  • Trying to update firmware on my canon printer MG5320 but in doesn't recognize the printer being plugged in via USB cable

I am trying to update firmware on my canon printer MG5320 to be able to use the airprint feature but in doesn't recognize the printer being plugged in via USB cable. I have tried restarting the macbook, turning on and off the printer, repairing permissions, deleting and redownloading the update what else can I do? The prinyrt works fine otherwise...

If there are no drivers for Yosemite you might be in trouble.. HP will tend not to support printers once they are EOL.
Getting it running over wireless rather than USB might be worthwhile.
Can’t connect wirelessly HP Photosmart C4780 to MacBook Pro OSX 10.8.2 Mountain Lion.
Has the printer been working and now failed after update.. what update caused the failure if that is the problem??

  • Computer doesn't recognize my printer since upgrade

my computer doesn't recognize my printer since upgrade to yosemite

    Hi ..
Try a reset >  Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system
If a reset doesn't help, visit the website for your printer manufacture then search for v10.10 Yosemite drivers to download and install.

Have you tried in different locations, does this happen everywhere. Have you tried a hard restart.

  • Satellite A505 Doesn't Recognize HP Printer

My Satellite A505 laptop doesn't recognize my HP Color LaserJet 2550L printer, when I connect them with a USB line.  I tried going to the HP site to download the drive for the 2550L, but that site said Windows 7 already had it! Suggestions?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Did not work.  I tried installing the printer and driver using the add printer function (per the video), and, while I got a message that said the printer had successfully installed, neither the test page, nor a second, 1-page Word document, would print --  even though the printer is on, with paper loaded, no jams, and a green light, the USB cable is in tight (printer and laptop), but I get a printer job status of "Error" whenever a job enters the print queue.
Same thing happened when I tried to load the driver from the original disk that came with the printer (I suspect the original driver isn't ready for Windows 7, but I have Windows 7 set to "automatic update", so I'm expecting it to go onto the internet and find the newest version of my driver, one that IS compatible -- that's the whole point of the auto update function).  Another issue I encountered, when I tried to load the driver manually, from the original disk, was it came back with a pop-up window that advised loading the driver with the "Printer Wizard", so I know that had to be a pre-Windows 7 disk.
FYI -- I had this same problem trying to use an old Brother Laserprinter at home -- the USB wouldn't recognize the printer.  Loaded it via Windows, but got printer error message on any document I tried to print.
This should be so simple! Plug 'n Play, via USB.  Maddening!

  • PSE 9 doesn't recognize my printer

I have PSE 9 and Windows 7.  I printed several photos today and all of a sudden the program tells me I have to install the printer.  When I look at devices and printers, they are all showing up.  I printed a test page, and the test page works.  It's only one printer that it doesn't recognize this time, although it did earlier in the day.
I read an earlier question with this problem, but I didn't see any solution. I tried the Ctrl/Alt/Shift idea to get rid of the preference settings, but that didn't help and I tried rebooting the computer.  I tried changing different settings and then changing them back like one person suggested. Nothing has worked.
This happened to me one day about a year ago and I found a way to fix it either here or somewhere on the internet, but now that it's happened again, I can't find an answer.  I've been using PSE for many years and never had a problem with the printer until I got PSE 9.  Surely, someone has come up with a fix for this problem.
    Thanks.
    Anna

I decided to delete my printer from the computer and just added it again. That seemed to do the trick.

  • Macbook doesn't recognize external display

I am trying to use my tv as an external display. My Intel Macbook doesn't detect my tv as an external display, this is because I am using an unconventional connector (VGA to RCA connector).
Anyways, I am wondering if there is a way to force my laptop to output video over the mini-DVI out port on my computer. I am thinking a utility or something would be able to do it.
    This is my setup:
    mini-DVI out from computer>
mini-DVI to VGA cable from apple>
VGA to RCA(yellow video cable) (from hong-kong)>
AV in of TV (RCA yellow video cable)
I realize that the VGA to RCA makes my computer not detect my tv, I am looking for a work-around.
    Macbook 2.0GHz (White)   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

You just need the Apple mini-DVI to video adapter. It has both a composite and s-video output.

