My Macbook Air(2012) and Apple TV won't mirror!!
I purchased New MacBook Air August 2012 and Apple TV last month.
They are updated as the most recent versions.
They all are up-to-date and they are all on the same network.
They work sometimes, and most of times it won't airplay. (they don't conncect properly to each other.)
I don't want any answers about "get updates and they need to be on the same network."
Oh My home sharing is on, too. but doesn't work. they are under the same ID.
Internet works Fine!! because I can download everything on the Apple TV.
EXCEPT!!! Home Sharing and Airplay
I think it's Apple TV problem because I have iPhone5 and when my MacBook Air works, iPhone works too.
Do you think I should bring it in to the Apple Store??
I thought it was my MacBook Air problem because it wasn't updated properly, but nope. I think it is the TV.
Please help me. I'm so frustrated- about this- I was so excited about this, and I had problems from the beginning.

I think you are saying mirror works sometimes but not others? If that is the case then it is likely interference from a household appliance or something near by knocking your network.
As you purchased you MB Air around the time OSX 10.8 was released, if you have NEVER had mirroring, confirm you have that OS and now OS X 10.7 Lion. Even the most updated Lion will not mirror.
If neither of these are the case I have mis-read your post.

Airdrop not working between MacBook Air 2012 and iMac2014 in Yosemite
I can transfer files using Finder / Shared section, so the two computers are connected. But the AirDrop application doesn't recognize either my iMac (2014) on my MacBook Air (2012), or vice versa. I am running Yosemite. I also have a MacMini (2010) that doesn't show up anywhere as well.
I also have an older iPhone4 (2010) that doesn't run Yosemite. If I buy the new iPhone6, I would like to use AirDrop to transfer files between my phone and 2 computers as well.

Before you sell or give away your computer, in addition to the steps mentioned in this support article, take these steps:
Run the Apple Hardware Test or Apple Diagnostics. The buyer will do this (or he should), and you don't want to be surprised by the results.
Reset the PRAM and the SMC, which might contain personal information.
If you set a firmware password, remove it by running Firmware Password Utility in Recovery mode.
If you activated FileVault in OS X 10.7 or later, turn it off.
If you use Boot Camp, the partition must be deleted
If you created any other data partitions on the internal drive, remove them in Disk Utility.
Erase the data partition(s) with the option to zero out data. An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.
You can't legally or practically transfer any software downloaded from the Mac App Store to the new owner of the machine, even if it was free. That includes OS X, so if you upgraded to OS X 10.7 or later, you must reinstall the original OS, either from the installation media, if applicable, or by booting into Internet Recovery (option-command-R at the startup chime.) If you installed from discs or a read-only USB key, deliver those to the new owner.
The new owner will have to repurchase the software, if need be, under his or her Apple ID. If you ever updated the bundled iLife applications (Garage Band, iMovie, and iPhoto) through the App Store, you can't transfer them either.
Remove the machine from your list of registered products. If it's still covered by an AppleCare Protection Plan, transfer the coverage to the new owner by following the instructions in the AppleCare Terms and Conditions (under the heading "Transfer of Plan.") -
I'm struggling to NetInstall a MacBook Air 2012 and amd looking to the Apple family for help
This is the scenario:
Lion Server running 10.7.4
Download Install Mac OS X Lion.app from App Store (Build 11E53)
Use SIU to create a NetInstall Image
On MacBook Air (Build 11E2702) reboot and hold down "alt" I can see all enabled hosted images
Select the newly created NetInstall Image
MacBook Air fails to boot displaying no entry sign
Now this is where I get confused as everything I've read says that all I need to do is download the lastest version of the Lion Install app and use that create a new image
So what am I doing wrong?

Wireless deployment is not supported with the NetBoot Service. This has always been the case with Apple's own tools. Read the extremely small and informative section entitled "NetBoot and Airport" here:

To give you an idea of performance - I've deployed a 17GB Image to 6 MacBook Airs simultaneously in around 2 hours. The MBAs were placed as close as possible to the nearest 5Ghz enabled WAP for maxmimum bandwidth availability and when nothing else was on the wireless network.
As ever and depending on the quality of the network and the size of image, YMMV.

ThxHi! How are you? The reason why I'm here is to find out more about SDXC support/compatibility info on the macbook air 2012 and how to fix this nagging issue if it's fixable.
I had just bought a Sandisk extreme pro 64GB rated at 95mb/s for my Nikon DSLR. Unfortunately, MBA struggles to detect or mount my card, after a few sweats, it would mount, but then very slow to process and preview the images as "Thumbnail preview". Then, after a few more sweats, you can scroll through the thumbnails smoothly.
Streaming HD videos straight from the SD Slot is butcher chopping the beef. Video lags, stutters, chops, in otherwords, USELESS and a pain in the neck. So you just want to copy all the files to your macbook, and play from there. Copying files from SDXC to my macbook takes forever; writing is also another issue that take much more than forever!
I have a top of the line macbook air 2012 (i7, 8GB, 512) and I always thought it's a versatile reliable computer but now I'm very disappointed. On the other hand, doing the same things on my macbook pro 2010 is seamless. I also tested on my windows 8 desktop to be flawless as well.
Therefore, the memory card is not the problem. It's macbook air's sd slot that's a failure. I never thought spending $2,199 for a super computer would make me stress like this. In addition, the magsafe 2 is another failure in design. It always disconnects just by moving my macbook air from one spot of the table to another. Having it charged while on my lap gets on my nerves when it keeps getting disconnected! I hate Apple for doing this. If only there was a Windows notebook that surpasses Apple's design, I would never EVER buy Apple products EVER again. -

I have a new Macbook Air 2012, Apple TV 2 and I have tried wired and wireless connections both still result in stuttering during video airplay to the ATV2.
I have even bought a new Airport Extreme Router just to confirm it is not the router and it still didn't help.
I have brought all items in the same room with wired connections and still same issue.
I was thinking maybe ATV 3 might help since it has 2 wifi antennas and faster processor.
Have tried everything I could think of.
This was one of the main reasons I bought a Macbook Air for this airplay feature. Very frustrated.

