My MacBook does not want to update SW.

When starting iTunes a "Software Update" was offered.  I started to run it and almost immediately got an "Installation Alert" message that iTunes application needed to be closed to continue installation.  I closed iTunes and the "Software Update" continued - but slowly.  After about 10 hours the Software Update is still "runnning package scripts".   Also after closing iTunes the "Installation Alert" window was still presnt without any way to close it except "quit installer".  This has happened 2 times now.  What gives?

Have you rebooted your system and tried Software Update again, before loading iTunes?
If you need to update, the just released iTunes 10.6 release can be downloaded from  http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1426 .

  • Macbook Air does not want to update to Yosemite 10.10.3

My Macbook Air is running on Yosemite 10.10.2 and I want to update it to the current version of 10.10.3.  However, I cannot do that as it is not letting me update anything.  When I click on the update tab in the app store, in the left hand corner, it keeps "Checking for updates" and will not allow me to update anything.  I can click on the tab to update but nothing will happen.  I also need to update my iTunes and it is not allowing me to do so.  This is HIGHLY annoying and I have high speed internet so I know it isn't that.  Is anyone else having this problem?  Please help!

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then take the action that isn't working the way you expect. Select any lines that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
Some private information, such as your name or email address, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
When you post the log extract, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "The message contains invalid characters." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the text on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

  • My iMac does not want to update

everytime i want to update my mac and other apps. it would restart but it wont install

It's likely re-prompting you to install certain updates because you haven't told it to ignore them.
By default, Software Update will inform you of any available updates. If you choose to not install them, they'll just reappear the next time you run Software Update.
However, you can tell Software Update to ignore specific updates. This removes them from the list of pending/available updates and it won't re-prompt you to install them again.
Just select the updates in the list and choose 'Ignore Update...' from the Update menu.

  • My Nokia 5800 xpressmusic does not want to update

    Hey all
When I type in *#0000# it shows my that my phones software is 40.0.005 and the software date is 29-12-2009. So when I go to options and say check update, it asks my do I want to connect? and it will cost normal data call costs. So I say yes like always, but now it says Connection error. so then I go back to options and click sever profiles. I find that there is no info at all. So does anyone know the server settings for Vodacom SA?
    Thanks

    @cruzer244
If you would like to post the seven digit product code upon label under battery starting with "0" could tell you which is the latest firmware version available for your device. Presumably you have already tried connecting with Nokia Suite installed upon PC?

  • My macbook does not want to accept any cd/dvd into my superdrive... any help?

Hi, please I have a problem with my superdrive on my MacBook. It doesn't accept any disc. I just put it in, then hrrrrr and the disc is pulled out. Does anyone here has a same problem? Do you have a solution, how to solve this problem?
    Filip

According to apple, what is happening means that the disk isn't getting inserted all of the way.

    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mountain Lion to Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8, Lion, or Mountain Lion installed. Purchase and download Mavericks (Free) from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
         OS X Mavericks- System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mavericks
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
                 Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
    Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table — RoaringApps.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

  • How do i remove an Update notification? I do not want to update to the latest iOS (Asian languages) which is useless to me and I don't want to waste space on my iPad. I want to be able to "Select All" instead of doing each update individually.

That's quite a title I created!  Sorry, I've never submitted a question before! ☺ I do not want to update to the latest iOS (Asian language stuff) which is useless to me and I don't want to waste space on my iPhone 4S and iPad 5. I want to be able to "Select All" updates instead of doing each update individually. It's a real pain in the you-know-what. Does anyone know how to I remove this notification (and any other updates I'm not interested in) from the Updates page? Thanks so much everyone!

Thanks so much for your time!  I wish you had a more positive answer, but c'est la vie!  I hate the fact that I cannot control my apps and feel like a hostage of the developer(s). I've read other forums and some responses were "then delete the app!"  Lame answer!  So thank you so much for your respectful and insightful reply!  Cheers.

  • My phone does not want to come on pass the 'connect to itunes' logo.   I have a iphone 3Gs. It happened after I tried to restore it after updating it through itunes on my computer.

My phone does not want to come on pass the 'connect to itunes' logo on the screen.  This happened after I was updating the phone software through itunes, and itunes said I needed to restore my phone if it is to work with itunes, which I did.  An error (1015) box popped up and... well.... here we are.  I have an iphone 3G.  The support coverage is expired.
I just want to return to my phone functioning as before.

    Was this iPhone jailbroken?

The update to iOS 5.0 & higher is an erase/restore deal, so make sure you follow the directions here to update your phone:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4972
    iOS 7.0.4 will be installed.

  • Trying to update my Itunes software, now it does not want to work at all, givin strange error messages.

Trying to update my Itunes software, now it does not want to work at all, givin strange error messages.
First, when trying to sync ipod touch to Itunes, nothing happened. After that, Itunes suggested downloading and installing updates but now updates will not finish installation correctly and launch error messages. Any ideas?
    TKS !

These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up en passant.
Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. If updates install, stock up on the ones you're behind on, restarting the PC if requested to do so. After the restart, try installing iTunes again. Does it go through this time for you?
If windows updates fail to install, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? Are they also 800736B3s, or a different error code? If they're different, what codes are you getting in Windows Update?