  • Mini Doesn't Recognize Epson Printer via Firewire

    this is an odd one...
spent quite some time on tech support with Apple today.
a brand new Mac Mini will not print with an Epson photo stylus via firewire.
it recognizes the firewire connection, actually prints via usb, but will not print with the firewire.
what is even stranger, the epson printer utility will allow for printing test pages via firewire.
no matter how often the new Epson drivers (via website) are removed, reinstalled correctly, reset print system in printer set up utility, with permissions repaired, restarting, etc., it will not recognize the printer.
tried this with two working Epsons, which both work on an older iMAC, and a new G5.
firewire works with other items, like storage drives etc., and tried different cords.
    i am stumped.
    any clues?
mac mini Mac OS X (10.4.10)

When you add the printer, are you highlighting the printer in Printer Setup Utility, clicking *More Printers* and selecting *EPSON Firewire* in the Print Browser?

  • Doesn't Recognize The Printer!

I've got Canon Pixma MP250 printer today, and downloaded drivers for Snow Leopard from Canon website, but later found out that the CD supplied with the printer support installation for OS x 10.6. When I finished installation I plugged the printer into USB port on Mac Book Pro, went to the System Preferences , clicked Add in the Printers pop up, but in the menu it simply doesn't shows up. The printer I mean! There is nothing to add, It is blank.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Help please!
    Thanks!

Have you tried a different USB port on the computer?
Are you using a "bus-powered" hub (does not have an independent power supply)? Those are often the cause of connection failures, as they fail to provide enough power for proper communication. Often, switching to a "self-powered" hub (has its own power brick) will fix printing issues.

  • My New MacBook doesn´t recognize my external modem

I just got the new MacBook. My home internet connection is through an external modem that uses a USB cable. When I opened Network Preferences, and it does not give me an option to add an external modem. I was able to install the driver in the new MacBook, but it does not recognize the external modem. I need help figuring out how to get the MacBook to recognize this modem.

I have a Mac Pro and had trouble sending faxes. Apple's help topic for modems that don't connect automatically gives a list of things to try. They should add "Arrange to have a Fax sent to your Mac and try to receive it" That worked for me.

  • Macbook doesn't recognize Fitbit dongle

I've lost two Fitbits Ultras that attach to your waist. I've gone back to the Flex. I'm trying to switch hardware and reinstall my Flex, however, the dongle is not being recognized. Any suggestions?

The Fitbit dongle doesn't use the Bluetooth provided by OS X; it uses its own Bluetooth, for some reason.
I'm having the same problem. It was wiring fine on my Mac mini, but I got a new Mac Pro a week ago, and, even though System Information shows that the dongle is connected, the Fitbit software isn't recognizing it. I'm surprised that I don't see too many people with this problem, and I'm at a loss to figure out what's going on. Fitbit sent me a replacement dongle, but I still have the same problem.
I'm wondering if there's something going on with sandboxing that might not have affected my Mac mini, because I had upgraded OS X using the Migration Assistant. With the Mac Pro, I did a clean install.
I'm getting these messages in Console:

  • Trying to print from my i pod to airport utility with a printer attached, it doesn't recognize a printer saying airprint settings not detected

I'm trying to print from I pod but it say no airprint service is available. I have a kodak 5250 hooked up to my airport extreme utility. Help

Unfortunately, the Kodak 5250 is not an AirPrint compatible printer.
Try installing an App like Print Central on the iPod to see if that might allow printing.

  • My Macbook doesn't recognize cd's. How can I fix this? HELP

Whenever I try to load/import/listen to a disk, my Macbook spins it around and spits it back out. Now, in System preferences, under CD's & DVD's, I can no longer choose iTunes under "When you insert a music cd." It immediately switches to the "Ignore" choice, even though I don't click on it. I just updated iTunes and it didn't do better or worse. Dvd's work completely fine, but cd's are a struggle to do anything. Is is my computer, or the software? PLEASE HELP. NEW MUSIC FOR CHRISTMAS AND I CAN'T LISTEN TO IT.

@mbrubeck: Strange I replied to your answer just 30 minutes after your post but magicaly it is disappeared. Here is my answer again:
I only tried firefox and the preinstalled browser on my phone none of them supports kurdish. Also no other program supports kurdish. Is it something that only firefox ore google have to fix or can i fix it myself. I have a little bit experience programming in java and c and also have programmed for Android, but never done anything about fonts and language packages.
    Thanks again.