I also disabled Norton Firewall and restarted the Air and Now I'm able to use Air Play.
I know that the Apple remedy said that to do that in the support article, but I totally forgot I had that enabled..
It actually works. I can even stream to the Apple TV now through my MacBook Air.
BTW, Go into setting under the ATV, and click on update...you'll see that there was another update avaialble for the last gen of ATV...
It does have to restart twice..I guess once to download and and nother to apply. -
Problems with my external USB 3.0 (Toshiba) hard drive and Macbook Air 2012
I can't seem to get any help on this from Apple and I am tired of ti I have a new Macbook Air 2012 model and have several Toshiba external USB 3.0 drives. I did the Mountain Lion App Store 10.8.2 update and all of a sudden non of my drives are mountable or accessible. I've been in IT 16 years and have never seen anything like this. The drives are physically fine and I can see the mapped partitions on a Windows 7 machine just fine and even use HFS Explorer to view the directory structures. The data on these drives is extremely important to not only me, but also the DoD who I am working with on a major project. Now I can't get to my documents to edit them or pull down the virtual machines I setup for my labs.
I've done all sorts of research and googled myself to death. I even foudn the "missing because Apple pulled" 2.0 update to try and fix this issue. Whatever was done with ML 10.8.2 on these notebooks renders the USB ports useless. Does anyone have a solution to getting these drives to mount?I have the same issue.
I have two disks HDTC720XK3C1 (Portable Toshiba Hard Disk, USB 3.0 + 2.0, 2.0 TB). Purchased on the same date and same model. One inexplicably stopped working.
When i connect the drive, the systems show an message that say:
"You need format the drive <x> before can you use it
Do you want to format it"
I attach the two pictures with the screen error and disk managment.
Question for the group: These devices seem not very reliable ? this type of error the warranty covers? Sugestions ?
i think, that a backup tool should be secure. This is the 7th time I use it and the data is completely lost. Opinions?

I am going to be buying a macbook air 2012 model with 4 GB ram soon. I was wondering how much space (memory) does Norton AV take up and does it drastically slow down the computer. Also, I am going off to uni so will predominantly be using the laptop for surfing and MS office.

In this age of email attachments and social networks, it is actually a good idea to have a good antivirus on your system. {I realize that this is a religious argument and I will say no more}. With that said, the general concensus is that Norton AV is terrible. It is intrusive and uses up a lot of cycles.
There are a lot of better AV clients out there. I use ClamXav which is free and uses the clamav antivirus that is open source. -
I just ordered a macbook air today and need to know if the 128gb SSD is enough space. I presently have a macbook pro and am using only 30gb hard drive space so, the apple rep said 128 is enough as I do not load much pictures or gaming etc. Also is i5 ok.
Id choose the I5 yes, depends on what your usage is going to be,
....your question about "128 gig being enough" begs the question for IDEALIZED USE of your macbook AIr
In the case of a Macbook Air with ‘limited’ storage on the SSD, this distinction becomes more important in that in an ever rapidly increasing file-size world, you keep vital large media files, pics, video, PDF collections, music off your SSD and archived on external storage, for sake of the necessary room for your system to have free space to operate, store future applications and general workspace. You should never be put in the position of considering “deleting things” on your macbook SSD in order to ‘make space’.
*Generally, unless you NEED the data at least once every few weeks or once a month,...it really does'nt NEED to be on the SSD of your Macbook Air.
Professionals who create and import very large amounts of data have almost no change in the available space on their computers internal HD because they are constantly archiving data to arrays of external or networked HD.
Or in the case of the consumer this means you keep folders for large imported or created data and you ritually offload and archive this data for safekeeping, not only to safeguard the data in case your macbook has a HD crash, or gets stolen, but importantly in keeping the ‘breathing room’ open for your computer to operate, expand, create files, add applications, for your APPS to create temp files, and for general operation.
Ive got more APPS than any human should have on my 128gig AIR,..(50 or so),....and 10gig of working data, important files etc etc.
Still have 82gig available....... the entire point is that someone shouldnt consider the Air a "storage device" for tons of pics, music, vids, etc.
*Never consider any computer a data storage device at any time under any circumstance, rather a data creation, sending, and manipulation device. Anyone who thinks data is safe on any computer, even copied upon multiple partitions is making a mistake that will, without fail, strike.
For needs of packing around a LOT of "big data" with your Air in its case..., get a nice 1TB HD for $70, or even a 2TB drive not much bigger.

My MacBook Air 2012 turns on an the key board lights up however the screen stays black but when I shine a torch through the apple sign on the back you can see the login is there a way to fix this??

Recompiled from LV6.1 to LV7.0, now I can't configure CIN
I have a VI using a CIN that works in LV 6.1 and in LV7.0 (no CIN load errors). BUT, I can't configure the CIN in LV7.0, even after reloading the .lsb file. All the inputs are unnamed as well (the pop-up says simply 'input'). But the vi still works.
