My macbook fell on the floor

My macbook fell on the floor and i turned on and it went black while active

Leave it powered off, and unplugged from the wall.  Take it to a Genius Bar.
Damage has been done, and this user-to-user forum cannot diagnose it.  Only an expert who is looking at the unit can.
Good luck.

PS: I bought it on the USA, but currently living in Brazil . I guess though there is a apple store in the shopping mall.

Accidental damage is not covered by warranty. As to cost to fix, we can not say as we do not know what internal/external components were damaged. Take the computer to an authorized repair center for assessment and estimate to repair.

  • I dropped my macbook pro on the floor and I wanted to see how much it would cost to get a bent corner on the lid to get fixed.

I recently dropped my macbook pro from the couch and it fell on the floor that was about a foot down. Nothing really major happened except for that the same area where the screen is, on the exterior of that there is a slightly bent corner. I really wanted my macbook pro to look in good condition and I wanted to know if there is any way I can repair this or do I have to replace the whole lid. I would also like to know how much it would cost. Please Help!

Apple Genius Bar will know better, even if you did show us a picture.  We are just users like you.
I would start keeping very regular backups regardless.

    Try here:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
However, you likely have a hardware problem since it started after dropping the iPod.  If the toubleshooting does not solve the peroblem then make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • IPod fell on the floor and now it's beserk.. :(

    Hey all,
I have an iPod Video 60gb.. 3 days ago it fell on the floor and just went crazy from there on..
For instance, I can listen to the songs that are on it, but when I connect it to the computer and I try to access it, it'll ask me if I want to format it or not, so, now, I can't even make backups of my songs, what can I do?
    Really appreciate the help.

The songs should be in iTunes or you should have a backup of them.
You can try a 3rd part app and see if it will get the songs off the iPod.

My iPhone 5 just fell on the floor from a water tumbler. The height mayb like 2 -3 feet. i'm just curious to know if i have to worry about any kind of internal damage. It had a moshi cover on when it fell but it fell on the side of the screen so just worried about the microphone or the front camera. Someone please reply if i should go to Apple and give the phone for a hardware check.

The only choice you have is accept it as it is or pay for a replacement
Any user damage is not covered by the warranty but at any time if you have problems in the future you can obtain an out of warranty exchange unit for $229 in US
I would forget it for now ,just not drop it again

Only an Apple Store or an authorized Apple Service Provider can determine if a repair is economically justifiable. It may be as simple as a dislodged display cable.

my iphone just fell on the floor and wont turn on. what do i do?

    Try resetting it:
Press the Sleep/Wake button & Home button at the same time, keep pressing until you(hopefully) see the Apple logo, then release.
If that doesn't work, it's a trip to an Apple store...take US $199 if you don't have AppleCare plus.

  • Macbook pro over 5 years old phoned up because it fell onto the floor and mad a big bang looked at screen it was cracked and battery looked liked it had exploded i explaind what had happend and was told that it was normal how dangerouse is that no warning

mac book pro 17 over £2000 when new in the middle of the night i heard a loud noise found out that my laptop was on the floor looked and seen screen was craked and that what looked to me the battery had exploded coursing it to fall on to the floor the was nor warning and have had no recal letters from apple warning me that this may happen . so i phoned up apple and was speacking to some one i have thare name but wont say explaind what had happend an he said that it was normal to my shock as if it landed on any one or poss a pet as it was random .he said it was normal more than once and also i was on speaker phone and had some one else listening .i asked for him to send me what he had said via email but he said he could not so he put me through to some one called katalin who said to ignore what he had said . but at this stage i had two isues one that my expensive laptop is damaged .and the second it thta thay admited liyability by saying it was normal
after many emails and phone calls i think there best offer was if i spend about 184 pound thay would give me a £54 discount which as i have just spent over £2200 on new macbook pro was a bit on an insult
i do under stand that batterys do charge but as i had no warning especial if this was going to happen
if as thay said this is normal as it was bourght from apple direct should thay have sent a letter or email as thay would have had my details warning me that this can randomly happen as in my case .
the battery in my opinion has exploded ref defonition and .
my consern is that this could have been alot worse and no warning even thay admited that it is normal
.that sent me a letter basicly say all about my waranty .but how can this be so defently a safty isue regarding my case
i cant just buy new battery because screen craked and dont no any other things wron ref fall fery disapointed with apple but i do not have the money or time to take any further .i and my familey have many apple products and were due for upgrading but hard to think are thay save.as iphones /apads/macbook /macbookpro/and other products very disapointed .dont think i would have been treated this way by dell

Try reinstalling the batteries, maybe they got dislodged. Other than that buy a new mouse, yours is broken.

  • My MacBook fell and the screen lost all luminosity

Hi ! Sorry for my English, but it's not my native tongue.
Anyway, my MacBook was in his bag (a Muji stuff with paddings on both sides) and it fell from my desk. No problem for turning out the computer, everything seemed O.K., except the screen remained black. In fact, it's like there was a black veil in front of my computer desk : I can't see it and anything seems O.K. Is there anything I can do ?
    Thanks a lot
    napi

Hi ! I think you're right. I made a research on Internet and discovered some people withe same problem. In French, I have a problem of "rétroéclairage" and with my "nappe de connexion écran". Thanks a lot !

  • IMac fell on the floor - Windows 7 boots up, Snow Leopard does not

    Hello everyone
My first generation aluminium-intel-mac fell off a small stool I carelessly placed it on. Interestingly, pressing the option-key and booting up windows after turning on the power works just fine. Trying to boot up Snow Leopard however won't get me past the loading screen. Also, there's this odd clicking noise every few seconds.
    I've tried the following:
Starting up in safe mode -> loading screen
    Resetting NVRAM -> loading screen
Booting from the Snow Leopard Install disk -> loading screen
    Help!

That odd clicking sound tells me you damaged your Hard Drive when you dropped it. Take it to an Authorized Apple Service Provider.
