My MacBook Air wont turn on. HELP!

My MacBook Air wont turn on, I bought this past September (as a birthday gift for myself) and this Sunday I was using it perfectly, then at night it didn't turn on. I tried several times to turn it on and it did once, I thought "Yes finally" but two minutes later it turned off and never to turn on again. I have taken care of my mac book so much, that I really dont know whats wrong. I bought on I trip I did to the US and I live in Honduras, we don't have an Apple store here not even a Genius bar for me to go and see whats the problem, I thought this machines were for life, like I literally cried so bad because I had to work SO hard to buy this computer and now its just not working.. why? I dont know. If theres any tricks to making this turning back ON please let me know.
Thanks APPLE...

okay, since you are in Honduras, I'll share what my Genius told me when he reset the SMC on my 11 inch mid-2013 Mac Air yesterday.  He took it in back of the Apple store, came back in about five minutes with everything working. I asked him if there was anything I had done to cause the problem, he said no, except it might be better to actually "shutdown" the computer from the Apple pull-down menu when you aren't going to use the machine for more than a couple of hours (e.g., overnight).  If the instructions in Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) - Apple Support didn't work, As for self-repair, he said this is what you would have to do (but he also said, you really don't want to do this yourself): you have to remove the bottom of the Mac Air (under the keyboard), and disconnect the battery. Then, with the battery disconnected, you plug in the power cord attach it to the Air, and then turn on the computer from the keyboard on/off switch while powered only by the power supply. That should reset the SMC.  Then shut down the system from the Apple menu (not the keyboard button/switch), reinstall the battery, replace the bottom/cover, and see if it works.  Just remember that fiddling inside the back of a Mac can be dangerous to the Mac and your warranty!  Good luck

  • My 2012 Macbook Air wont turn on. SMC restart DOESN'T do ANYTHING. Is there anything else I can try?

So my 2012 Macbook Air was working just fine until the next morning I open it up and nothing happens: the apple logo doesnt light up, screen doesnt turn on, no boot up noise...nothing. Tried pressing and holding the power buttton multiple times...nada. Tried doing an SMC restart multiple times (and trust me I did it correctly)...no dice. Sooo I was wondering if there was anything else I could try and if you guys had some hypothesis on why this happened. Otherwise I'll just take it to the apple store (but id rather avoid the drive and time out of my day). Thanks!!

On a total black out with no SMC allowance, there is nothing to diagnose, no.
Contact Apple for in shop full diagnosis and likely repair.

  • My macbook air wont boot up past the loading screen. UPDATE

My 2008 macbook air will turn on, and then go to the apple screen with the loading wheel, but after a few minutes of loading it just shuts down...
Here is an update of the problem after i messed around with it for a bit.
I start up the macbook while holding Command+s
Then it brings up the prompt.
    I then type: /sbin/fsck -fy
It then outputs a message saying:
    disk0s2: I/0 error.
    Invalid sibling link
    (4, 42746)
**The volume macintosh HD could not be repaired.
/dev/rdisk0s2 (hfs) EXITED WITH SIGNAL 8
After that, i type in: /sbin/mount -uw /
    Then I type: exit
It runs the logout scripts and then immedietly boots up fine, like the computer has no problem.
It works fine like this, but i dont want to have to do those steps every time I want to use my macbook...
Any help on how to fix this?

I have a similar problem. Not sure you're on here (since the post is really old) but did you manage to work it out? How?
    My thread:

My Imac froze earlier today as I was dragging an image from safari into indesig and when it froze the weirdest pattern overlaid the screen. It looked just like the opacity pattern from photoshop with grey and white squares. I turned the computer off using the power button and unplugged everything.
Now when I try to start it these weird lines appear on my start up screen (see link)...
    http://meijerladdaruppgrejer.wordpress.com/2012/07/24/oops/
as you can see the apple and the wheel appears as normal...
... then it moves to a normal looking white screen (perhaps a bit greener than usual) and around 30 seconds later freezes at the blue screen.
    I've tried the cmd + alt + p + r several times but it won't help.
If i press alt during start up I can see and choose my hard drive but just end up at the blue screen again.
Can I try starting it up in safe mode or something?

