer. But I have been told if I contact the Genius team at an official apple store they may fix it for free, is their any truth to this.
    King Regards

have you tried booting from the install DVD that came with the machine ?

  • ITunes crashed now Mac mini wont power back on

iTunes crashed now Mac mini wont power back on

You have not provided any information on which to base troubleshooting. Minimal information would include the Model Mac mini you have for example Mid 2010 Mac mini, exactly what happened when iTunes crashed, and what -- if anything -- happens when you try to restart. It is unlikely iTunes has anything to do with the failure to reboot but instead iTunes crashed because of what even caused your Man mini to fail.
Just as a starting point, be sure and check all your connections, power, monitor, keyboard, mouse, everything. You would not be the first to have a plug come adrift unexpectedly.

  • Mac wont recognize external usb HD anymore.

    Hello all,
I have an external seagate HD that I formatted on my mac which worked on both pc and mac fine. Suddenly my mac wont pick it up when I plug it in. The pc still does. Was this after the update? SO, I re-formatted on pc to ntfs and still no go. ANy help please on how to gain access to it on mac with only communication being with pc. Thanks!

    Try a simple SMC reset:
Reset the SMC (for MacBook, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air models with internal batteries):
    1. shut down the MAC
    2. Plug in the MacSafe adapter (i.e.power cord/charger)
    3. PRESS AND HOLD SHIFT+CONTROL+OPTION+POWER buttons at the same time
    4. Release all keys and buttons simultaneously
    5. press the power button to turn on your mac as usual

  • How do you transfer data from a good G5 hardrive that wont power up?

I have an old G5 that wont power up but the hardrive is still good, I want to pull the HD and transfer the data to my new Mac Book Pro, any suggestions? thanks so much

    Reb,
You can do your file transfers with the swiss army knife that aqua suggested.  That was my first thought.
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Newer%20Technology/U2NV2SPATA/?APC=XLR8YourMac09
However, if you purchase an external firewire drive, it will give you far more options.  You can install a clean system on it using your Mac Book Pro and try to revive your G5.  The G5 will boot from an external firewire drive but not the USB adapter/swiss knife.
You can also open the external case, swap out drives and use it as a firewire version of the swiss army knife to transfer files from the G5.
If you get the G5 is going, you could look at Disk Utilities and see if something on the G5 drive is the reason the computer is not starting.
    Just some options to consider.
    Jim~

  • Since installing a new router my mac wont remember it

Since installing my new WD N900 router last week, my mac wont remember my setting when i close the lid or turn the mac off.  All my other apple prodcts remember the router. Iphone,Ipad and apple tv. So I know it not the router. I previously used the standard TalkTalk Cable router and everything worked fine.
what I have to do is click on the WI-FI symbol and pick my router from the list each time.
Plese help guys as it a really annoying process.

First contact your ISP.  You need to confirm that the issue is not on their end.
Change your router channel.  Sometimes this is all you will have to do.
Power cycling the router.  Read the router's user manual or contact their tech support for instructions.

  • Battery full - Mac wont start.  Heeeelp!

I just purchased my MacBook a month ago and I love it. Now Im having a problem...
I just had this problem today. The battery is full but my Mac wont start. But when I connect it to the power adaptor - it will start. Should I change something on the Energy saver option?
I've tried to remove the battery and placed it back, but the problem is still the same. I need your help please... thanks in advance.

Yup, looks like you've joined the Macbook Shutdown/won't boot club. Mine did the same after the random shutdown problem. I reset the PMU and NVRAM and PRAM and suddenly it wouldn't boot or operate on battery. Let me guess, it works fine on the adapter, but when you pull the plug it immediately shuts down, right? Even though the battery is fully charged? I'm also from DK. Did you buy yours at Humac? Mine is being repaired as we speak, well actually it's waiting for parts (new logic board and battery) but it's taking forever. Turned it in on july 25th and it is still waiting for parts. My advice is to demand a new one, don't hand it in for repair, because I seriously don't think they know what is wrong yet. What week is your Mac(Check the serial-number and post it)?
I've heard that a lot of people got the LB replaced, but soon after the problems started again.

  • Quicksilver wont power up

Has anyone ever experienced this, my 1Ghz DP, wont power up. When you press the power button, the power button will light up for a second then go back out, no fans, no drives spinning. The red LED on the mainboard gives one quick flash also.

    Hi, Dale!
It's unclear to me here whether the battery was replaced, but resetting the PMU and/or booting without one should enable MacFella to startup. We'll see how it goes from there...
Two days ago, I had my own share of PMU and Cuda resets. I had issues after sudden shutdown on both the QS G4 and the G3 due to a short power loss here at home. (It took me two hours to correct things and caused me to rethink my decision to operate without a UPS.) Although I have backup clones and data loss wasn't any concern, the G3 wouldn't start until I did a Cuda reset; and then I found it's primary drive startup drive had invalid sibling link problems that DU wouldn't touch (used DiskWarrior, kept my fingers crossed, and once again confirmed it's worth). The G4's USB would go dead at startup, but I could boot to Single User Mode and to open firmware, which then went into a continuous scroll of reporting that the USB controller was, quote: "dead". That was intriguing and had me going for awhile, since I used a USB keyboard to get to open firmware in the first place! All's well now, though, with nothing broke and nothing lost. In my somewhat bizarre way of thinking, it was actually fun troubleshooting my own Macs for a change, and it did confirm for me that a power loss can indeed create multiple issues.
    Enjoy the LD weekend!
