My Macbook doesn't want 2 turn on anymore

2 months ago I bought a brand new macbook pro. Last saturday I turned my macbook on and typed my password and suddenly it turns off. So I thought that maybe it was the battery, but when i put the charger in my macbook, the light on the charger started 2 flash orange and green.
I thought I will let it charge for over an hour, but my macbook still doesn't want to turn on.
Someone know whats wrong? Or dit someone ever had this problem too?

Never heard of the plug-light flashing orange and green, but it sounds like an overheat and a fried battery to me. If it won't turn on then you will need to have it looked at by an Apple Tech regardless. Sorry for your inconvenience.

    Zabanya,
One thing often tried first is to create a new document and File>Place the (PDF contents, if any, of the) corrupted one to see how much may be rescued that way.
Here are some websites where you can see whether it can rescue the actual file, and if it can, you may pay for a subscription to have it done,

  • MacBook doesn't want to turn off or logout...

I have had my macbook for a few months now (since August) and every since I've updated to Leopard my macbook sometimes doesn't want to turn off or logout. When this happens a message pops up telling me that the finder was not able to close and that I should try force quitting it. But when I force quit it nothing really happens. The bar on top of the screen and icons on the desk top go away and never reappear and when I try the power button nothing happens and I am forced to unplug and take out the battery. If anyone could help me with this issue between now and tomorrow, I would be highly appreciative.

    Hi naroke!
When there are Finder related issues, often times the best (and easiest) fix is to re-install the operating system from the OS X 10.5 discs. You can try a few things before going to that point, though, so try these and it might fix the issue.
    1. Reset PRAM (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=2238)
    2. Disk Utility / Repair Disk (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25751 / http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=DiskUtility/10.5/en/duh17.html)
The next option, might make sense to do an archive & install of the operating system.

  • Firefox 3 Backup doesn't want to import anymore! .file

I have exported bookmarks using Backup in Firefox 3.6
Then I have reinstalled my OS and formatted everything. Now when I downloaded latest Firefox it doesn't want to import my Backup anymore. (Firefox backup.file) I am pissed off because I have over 80 websites stored in there. And this is going to mess up everything. I can open it in notepad and see the way it is saved, why the hell doesn't Firefox import it itself? I need this fixed soon so I can import all my bookmarks.

*Firefox has an export to html option for '''''exporting''''' bookmarks (to a .html file, named ''some_name_you_gave''.html)
*Firefox has a Bookmark backup option for '''''backing-up''''' bookmarks (to a .json file, named similar to ''bookmarks-2011-07-27.json'' but with the date of the backup)
Where did you get the file '''''backup.file'''''. That is not a file name/extension that will be recognized by Firefox. If you used ''Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import and Backup > Backup'', it should be a .json file and would be dated similar to the one in the second bullet above and would be in your profile folder, in a folder named ''bookmarkbackups''

  • Macbook doesn't want to recognize the cd rom

We bought my daughter a macbook before she left for college in September. It has the intel core2duo, 2.16 ghz, and 2 gig of memory. For some reason when she pops in a disk, the macbook doesn't recognize it and doesn't do anything. You can hear it is doing something inside, but not what it usually does when it does recognize the cd ....... and even today, sometimes it will recognize it, sometimes it will not.
    Any suggestions????

I will have to check and see if there is one near her at school. We had to take her back as she is on her college basketball team. I did tell her we may need to have it repaired over her Christmas break, although she will be at school then too! Can you imagine the look she gave me?????
I am really glad I bought the Apple Care!!!
Thank you for everything. It is so good to know that all of you are checking these forums! You have an incredible amount of knowledge!!!!

  • Safari has decided it doesn't want to work anymore...

Safari was working just fine on my MacBook Pro 13" (10.7.2) a few days ago, until it decided it would not load anymore pages.  The load bar stops a few cm in and stays there... also, when I open up Safari it freezes and presents me with the spinning wheel of death for a few minutes, then I get about 20 seconds of browsing time before it stops.  Not freezing like its about to crash, but just stops loading web content.  I definitely have good internet connection as I am typing this through a remote desktop connection via my university department.
This is a fairly common occurence, in the past I would either
    reset Safari
    empty cache
    Restart
However now it just won't go away and the consistency of the described behaviour makes me think it won't.   I have seen a several threads about this online, I have tried everything suggested including trying to delete various files in Library/Cache which of course aren't there on my computer (yes I looked everywhere).
Is there anything drastic I can do other than make offerings to Jobs departed soul, bless him?  My thesis deadline is in under two weeks and not having internet is very stressing!  I would download Chrome or Firefox, but obviously i can't.
I have also had separate issues with Office 2011 playing up in various ways, even causing me to lose half of my thesis at point, backups and all.  I'm starting to wonder why I spent a grand on a peice of hardware that is causing me to go grey with stress in my twenties.  I've been to the genius bar several times, they make an effort, but usually are useless.  In the end I had to remove and reinstall Office, but still I get problems... sigh.  Will there ever be an age of truly consumer friendly computers for code illterate numnuts like me?..
Any insightful hints from you technolords would be much appreciated

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. First, disconnect all wired peripherals except keyboard, mouse, and monitor, if applicable, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including your login items.
Launch the application(s) and test. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)

  • My blackberry doesn't want to function anymore..

