My Macbook Air no longer recognises my Samsung display

Hi All - today i found my Macbook Air no longer detects my Samsung LCD display- model LS23A350 - i've tried plugging and un-plugging power sources and cables, even clicking 'detect displays' then connecting the mini DVI cable but to no avail.
Coincedentally it also no longer detects my Apple wireless keyboard but does the wireless Apple trackpad....
thanks for any help.

Used 'Assist Me' as suggested - awsesome. Here is what was wrong with my network. Had same problem - found out I had another router plugged in but not active. Turns out it was still xmitting a signal and confusing the macbook. Go figure. Once it was powered off - connection was perfect. Hope this helps.

  • I have my Macbook Air hooked up to a Tunderbolt Display, is there any way to either power on or wake from sleep mode using an Apple USB keyboard pluged into the Thunderbolt display?

I have my Macbook Air hooked up to a Thunderbolt Display, is there any way to power on the Macbook Air using an Apple USB keyboard plugged into the Thunderbolt display? I would like to be able to keep the Macbook Air in the Archbook dock and not have to open it to power it on?

MacBook Air connected to projector won't display the dvd in the superdrive, but it is playing on the MacBook Air screen.
When dvd is ejected, MB A screen appears on the big screen through the projector. What do I need to do to get the training dvd showing on the screen?

Power off the router. Unplug it from the wall. Wait a while.
Plug it back to the wall. Power the router on. Wait until all the lights are lit properly. It will take a while.

Is the display turned on? Sometimes it is the simplest of solutions, when details are missing.

I found that the screen won't wake up if only the thunderbolt connection is plugged. Is this normal ?

I just got my ATD and late 2011 MBP up and running. I've not tried running without the power adapter from the ATD plugged in, but I just tried and didn't have any problems with the display not waking. You may want to take your query to the ATD forum - https://discussions.apple.com/community/peripherals/thunderbolt_display - perhaps someone there has experienced a similar issue.

  • MacBook Air No Longer Sees Remote External Drive

I have an iMac with a FW800 connected external hard drive. I use it for Time Machine backups. Also use an Airport Extreme for wireless connection. My MacBook Air at one time was able to "see" that external drive via the Airport and I used it to backup the laptop with Time Machine. Now, all of a sudden, the MBA no longer sees the external drive. What has happened? I use the MBA only occasionally, and told Time Machine to backup only when I tell it to. So, LOTS probably has changed since the last backup. But, what change has broken this connection? My iMac sees it just fine and does Time Machine backups just fine. When I want to share the DVD drive of the iMac, that works as it should. I just can't see that dang external drive any longer. Both machines are at 10.5.6
Can you folks give me some places to start looking to get things working again?

Does the time machine volume meet the requirements?
-internal drive, not start up disk
    -XSAN volume
    -USB drive
    -fire wire drive
    -eSATA drive
-network server via AFP (from machines running Leopard), including machines running file sharing
the volume must be formated as Mac OS Extended or Mac OS Extended (case-sensitive)
    You can't use:
    -Boot Camp partition
    -iPod
    -disk image
    -AirPort Disk
    -iDisk

  • MacBook Air spends long time in blue screen

When my MacBook Air boots from the internal hard disk, it spends 30 s hanging on the blue screen. This seem excessive. When I boot it from an external hard disk, it spends 1-2s on the blue screen. In itself it doesn't bother me, but I worry it's a symptom of some bigger problem.
Background: my hard disk broke, Apple installed a new hard disk, and I reinstalled from a TM backup using migration assistant. Everything works fine, I checked the new hard disk using disk util. Only the long blue screen pause seems out of sorts. Could some junk have come over when I used migration assistant? How could I identify it?

    Hi
This is usually caused by a StartUp Item, Launch Daemon or Launch Agent. Try a Safe Boot, to see if it makes a difference. If so, then have a look in the following folders:
    /Library/LaunchAgents/
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/
    /Library/StartupItems

  • Macbook Air no longer recognizes external audio devices

My Macbook air's audio port recently stopped recognizing external devices such as speakers and headphones.
The external devices are functional with other devices and fully plugged in, but only the internal speakers will produce sound.
This problem happened just recently with audio devices that had been working fine with the laptop before. I did not use any
audio devices that I haven't used with the computer before. They are fully plugged in, and I've already tried twisting the head
of the cord to see if it's going bad. The headphones I tried to use work fine with my iPhone.
I've tried opening System Preferences > Sound, to select the device, but it doesn't show up in the device list.
The internal speakers work fine, and continue to work even though the headphones or external speakers are plugged in, and in
the case of the external speakers, turned on.
Does anyone know if updating my audio driver would help?
Has anyone expirienced and resolved this problem or a similar problem?
Does anyone know how I can actually get in touch with someone who works at apple without having to go in to their store, as
I don't have time to do that and wouldn't be able to leave my laptop for repair since I use it for college?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks so much!
    Update:
I've tried using "Audio MIDI Setup", the external devices do not seem to be recognized by the computer.

