I updated to iTunes 10.7 and now iTunes does not see my iPod touch.  After the update I got a message that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver could not be installed.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes 3 times, but still cannot fix the problem.  I have followed the suggested fixes in Apple Support.   Any suggestions?  Thanks!

Try the actions here for that driver.

and now I don't get that message anymore when I have itunes open.I tried turning off ipod/computer/restarting, nothing. I tried going

Itunes does not recognize my iPod Touch using Windows 7 - 64bit. Is this a driver issue? Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a fix?
Message was edited by: Mark DiGiacomo

    hi sally,
see if this user tip by Yorkwill helps:
+In the end what works is to just force the drivers on what windows thinks is a camera, i.e. to ‘update’ the device to use the correct driver. There are some hints on how to do this already listed on this forum, but I’ll try to give some more detailed information:+
+1. First off you need to have iTunes installed and the ipod touch plugged in+
+and recognized as ‘something’ e.g. digital camera (it shouldn’t really+
+matter what it’s recognized as, but it needs to be found by windows).+
+2. Search for usbaapl in the C:\WINDOWS system folder:+
+o open windows explorer (e.g. Right-click Start and then click ‘explore’)+
+o right-click the WINDOWS folder and select ‘Search’).+
+o type in usbaapl and hit Search – try to ignore the dog!+
+You should find the driver info in a sub folder of+
    +C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRVSTORE e.g. C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRVSTORE\usbaapl_A65621D65F5B7507DD7B22331826547BDD2D206B+
+Remember that location (either leave the search box open or copy the folder+
    +name into note pad – you’ll need it later)+
    +If you don’t find usbaapl.sys, usbaapl.inf etc. then your drivers have not+
+been installed with the iTunes install and you’ll have to reinstall iTunes.+
    +3. Locate the ipod-camera device:+
+o Open the device manager, e.g. using Start > Control Panel >+
    +Performance and Maintenance > System > Hardware Tab > Device Manager+
+o Look for a device called ‘ipod’ - if your ipod shows up as+
+‘digital camera’ it will be under something like ‘imaging devices’.+
    +4. Update the driver:+
+o Right click the ‘ipod-camera’ in device manager and click on+
+‘Update Driver’ – the Hardware Update Wizard will open.+
+o Check the ‘Install from a list or specific location’ then click ‘Next’+
+o Check ‘Search for the best driver in these locations’. Un-check+
+‘Search removable media’ and check ‘Include this location in the search’.+
+In the text box below type (or better copy and paste) the folder+
+containing the ipod driver information found in step 1 (in the example+
    +above it was C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRVSTORE\usbaapl_A65621D65F5B7507DD7B22331826547BDD2D206B), +
    +then click Next.+
+You should now see something like ‘Apple ipod device driver’ or so. Continue+
+installing that device. Once the driver has been installed the ipod will come+
+to life and iTunes (if you have it open) will show it.+

  • Adding CD music to Itunes - does not sync to ipod touch 5 gen

Windows 7PC. Easy to add the music from a CD to Itunes.
But, then when I sync itunes to Ipod, music does not export to Ipod.
Must be a setting that is not right?
Have to reload them all again?

"Across the top, there is Summary, Apps, MUSIC- Click on Music"
Yes, those are the sync settings that I referred to in my answer.
"Make sure the (check mark) is sync music, click on entire music library"
This option works fine for small music libraries. When it gets bigger, it won't fit on the iPhone. At that point simply switch to more selective syncing.

  • Windows 7 does not recognize my iPod touch 5--doesn't even charge the device. HELP!

My computer at work will not recognize my iPod touch generation 5.  I've had increasing problems and now today when I plug it into the USB port, it will not recognize it.
I've uninstalled all the Apple, iTunes etc. software and reinstalled, I've rebooted the computer 3-4 times.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled the USB driver.
    It will not work.  Ideas?

