  • MacBook Air doesn't recognize its own hard drive.

Hey, so I have a MacBook Air that I purchased in 2012 and last night, I was going to download the new update for my iPhone, but before I did, iTunes mentioned something about transferring new purchases. The only thing close enough to consider as such were two new apps I downloaded for free. However, after I synced my iPhone and was about to start the update, it froze. So I restarted it and when I did a blank screen with a flashing question mark showed up. It did that foray hour or two and then I got to the Mac OS X Utilities screen with the four options to restore my computer. I couldn't use any of these though because my computer didn't recognize its hard drive. Planning to take it in for help but would love to hear any suggestions. Thanks!

It sounds like your SSD (Solid State Drive) has failed, mine did the same thing two weeks ago. There has been a problem with the 2012 MBA SSDs and many people have the same issue. If you take it to Apple, they should be able to sort it out.

Hi Did you go to system preferences > click Display  to mirror your Mac to your TV? I'm having a problem with my 2011 macbook and my Vizio TV .. the display works but the audio does not.
If you got yours to work since you posted this,
    Any ideas??

  • I set up an apple ID and password on my iphone but then my MacBook Air won't recognize the password

I set up an apple ID and password on my Iphone and the apple mail account works fine on the Iphone.
I then went to my MacBook Air and entered the same ID and password to set up an apple mail account, but it says my password is incorrect.
    How can that be?

More information--I deleted the apple email account from my iPhone and created an apple email account on my MacBook Air. It worked fine on the MacBook, but then the password would not be recognized on the iPhone. It is as if I can only have an apple email account on only one device at a time!

  • HT3275 macbook air doesn't recognize time capsule

time capsule isn't recognized by Air. The amber light just keeps blinking. I have a new router that has a different name and have an ethernet connected to the Time Capsule. If my wireless is working why can't I find the Time Capsule on my computer?
    Please help. thanks

Need some more details.. what is the main modem? What is the router that the TC is plugged into?
Is the TC setup in bridge? Why not plug the TC straight into the modem?
TC may not be available on the computer because you are connected to the wireless router and not the TC.
Do you have anything with ethernet to do the setup on the TC.. working with wireless is a pain, Payne.
The air has a usb to ethernet adapter to get you out of trouble.
If you are stuck with wireless, turn off any other wireless router.. press and hold the TC reset button for 10sec.. then the only wireless the Air should see if the TC. Connect and run the utility.. bridge the TC.. sorry but how to do that without using 5.6 utility you will need to look up.. but somewhere there is internet connection and you should be able to select connection sharing.. off bridge mode. Once you do that, updat the TC.. and plug it back into the main router and start everything up again.
It might also be a good idea to fix the wireless names, short no spaces pure alphanumeric and lock the channels wireless is using. That improves the stability of the system.

  • Image Capture doesn't recognize my Built-in iSight Camera

I'm trying to use Image Capture but when I open the application is shows the following message:
    "No scanner or camera connected".
It's supposed the camera is connected because I'm also using Skype video call (not at the same time I'm trying to use Image Capture) and there's no problem with it.
Image Capture was working perfectly couple months ago, now it isn't.
Does somebody know what the problem might be?
Thanks for your comments and opinions.
    Sebastian.

image capture doesn't use the isight, it's for other digital cameras & scanners. use the screen capture ability. hold, command shift, press 4 & tap spacebar to see a camera icon. click on an open / active window when it's lighted in blue, click the mouse. saves the pic as a png on your desktop.

  • Hi, my macbook air doesn´t recognize my password :( and i can't change it with my apple id cause its not activated.. help!!

    Can somebody help me?? Thanks.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
In this case, you have to reset the password. If you are using Mac OS X Snow Leopard, see "Resetting your original administrator account password" > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1274
If you are using OS X Mountain Lion and/or Lion, see > http://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4101

  • Macbook pro doesn't recognize camera on image capture

My MacBook Pro doesn't recognize the built-in camera for a lot of my applications, including Image Capture. It doesn't show up anywhere in my system preferences. Any idea why this is so?

    (1)  Mac's built-in camera does not work with Image Capture.
Image Capture works with external devices like scanners, some iOS devices, some cameras and RAM cards, etc.  Click this link for more info about Image capture and some of the apps that can work with your inbuilt camera.
Click here for info about how to use Image Capture to transfer images from a connected external camera.
For more info about Image Capture functions, see Image Capture > Help on your Mac or the Apple pages in this link.
    (2) To test for application-specific problems mentioned in the "How to Troubleshoot iSight " article, use apps like Photo Booth, QuickTime Player, iChat, FaceTime, or others intended to work with your Mac's inbuilt camera.
    (3) To test for user-specific problems mentioned in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090 the "How to Troubleshoot iSight " article, you must have more than one user account.  Do NOT use the "Guest" account.  Click this link if you need help creating new accounts for testing.