Because something has gone wrong. I have no way of knowing what, and without backups, you're in a very bad situation.
If you want to preserve the data on the startup drive, and it's not already backed up, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care about the data, you can skip this step.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is not fully functional. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
    1. Start up from the Recovery partition, from Internet Recovery, or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) Launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.” The article refers to starting up from a DVD, but the procedure in Recovery mode is the same. You don't need a DVD if you're running OS X 10.7 or later.
    2. If Method 1 fails because of disk errors, and no other Mac is available, then you may be able to salvage some of your files by copying them in the Finder. If you already have an external drive with OS X installed, start up from it. Otherwise, if you have Internet access, follow the instructions on this page to prepare the external drive and install OS X on it. You'll use the Recovery installer, rather than downloading it from the App Store.
    3. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, start the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
    4. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.

  • MacBook Air no longer connecting to monitor via HDMI after recent update.

    Hi all,
My MacBook air typically has no issues connecting to my external ASUS monitor via Thunderbol-HDMI port. However, after the recent Mavericks OSX update that was pushed a couple days ago, my monitor says that there is no signal. My MacBook air screen flickers slightly once connected (typical behavior, as it begins to mirror the screen on a scaled resolution shortly there after) but then nothing happens.
    How can I fix this?
    Thank you!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Try System Preferences->Energy Saver:Automatic graphics switching (Deselect the checkbox).
If that doesn't work you might try changing the resolution and refresh rate for the monitor in System Preferences->Displays, or downloading an app called SwitchResX (shareware) and lowered the resolution just slightly .
One other solution if possible - restore to time before update from backup.
    Added restore from backup advice

  • ITunes on Macbook Air doesn't recognise external hard drive once ejected

I just bought  MacBook Air less than two weeks ago and I'm loving it and I successfully mapped my iTunes to my music library, which is stored on an external hard drive. Howeve, whenever I eject the external hard drive to use the MacBook Air in a mobile setting and then reconnect it, my iTunes doesnt remap to the library. This never happened on my PC so I was wondering if there was a work-around/solution and if this is a common problem?

Think ive just found the problem.
It seems as though I needed to "unlock" the hard drive by useing the unlock icon in the WD icon on the desktop.
I forgot I had made a password for it and also didnt realise I had to enter the WD software that comes with the hard drive which automatically appears on the desktop when you turn it on or plug it in.

  • HT1338 My macbook air doesn't recognise logitech v20 speakers

I am so sorry i was convinced by others to buy a macbook air - i had an Asus and i am having endless problems with hardware compatibility that no one seems to be able to help me with my new macbook air.  firstly, i now cant connect wirelessly to my networked printer at work - a Dell Color Laser 3110cn and i also cant connect at all to my HP Laserjet 1018 printer (with usb or wireless).  I can also not connect to my Broadband Telstra toggle or to the Logitech V20 speakers.  NO ONE warned me about this when i bought an apple.  I'm so sorry i did!!!

Okay, I have successfully printed a test page frm the printer itself. It did work correctly with my PC and connected to the PC network that I had previously set up, so I'm pretty sure that ther printer itself is good in terms of being able to print and also it's network capabilities. I also double checked the network password that I entered when I connected the printer to the time capsule network and it said that it did set up a connection point correctly. After I did this I tried to print something from the mac again and it simply isn't bringing up the printer details as already there, or when I try to add a new printer.
So now I'm at a brick wall and have no idea how to get through / over / round it. Please help anyone.

  • After installing Lion OSX on Macbook Air, no longer wakes from sleep

Since installing Lion and after update to 10.7.4, Mac book Air no longer wakes from sleep. Have to hold pwr key for a few seconds and restart. Tried resetting SMC and PRAM but no effect.

If there's no change, do as follows.
Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click  Log in.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode. Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.