  • My Windows XP machine does not recognize my iPod Touch

    Hello,
I just bought a second-hand iPod Touch (4-gen, 32GB). My Windows XP laptop is giving no indication that anything is attached to it at all. The "found new hardware" wizard does not open. The little icon that allows you to eject safely before detaching doesn't show up in the tray. No external devices are listed on My Computer.
I've spent a couple of days looking through previous posts in this forum and I did a little troubleshooting. This is what I can tell you so far:
The iPod is working - I can play music on it, use a few apps, etc.
I tried two different USB cables and neither one worked.
The Apple Mobile Device Support DOES appear in my Add/Remove programs list
But the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is NOT in the USB controllers list.
I had iTunes running before I hooked up the USB cable to the iPod.
I tried to look for iTunes updates, but was unable to access the site. (Yes, I was connected to the Internet - following directions on this site. ) I don't remember what version of iTunes I have (I'm not at home right now), but it's not the latest.
Until a couple of weeks ago, I had an iPod classic 5-gen that I was able to sync with iTunes, no problem. It's only the iPod touch that doesn't work.
Most users who ask about this problem do seem to get some recognition on their computer that there is some sort of device attached. They seem to have more issues with iTunes. So most similar questions direct to the "iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows" article. This article seems to assume that the computer has responded in some way to the iPod, even if incorrectly - but mine doesn't respond at all.
Can someone recommend a troubleshooting article that addresses the more basic problem of Windows not recognizing the iPod?
    Thank you,
    Joyce

I did a restore. Not from backup, though, as I had not done a backup prior to the restore. However, in the process of the restore, it asked if I wanted to back up and I said yes.
The restore concluded, and then it asked if I wanted to put the backed-up stuff back on the iPod, and I said yes.
Then I did the sync. It seemed to be working. It went through 3 steps and stayed on step 3 for a while. Then it ended, and there was nothing on the iPod. The "Music" button opens a screen that says "no content."
Then I did a sync test from Help->Diagnostics. This is what was displayed on the command window:
    Performing Sync Diagnostics for iTunes
    reporting PE file versions
    reporting time zones
    Enabling Sync Logging
    Starting Sync
2013-03-13 02:59:11.896 syncli.exe[3188:e6c] setting one shot sync group for client con.apple.MobileSync.6f93c87e3101b680446936d817872280c801eb54

    Waiting for Sync to finish
    ...Disabling Sync Logging
The test ended "successfully" (with a green light, etc).
Don't you think that "no registered client con.apple.MobileSync.blahblahblah..." is significant? Seems like it was unable to do the sync because some program or process or whatever was missing.
So, still not synching. Is there anything else I can try? Thanks...

iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    - I would start with
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

  • Home button does not wake up iPod Touch

    Hey all,
After the iPod screen turns off automatically after the preset idle time, pressing the "Home" button does not wake the device up from the first press; on some occasions it has to be pressed twice before the "Slide to unlock" screen appears.
This is intermittent and I can't pin down how to accurately reproduce the issue, but it seems to happen randomly. I have never experienced an issue where the "Home" button didn't work when pressed during normal operation, so I don't think it is a hardware issue with the button itself. Note that I had this issue before updating the device to 3.1.2 as well.
I have auto-lock set to 3 minutes, with Passcode Lock on.
The device is the 32GB model MC008C, updated with the latest 3.1.2 (7D11) OS.
    Cheers

sorry to reply and intrude here but i cannot for the love of god find he new thread button. (maybe a mod will move me please)
I recently restored my iPod touch and i didn't really watch the restore. I know the loading bar on ipod was nearly at end. Anyways, 10-15mins later i go to use my ipod and clicking the home button nothing displays.
I then try to turn on, yet nothing. So googling, i left the battery to completely drain if there is any.
I plug my ipod into my computer and nopthing happens, it does not wake up(turn on) or even charge. I have tried an Iphone wall charger, yet no response from my ipod touch as well.
So i kept googling and i found out about some DFU mode, there was lots of different combinations on the web, i tried them all, yet my ipod does not respon. No noises, notifications or anything in itunes(if itunes closed, does not open up!)
It has now been a good few days since it stopped working, and i cannot think is there anymore to do. It is still in warranty for a few months.
Only problem is, i do not think i;m entitled to phone support, and the nearest genius for me is hours away.
PS: my iPod touch was restored to version 3.2 (latest version if thats wrong <!-- )
    I have itunes 9.1
    Running windows 7 rc
I have tried my ipod also on the following:
My dual boot vista, another computer with vista and a Mac Pro.
Can anyone suggest anything or help me please?
    Thanks in advance,
    Malcom

    Hi,

Have you also gone through the link that I provided in my above post and followed the steps as mentioned in that Apple Support kb ?
Aslo if you have a different Apple Usb Sync Cable for your iPod then try connecting with that to a different Usb port on your Mac and see if that works, but also once go through the above Apple Support kb. And if possible then try to connect your iPod to a different Computer and check if its detecting there, but before you connect your iPod to a different computer make sure you disable Auto Sync feature on that Computer and to do that open iTunes on the other computer> click on iTunes in the Menu bar (for Mac) or go to Edit (on windows)> Preferences> Devices Tab> and check the option next to Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing Automatically.