Hey Everyone. Thank you in advance for any info & advice!
The deal is, I have a secondhand BB 8900 which currently refuses to do anything remotely useful. I'm unable to make/ receive calls, send messages, e-mails or browse the internet etc.
Prior to today, it has been turned off for around a month due to having no charger for it and have had it for little over this time, I was testing it for a few days before the battery running dry with a standard pay & go sim from vodafone and worked perfectly.
Since I have charged the phone & powered it up again today, it has refused to do any of it's main functions such as calls/ e-mails etc.. I am using the same sim as before. I get a 'call failed' message instantly when I try to make calls, my text messages don't send & I cannot connect to the internet although I am clearly connected to my wireless router at home.
I have tried numerous things such as battery pulls & completely wiping/ rebooting the handset in order to solve the problem but to no avail. I am well and truly stumped and have run out of ideas on how to solve this..
Does anyone have any idea what this could be, what could have caused it, how to solve it etc?
    Thanks again for any info!!

So now, the browser works, but the voice phone still does not?
Your browser is likely working only as a WiFi browser.
I don't understand the voice part working earlier on the SIM, and not now, but it is possible for the WiFi browser to work even with the SIM being bad or even removed completely from the device.

  • My iPhone 5 was lost in the snow, then found and it doesn't even turn on anymore after it worked for 5 days??

I lost my phone a few days ago when it fell out of my bag but then someone found it in the snow. Not sure how wet it was when the person found it but my phone worked fine for 5 days after. When I plugged my phone in to charge over night, I woke up with it completely shut off and I can't even turn it on. Not sure if this is a water damage issue due to the phone being lost in snow or if something else could be the case. Its just strange that it worked perfectly fine for the past 5 days and now I can't even turn it on.
    Any insight would be helpful!
    thanks

It probably had moisture inside, and as you used it you caused the moisture to short out critical components.  You can take your iPhone to an Apple Store for diagnostics, but if the moisture indicators are tripped (and they probably are) it would need to be an out of warranty repair, or if you have it, one for the $79 Apple Care+ "incidents".  If you have to pay the full price for an out of warranty repair, that will run you much closer to $269 USD.

  • Macbook Pro won't turn on anymore (no sound, no power etc.)

I have a Macbook Pro I purchased in February of 2008. Earlier this evening I was working on it, plugged in, and put it aside with the screen open. I woke it up from it's sleep mode, did a little work, then closed it and put it on the side again. A few hours later I opened it and it wouldn't wake up. I tried pressing the power button and nothing would happen.
The light on the front is not on/blinking. When I plug in the power it shows that the battery is fully charged. The battery itself says it's fully charged too (with the battery indicator button). I tried removing the battery and putting it back in but no luck.
When I press the power button it sounds as if the computer is going to start up (you hear that sound you hear when it would wake up from sleep or startup). But before anything happens it goes back to being dead. Basically as if the battery is completely drained.
From googling it seems as if it may be the logic board am I correct?? If so is my HD still fine in that case? All my stuff is on it and ofcourse not backed up, besides that I have all my email and such on there too ofcourse.
One more thing, I have a small crack in the bezel of the screen on the lower left bottom. Is there any way that may be related?? The crack has been there for a few weeks and the computer has continued to function completely normal. I've made sure there's been minimal pressure on the crack by putting a clip on it to keep the screen in it's place.
    thanks in advance

This is with the power adapter connected?

    Certainly could be.

    Should be.

I'm guessing the answer to that is yes. How did it get there?
I've made sure there's been minimal pressure on the crack by putting a clip on it to keep the screen in it's place.
    Try removing the clip.
You can try FireWire Target Disk Mode for transferring files, or remove the HD and install it in an external enclosure for 2.5" SATA HD.

  • Mail doesn't want to start anymore

Mail doesn't start. I just get the colourful ball spinning. I have to force it to close down everytime. I've tried to re-install Mavericks, but the problem remains.
    What should I do?

These fixes have helped others, depending on the situation.
Have an up-to-date Time Machine or other backup before attempting any major software updates or rebuilds.

Make sure your software is up to date.  Apple recently released a Mail update.
    Apple > Software Update...
    Try booting in Safe Mode.
Boot and when you hear the bong hold down the Shift key.
It will boot slowly.  Be patient.
              Login the the user account.
              Restart.
    Another fix to try:
    Shut down Mail.
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
    Copy and paste the following
    ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/
    Click Go.
Move all "Envelope" files to your desktop.
Restart Mail and let it convert/reindex your mailboxes.
If this worked, Trash the Envelope files file that are on your desktop,
    if not put them back.
    Another fix:
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
    Copy and paste the following:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail/Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.mail/Cache.db
    Click Go.
Move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Restart your Mac and try Mail.
You can try restoring mail from a Time Machine backup.
Hold down the Option key and in the Finder Go > Library
    Enter Time Machine.
Select a date before the Mavericks upgrade.
    Restore Mail.

I've had the iPod Remote for about three months now, and it recently decided that it doesnt want to work properly. I can adjust volume fine, but pausing and skipping tracks won't work. Any ideas?

I don't think that there's anything you can do with the radio/remote except get it looked at by Apple.