  • HT1338 my macbook air continuously turns itself off and on again for no apparent reason- despite having full battery... What is wrong with it?

As of recently my macbook air continuously turns on and off.
Sometimes it does not turn on at all.  When it does turn on, after a few minutes it comes up with the shut down options and unless I press cancel it turns off.  Occasionally when turning on it only gets as far as the startup sound then turns off again- occasionally in a continuous loop.
    Any ideas?
    HELP!

I think you might get a new phone instead of repairing it as it takes time and you said the repairing center is far from your living place

    1. Press the F2 key couple of times.
    2. Reset PRAM.  http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4405
    3. Reset SMC.     http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
        Choose the method for:
"Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".
If this does not help, contact Apple.
    Best.

  • My macbook air wont boot up. Just beeps every 5 seconds and a white light flashes on front of keyboard

My macbook air wont boot up. Just beeps every 5 seconds and a white light flashes on front of keyboard

That normally indicates an issue with system memory. The startup sequence can't complete the boot due to a memory issue. Take it in for service.

  • My (UK bought) MacBook Air wont open open Chilean (.cl) websites - anyone any idea why?

My (UK bought) MacBook Air wont open open Chilean (.cl) websites - anyone know why? Or what I can do to change this?

Go to the main Library folder and look for a folder called Application Support / Microsoft.
There are a few folders in there, and you may have to do some digging. In one of them (mine is called MAU2.0), there should be a file called Microsoft Autoupdate. Open it.
    It looks like this:
check the button for manual updates.
That should let you open the apps without triggering an automatic update.

My Macbook Air broke. Please help me, Russian Apple Customer Support don't want help me. I'm in despair.
Hi, I bought my MacBook Air  in your store. In the summer of 2012. My mac is included in the program MacBook Air Flash Storage Drive Replacement Program. I live in Russia. I called the Russian support Apple. They told me to bring mac to an authorized service center. An authorized service center I was told to wait 45 days of the new flash storage drive. It's very long for me. I can `t wait long. I work on a Mac. I do not have another computer. Russian support Аpple does not want to help me. Can you help me? Serial number my MacBook Air : c0*******rvc

Leaving you without a computer for 45 days isn't acceptable. Call Apple and ask for a loaner or replacement. Some people have been receiving them.
If you still have no luck, then consider getting a USB 3.0 HDD and installing and running OS X on it until the replacement part is in.

  • MacBook Air not turn on, after hard disk eject, without guarantee

Hello i have two macbook air not turning on,
after ejecting external hard disk, when macbook air is sleeping.
External hardisk ( 2.5 sata) have one ending of USB Type mini-B
and two endings of cable (one for data, other for power), of USB Type A
    After next sequence,
-insert one tail of usb cable into macbook air, the second usb cable into 5v adapter (like iPhone usb adapter)
-after some time macbook air going to sleep
-without waking macbook air, pull out the cable what connected into macbook air
MacBook Air will not turning on.
    even after this instructions
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1367
In nearest AppleStore they say that there is a problem with logic part of notebook,
And the minimal price of repair will be cost half price of macbook air.
In other words, they say what they will not searching the problem of this,
they only will replace mother board.
Would you suggest other solutions ?
May be somebody else have this problem ?

OK. I wasn't quite sure. So, the first thing to try is Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM followed by Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC). If neither can be effected then take it in for service as there has been a serious hardware failure.

hey guys. my macbook air wont get past the screen with the apple on it during start up. how do i fix this? i have a paper saved on my laptop on need to get at it. thanks guy!

Your boot drive is damaged in some way. If you have an original installation disc, you can boot from that and run Disk Utility. From DU you can select your internal hard drive ("Macintosh HD" is the name Apple puts on it - you may have renamed yours) and select "Verify Disk". If errors come up, try "Repair Disk". If it repairs, then you should be able to restart and boot from it. If it doesn't show up or won't repair, your drive is probably hosed.