  • My macbook air doesn't let me use the internal microphone

My macbook air doesn't let me use the internal microphone while my headphones are plugged in.  The reason I want to use the internal mic is that the person I talk to can hear me louder if I used the internal mic.  Can someone help please ASAP?  Thanks.

I assume you're using the 3 slot mini jack of the Apple earbuds/ mic.    Use a 2 slot headphone jack that doesn't make contact with the the microphone contact in the headset jack on the AIr.
The Air has a HEADSET jack, in which either headphones or headsets can be used.
headset jack on left, for both MIC and headset...............headphone jack for earbuds/ speakers on right (listening only)

  • What is the official Apple error number if the airport hardware on a macbook air doesn't work?

What is the official Apple erro number if the airport hardware on a MacBook Air doesn't work?

    Welcome to the  Discussions
Actually that is not enough information.
Was this to an AIM on PC Buddy ?
If so which version were they using ?
Was it to a Tiger Buddy on iChat ?
The log says it was one on the other and not a Leopard Buddy as there SIP port is listed as port 5061.
Also what routing devices are you using ?
Makes Models and version numbers please.
Which ports do you have open ?
What method did you use ?
In fact read this FAQ even though it was written at the time Tiger came out

  • TS4006 my iCal in my new MacBook Air doesn't sync with the iCal data in my iPad despite having it "checked" (ON) in the system preferences iCloud. what else do i have to do to activate the iCal and have sync with my iPad?

    Issue: iCal
I can't sync the iCal in my new MacBook Air with the existing iCal in my iPad. I went to system preferences (settings) to iCloud and checked the iCal to enable it to sync to my existing iPad iCal. Still nothing happened. It's strange because i successfully synced my contacts doing the same thing. Is there anything I have to have my iCal activated in my new MacBook Air?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
First check that all your settings are correct, that calendar syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the calendars you are using are in your 'iCloud' account and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud account (you can do this by clicking/tapping the calendar button in the top left corner of the application ), non iCloud calendars will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your calendars are in the iCloud account, you might try unchecking calendar syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling calendar syncing settings.

  • My FaceTime Camera of my MacBook Air doesn't work in Skype.

My FaceTime Camera of my MacBook Air doesn't work in Skype. I try to make a videocall but my camera doesn't work.

Be sure to check PHOTOBOOTH and FACETIME in more than one user account.  However, don't use the "Guest" account for testing.  If your Mac only has one account, create a new user account for testing.
    • If Apple's http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090
suggestions do not help you, (the "reset" suggested there
often restores normal function,) continue with the following.
    • Use your Mac's Disk Utility to repair permissions and then
download and apply the latest Combo Update, for your Mac OS,
the current one is at: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1484
    • Repair permissions again immediately following the system restart
       that completes the Combo update.
Properly applying the Combo version of updates can sometimes correct software problems, but, if your trouble is caused by a hardware problem, there are no user serviceable parts of iSight.  For hardware help, contact an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service.
The same Troubleshooting help for built-in iSight works for FaceTime (and FaceTime HD) cameras, too.
If your camera works with Apple apps in every user account you test, search or post for help in Skype's dedicated forum.  The Skype users who post there may have already know the solution for your particular problem.

Itunes 12.1.2.27, macbook air, Doesn't quit and doesn't recognised just iphone6 plus ios 8.1.2.
it does recognize iphone5 and other iphone 6

    Hi Chalmita,
For your immediate issue of the MacBook Air not shutting down, try the following:
OS X Yosemite: Log out, sleep, restart, and shut down
    https://support.apple.com/kb/PH18786?locale=en_US
Hold down the power button until you see the restart, sleep, or shut down dialog, then click Shut Down, or press Return.
If you don’t want the app windows you currently have open to reopen when you restart your Mac and sign in, deselect “Reopen windows when logging back in.”
If your Mac won’t shut down, press and hold the power button for 5 seconds to force a shutdown.
Important:   If you force a shutdown, you may lose unsaved changes in open documents.
The Mac is completely shut down when there is a black screen, no active power light, and no fan or drive noise.
What version of OS X do you have on your Mac?  It might be helpful to back up your computer with Time Machine and update to the latest version, which is 10.0.3.  Do the same with your iPhones so that everything is up to date.
