My MacBook Air 2011 11" won't turn on. Please Help!

Hey Guys!
So I used my computer last night and it was fine, but when I woke up this morning, it would not turn on. I tried pressing the power button, but the screen showed nothing and the fan began to run really loudly. After a while of trying this over and over again, the fan stopped running so loudly and the computer (by itself) would try to turn on and then would fail and then try to turn on again. I tried different things that other forums told me to do, but now the fan is running loudly again when I try to turn it on.
I am currently living abroad in Imbabura, Ecuador, so I do not have easy access to an Apple Store (or Macmundo, as they are called here) but I will make the trip if I have to. So if anyone else has experienced this problem and knows how to fix it, I would be very very grateful!
Thanks! And I hope everyone has a great day!

    Thanks
    Jan

The power adaptor will always get a little warm or even hot during use.
How hot did it get? Was it smoking, melting, or discoloring?
If not, then that little bit of heat is usual and you shouldn't worry about it too much.
    Hope this helps,

    Try:

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • How do I download my Microsoft office on to my MacBook Air using airdrop from my iMac? Please help

How do I download my Microsoft office on to my MacBook Air using airdrop from my iMac? Please help

Out of curiosity, does Microsoft's licensing allow for such an install and/or more than one install? I just did a cursory check on their licensing and found that most are only licensed for one computer unless you buy a special key card.
I had a different app once that was only allowed on one computer; it would not install on the other Mac. You may therefore encounter problems - since you must have an install CD, why not use that if you have the key card allowing you to install it on more than one?

  • MacBook Air won't turn on :( please help me !

A few weeks ago I dropped my Macbook air on tiles (not from a very high distance at all) and the next day when I turned it on it worked fine. Then after a few days it randomly shut down twice so I shut it down for a few hours and after that it worked fine again. Then the next day it shut down randomly again so I asked my bf to help and I think he downloaded a software or something on it without telling me because I always tell him not to download anything. when I tried turnin it on again it made a noise like a big fan (I'm not sure if this was before or after my be touched it) and now it won't turn on at all   the charger still works because the light is green when I plug it in. I also noticed that there is a crack on the bottom which may have been from dropping It. Im going away this afternoon and won't be able to take it to an Apple store until I get back but if anyone can please tell me what might be wrong  with it and if it's hard to fix/ expensive to fix or fixable at all can you please let me know ! I will appreciate it so much !!

Please make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service.

  • Macbook air late 2012 won't turn on - Shows blinking no folder icon

    Hello,
I bought my Macbook air in October 2012. Last night I tried updating my OS but the computer froze and I had to force restart it in the middle of the download. When I attempted to turn it on again it shows the blinking folder with a question mark on the white screen. It took around a minute for it to appear after the startup chime. I tried starting my Mac holding the option key and the only drives available are the internet recovery drive.
    Please help me!
    Thank you for every answer!

Check  the Software update and run it if one is available.

  • My MacBook Pro shutdown after it said my USB was draining to much power and now won't turn on please help

Hi my MacBook will not turn on after it said my USB was draining to much power, and it shut down and now won't turn back on please help

USB power management is part of the SMC (system management controller).  Try to reset SMC: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
Then get a self-powered USB external hub.  It takes power from a wall socket and saves the MBP power system.  Starting at $20 at BestBuy and similar stores.

  • Macbook Air Trackpad And Keyboard Unresponsive!! PLEASE HELP!

Hello everyone, a while ago (about 2 months) my Macbook air started having troubles with its trackpack and keyboard. At random times they would become unresponsive and just stop working. They would work for like 1 second when the computer turns on but then it would stop. A couple weeks ago the problem stopped occuring the keyboard and trackpad were working fine and dandy. Of course until last night, I open the computer and the trackpad and keyboard won't work.. The keyboard lights are on and the power button works but nothing else does it is extremely frustrating! I did an SMC reset which worked for like 5 minutes until it stopped working again. I have done a NVRAM reset nothing, I have done everything that I have seen but I need a fix for this! The mac is running OS X 10.9.3 and I am pretty sure that is the latest. Please help me guys I am really getting frustrated with this undying problem ;/

you don't need to disassemble your device.

  • MacBook Air "Stuck" on booting OS X ? Please help {: - )

Ah, this is my only computer, and I need to finish a college assignent, and don't ahve any cash to take it to a Mac Store; Would appreciate any and all input!
Okay, my MacBook Air "was working fine last night" as the line goes, when I went to boot it this morning, the dispaly would come on, i could see the "APPLE" logo, and the "status circle" thing circling.
the display will stay on for about 63 seconds or so, then contines to cycle. I have checked the magsafe adaptor, it is getting power.
the led sleep indicator is not doing a funky blink pattern, nor does it make any "new" sounds.
I have scoured the Mac website under the TROUBLESHOOTING section, but to no avail. there doesn't seem to be POWER ON issue, and i don't think, based off of what I read, that it was a battery issues, but what appears to be happening is the OS is not loading.
Is there another way to try to REPAIR to OS? Not sure what the issue is, but, i am really confused by this! I have had the computer PROBLEM FREE for aver a year now, and i am at a loss, and have to turn in a major paper for college on Tues!
    THANKS!

  • Macbook Air 11" Log-In Language Unchangeable. Please Help!

    Hello All
I recently purchased this MacBook Air 11" from someone, and it had some folders in Asian (yes, I know Asian is not a language per se, but I do not want to say Simplified Chinese, or Japanese, or Korean, or whatever for fear of offending people that speak the language). I went to System Preferences and changed the language in region/language to English. The MacBook when purchased didn't have a password to login.
Later on my nephew recommended I format the system, so it was anew. He started to try formatting it, only realising that the language was still somehow Asian. He knew how to go by the prompts thankfully, and ended up formatting it with one wipe. It was still Asian fonts staring at us by the end of the process though.
He changed some of the settings and ended up getting it to show in English. He added a login/pw combo this time, and whenever we are faced with the login screen (you see below in the pic I took with my mobile) now, it is in Asian. Everything else seems to be in English, just that screen.
This worries me, as when I may need to format the system once more, what if the process pops up in Asian again, and I have no access to my nephew, I would be stranded!
Somehow, we came to the conclusion that this particular MacBook was set to have Asian as the default language. Am I wrong?
Login Screen (by the way, how does one take a screenshot of the login screen on a MacBook Air?)
I went through a few threads and none helped me. I took a screenshot of the Systems Preferences, in case someone tries telling me to go to the Language/Regional settings to change the language, as I do not have access to it through there.
    System Preferences
Thank you for your time and concern.

    From the menu bar, select
     ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Language & Text ▹ Language ▹ Edit List...
Deselect each unwanted language and click OK. Then select the Region tab, and select your region from theRegion menu at the top.
Close the preference pane. You may have to log out and log back in for the change to take effect.

    Please help

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased.
