My macbook became slowly when only with battery. Why? What i do?

My macbook is slow when i turn off the charger. It is only good and fast, when i turn on the charger. Why? And what i do?

Hello,
It would be helpful if you would mention your model of your MacBook. Try these steps:
1. Check the battery cycles you have done in your battery. And check the battery cycle apple has said your MacBook could do. This article will help Mac notebooks: Determining battery cycle count - Apple Support. If it has exceeded that limit you might need to replace your battery.
2. There could be some kind of panic (error) in your OS X. Try reinstalling.
3. Your processor this not getting enough power. This could be because of your battery.
4. Restart your MacBook and run a system diagnostic and check what error code they show.  And relate it to this Apple Diagnostics: Reference codes - Apple Support.

  • Macbook Pro crashes when running on battery

    Hi.
My Macbook Pro crashes when running in battery. It seems it doesn't happen when connected to the power.
Is there any way to know if it's a battery malfunction?
Because Apple changed the motherboard a month ago or so because Nvidia broke. So it could be also the connector to the battery?
Is there any tests I can run?
    Thanks

I would take it back to Apple and have them check it. You may have got a replacement logic board with a problem. Apple usually use rebuilt ones.

  • InDesign CC is performing poorly, slowly when working with text.

InDesign CC is performing poorly, slowly when working with text. I tried updating and it seems like everything installed except for Extension Manager 6.0.7 which failed to instal. Any fix for this?

Thanks, I think the problem is solved. Previously, the CC Extension Manager failed to install when I did an update via the InDesign Help menu. InDesign CC updated successfully, however, InDesign was still acting wonky. Since downloading a new full CC Extension Manager a little while ago, InDesign seems to be working better. Is there a correlation between the two apps for future reference?

  • My macbook works normally connected to the charger, but it is very slow when using the battery. What can I do?

I have a Macbook Pro 13'' 2011 OS X 10.9.4, and recently it started giving this problem, which the macbook works well while connected to the charger, but when i use it only with the batery it gets really slow. But in the report system of the macbook says that the battery is operating normally. It has alreary 822 cycles.

    Perform a SMC reset:

If there is no meaningful change, open System Information>Power and post the following from your MBP:

  • MacBook won't stay on with Battery installed

    Hi,
I spilled a little bit of soda on the left side of my MacBook a few days ago. I took the battery out and let it dry for a few days. Now my MacBook won't stay on, it thinks that the battery is empty and just shuts itself down even though it is fully charged. I removed the battery and turned it on while connected with the AC adapter and it seems to be working fine. It only seems to have problems when the battery is inserted. Any suggestions on what I should do?
    Thanks,

  • Installing Tiger on a Macbook Pro that came only with Leopard

    Hi guys,
Any ideas on how to install Tiger onto a Macbook Pro that came preloaded with Leopard, and only has a Leopard disc?
I've got a refurbished Macbook Pro recently. Realised that one of my application doesn't work, Capture One Pro. Visited Phase One's website and they said it only supports 3.9 and above at the time it was released, which makes it 10.4.10.
Systems in the story below: Macbook Pro Core Cuo. Macbook Pro C2D (new set), Mac Pro, iMac Core 2 Duo
    Here's what I've tried
    1. I've an original disk that came with my MBP CD. When I try to boot from that disk on my MBP C2D, it gives me the crash screen -> "please hold the power for secs to restart".
    2. I've tried installing Tiger onto my iMac and did a harddisk clone via Carbon Copy Cloner (CCC) to my MBP CD. Tiger was able to run on my MBP CD fine.
    3. Then I tried using CCC to clone it over to my MBP C2D. It doesn't work. Shows me the crash screen.
    4. I've tried installing Tiger on my Mac Pro. Used CCC to clone over the disk image to MBP C2D. Doesn't work too. Crash screen.
    5. Created disk images of Tiger with Disk Utility on iMac, Mac Pro. Tried to restore using the iMac, Mac Pro disk images of Tiger. Doesn't work. Shows me the crash screen.
    6. Updated Tiger to 10.4.11 on my Mac Pro. Created disk image using Disk Utility. Restored MBP C2D with it. Crash screen on load.
I'm out of ideas and Apple Support won't open until Monday.
It seems that this MBP C2D is set on not installing Tiger, no matter what. Wonder if getting hold of a Tiger retail disc will do the trick?

You can install tiger onto a MacBook Pro up to version 3,1.
Run System Profiler and under hardware:
    Hardware Overview:
    Model Name: MacBook Pro
Model Identifier: MacBookPro4,1 This line is the model number!
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 1
    Total Number Of Cores: 2
    L2 Cache: 3 MB
    Memory: 2 GB
    Bus Speed: 800 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: MBP41.00C1.B00
    SMC Version: 1.27f1
    Serial Number: XXXXXXXXXXX
    Sudden Motion Sensor:
    State: Enabled
I have got tiger installed onto this MacBookPro which is the latest 4,1 model, but you require the latest Tiger disk (which the Apple Genius had in my case), but the volume, brightness and trackpad gestures do not work! Everything else is fine.

  • Firewire port not suplying energy wen runing only with battery

    Hi all,
since today I v noticed that if my MBP is not connected to the power adaptor
will not suply energy any more to the Firewire 400 port (the only one I have ).
This is a problem because I am often working with ext drive on the run...
any idea on why this is happening ?
I v just got back my laptop back from the Apple store were they have replaced the
optical drive and they v told me that firewire port was working fine.( I was suspecting something cauz I v had several hardrive unmounting without any reason).
Now that my laptop came back there is this issue...
    best
    Shiama

Your computer should provide power to the Firewire port when running on battery as long as the computer is not shut down or sleeping, shiama. If it is sleeping or shut down then it will only provide power when the power adaptor is plugged in.
You could try resetting the SMC and PRAM . Perhaps try another FW cable to make sure that this is not the cause of your problems, though I presume, from what you say, that power is supplied to the FW drive normally if the power adaptor is plugged in.
Some supposedly bus powered FW drives may need more current than the battery alone can support though. What brand and model is the drive? Has it worked off battery alone before? Are any other devices attached, and were you running software that places a heavy demand on the CPU or Graphics processor when the external drive was in use?
    Cheers

  • Wont boot - no chimes, fan noise but only with battery connected

    Hello,
    It's an old Powerbook G4 - A1138 that won't boot.
If you press the power button, the fan whirrs quickly and loudly. But only with the battery connected. If the battery is removed (but the computer is connected to the power supply) then nothing happens...
I have tried re-setting the PMU as per this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1431 This didn't help.
Is it now dead? If I can just reach a point whereby I can boot it in Firewire HD mode (normally holding command + T down) and recover content then great!
    Thanks :-)

  • My macbook vibrates slightly when plugged in. Why? How? Is this bad?

    Help,
So, I plugged in my macbook today and when I rest my hand on it it vibrates slightly like it is holding a charge.
I am very afraid this could be a very bad thing and damage my macbook.
    Has anyone experienced this before?
    Schould I return the macbook?

Ok, I figured the outlets might be grounded badly. If this is the case, could it damage my macbook using it on ungrounded outlets?
If this is a common macbook issue, they should get me a new macbook? I don't think this is meant to happen...
UPDATE: I tried 2 different outlets, with the first one the macbook was still vibrating. I did not move the macbook it was still on thesame place on the table.
With the 2nd one in a other room, the macbook does not vibrate. Though I had to move the macbook on a other surface. I'm don't know if the surface has anything to do with this at all but I'll just mention it.
I guess I just won't be using the macbook on the outlets it vibrates with.
Thank you and sorry for my English

  • M200: Processor works only with 600MHz - Why?

I have observed that when you change pcb set for a laptop irrespective of the processors speed it runs at slowest that is 595/598 MHz.
Have you observed this? What is the reason behind?
    What is the solution?
If the processor is having 256MB/512MB RAM this things wont affect a large but for 1GB & 2GB the machine performance become very problematic.
I have tried updating DMI this didnot helped.
    Re-installing os also didnot helped.
    BIO upgrading also didnot helped.
I'm also not very sure about this problem having any relation to pcbset change.
With the good machine I have found the way is dynamically switching capabilities of a processor from bios.
In few machines that are giving problems i didnot observed this option in BIOS.
    The machines are PortA200 & Port M200(tablet).
can any one help me. I need to justify this to customer.
    Thanks & Regards
    ChaitanyaN

    Hi
This issue occurs after motherboard changing. Usually after mainboard changing it is very important to make any tests and diagnostic procedures. Without this procedure the CPU will work only with fixed 600 MHZ.
You should contact the Toshiba service to solve this CPU issue.

  • HT1752 My MacBook on startup shows file with question mark ,, what now?

My Mac shows file with question mark, what now.

Press the power button down to force a emergency use only hardware shutdown.
Press and hold the Option/alt key on the built in keyboard, boot the machine.
If MacintoshHD appears, select it and click the arrow, then in System Preferences > Startup Disk reset that. Done.
Sometimes a NVRAM reset is required then the above done again.
    Folder with question mark issue
..Step by Step to fix your Mac
If MacintoshHD doesn't appear, or if it boots to gray screen or other issues, then it's more complicated of a fix, but once inside OS X then reset the Startup Disk.
Gray, Blue or White screen at boot, w/spinner/progress bar
..Step by Step to fix your Mac
You might need this if you don't have a recent backup and your problem is software related, Disk Utiltiy can't fix the drive and recommends you backup, erase and install.
.Create a data recovery/undelete external boot drive
If Disk Utility + Hardware Test shows no boot drive, then you have a dead drive or cable, or Mac issue.

  • When working with aRGB images, what changes must be made when printing?

Working in the Adobe RGB color space requires that all components in the chain (camera, software, monitor, printer) be able to handle aRGB. When printing from Photoshop Elements, what changes (if any) need to be made at printing time?

    Thanks Michel.
I knew about the "more options" dialog box and use it regularly to set
ICC profiles for my Canon Pro9500 Mark II printer, ensuring also that
"Photoshop Elements manages colors". I could have asked the question
better perhaps: "When working with aRGB images, how can I set both an
ICC printer profile for a specific paper and ensure that printer uses
the aRGB color space?". As far as I can tell, you can set an aRGB
profile (either in Photoshop or at the level of the printer), but you
can't use both the aRGB profile and an ICC paper profile at the same
time. I am assuming that you can't set an ICC profile for the paper in
Photoshop Elements and at the same time use the printer's aRGB driver.
    Is that right?
    Craig.

  • Lose Airport connection only with battery

I have encountered the following really odd problem on three different Aluminum Powerbooks running Tiger (but no difficulty when the same machines ran Panther):
I connect to an Airport base station (it's one of the graphite base stations,
    802.11b).
When the Powerbooks are plugged into the wall, all is fine.
When the Powerbooks are running off the battery, the internet connection drops every few minutes (not at a regular interval -- can be as little as 20 seconds, can be a few minutes). I can reconnect, and then it drops again.
Details: Exact same machine with Panther has no problem. When the wireless connection fails, the menu bar still shows "four bars" but the computer cannot actually access the internet. Oh yes -- this has been
true under several versions of Tiger.
    Thoughts? Anyone else find this?

Note that channel 6 isn't necessarily the answer, it just happened to work in this case.
What likely happened is that your router originally used a different channel and a neighbor just got a wireless router and is using the same channel, creating interference where there was none before.
"Automatic" is a bit of a misnomer in the configuration settings; what the base station actually does is search for an interfering base station as best it can, but it only does it at boot time.
Thus if your router has been up for months and a neighbor installs a Wi-Fi router, it doesn't "know" about the interfering device.
Sometimes a reboot of the router will cause it to switch channels on its own in automatic mode, sometimes not.

  • My Macbook Pro will not start with battery connected.

I have a Macbook Pro which I purchased in 2011 and recently it would not start. I later disconnected the battery and plugged it in and it now works but only without the battery disconnected. When it would not work and the battery was connected, the battery lights indicated that it was fully charged. Any suggestions?

Was this a used MBP, the 2011 MBPs only have internal batteries.  How did you disconnect the battery?
This behavior sounds like a failure or fault in the batttery circuit and the only way to diagnose that is by taking the MBP to an Apple store genius bar or Apple authorized service center to have the techs run their tests.

  • Macbook pro retina, boots only with 5 gigs of ram free?

I dont know how normal this is, but here goes.
I have the 2.6 retina, 8 gig ram, 512 ssd. For some reason last night my mac got real laggy, so I decided to check out my ram usage. I downloaded this app called memory clean, and I was surprised at the free ram.
Upon a fresh boot I only have like 5.90 gigs of ram free. And once I start browsing, I'll be reduced down to like 3 and it'll get a little sluggish.
I wanted to know if this is considered normal? I reset pram and have the latest updates from the App Store is regard to the OS.

Assuming that you have Mavericks installed as your OSX, memory pressure is the important criteria, not so much the amount.  Mavericks will actually try to use as much as is available.  If you see green, RAM usage is acceptable:
