My Macbook gives me 1st degree burn marks

Whenever I'm running games like, Counter Strike, World of Warcraft, Heroes of Newerth (AND GOOGLE CHROME!!) my computer gets overheated to a level where I get blisters on my fingers whenever I touch the back of my computer. SMCfancontrol doesn't matter, it still gets around 85-100*C with my fans running at 5000-6000RPM.
I can't tolerate this. I dont want to get more burnmarks from my macbook. Is there something I can do? Send my computer to the HQ and they will replace it with a new MBP?

I know your pain,
I have gotten a burn from my 13 inch  2011 macbook pro. I had it on a fan cooling pad and was watching a show. I got SmcFancontrol on, and it said the temp was 207F and fan was running full blast i took a screenshot and I touched the back of the computer and burned my finger.
The people on the phone from apple support were helpful and asked me all these questions, and even called back to check on the problem after i took it to the store.
The Apple Store was not the most helpful. I was told by the Genius guy that the high tempereture was nothing to worry about and that the computer will shut down before it gets too hot at around 105C
When i asked them if the temp would affect the life of my computer, the guy told me that the computer would outdated and prolbly need to be replaced in a year or two anyway.
Apple wont replace your computer, they just tell you to buy a new one

  • Burn marks on ipad

My ipad has burn marks which are from the magnetic strip, ive read that it could be rust from the smart cover but there are actual burns on my ipad, my question is will apple replace my ipad with a new one? Or will they just give me a refurb? Hopefully they will give me a new ipad air

Well, you would have to take it to Apple as only they can evaluate the issue and decide if it falls under the warranty or not.
Regardless, no you will not get a new iPad Air.  Whatever replacement you may or may not get, it will be an identical device to what you have now.  And odds are that yes, it will be a refurbished service unit as you do not usually get a new device in exchange for your used device, under warranty replacement or out of warranty replacement.

  • Burn mark on charger

My charger has stopped working. I'm not familiar with the correct terminology. On the power adapter (white square), there is a cord sticking out which you use to connect to your macbook to charge it. Where the cord and the power adapter meet, there seems to be a burn mark and the plastic has holes in it.
I'm not using the charger anymore, for fear of damaging my macbook. I'm going to buy a new one from Best Buy probably. I think I should get the same model, 60W MagSafe.
I assume the burn mark came from over heating. What do you guys do to prevent this from happening?

    Hi Cinday,
You may want to look at this Apple article about what you have experienced. See the If you see a spark section.
    Best of luck.

  • Ipad mini burn mark

II've had my ipad mini for just under a year it still has warranty for about 3 weeks. just recently i was on the internet and this logo just appeared burnt on the screen. When I went on the home it still stayed on. I don't know If I should go to the apple shop or not like I said it just recently happened.

I know this is an old thread, but its one of the first that comes up on google when you search for this.
I can tell you quite certainly that this is not rust.  I have identical damage to my ipad and am quite certain it is a burn mark.  I have worked professionally on various electronics for over 10 years and have seen damage similar to this quite often.  The key to identifying it as a burn over a rust stain is the accompanying damage present in the aluminum.  There is very minor pitting present in the aluminum which you would not see if this was simply a stain.
Also on the smart cover, the magnet is covered in some sort of plastic.  On my damage it is centered on this plastic strip and not near the edge.
I plan on taking my iPad to the Apple store as soon as I return home.  This is not discoloration and it is not rust.  This is a burn mark from either heat or arcing.  It is possible the wifi antenna induces a small amount of current flow in the case and there is some sort of interaction with the magnet which causes it to arc (and ultimately burn) between the case and the magnet of the cover.

  • MacBook gives 2 high-pitched beeps at 7am

Don't have any scheduled events at this time, but the MacBook gives these two high-pitched beeps at around 7am on most (not all) days. Even does it when asleep. The beeps do not appear to be coming from the speakers and they're unlike any system sound, so is there something on the motherboard or in the drives that could do this? Is it a warning of impending failure?

Suspected that but how to diagnose what the problem is? System Profiler reports that the RAM (2 x 1GB Kingston) is OK and Disk Utility 'Verify Disk' returns 'appears to be OK'.

Did the power adapter have adequate air circulation around it?
Power adapters do get warm, and if confined, get hot.
    From the iphone_user_guide iOS 7.1
Prolonged heat exposure iPhone and its power adapter comply with applicable surface temperature standards and limits. However, even within these limits, sustained contact with warm surfaces for long periods of time may cause discomfort or injury. Use common sense to avoid situations where your skin is in contact with a device or its power adapter when it’s operating or plugged into a power source for long periods of time. For example, don’t sleep or place a device or power adapter under a blanket, pillow, or your body when it’s plugged into a power source. It’s important to keep iPhone and its power adapter in a well-ventilated area when using or charging them. Take special care if you have a physical condition that affects your ability to detect heat against the body.
(note this probably applies to any power adapter from any company)

  • Got a funny smell earlier and burn marks on my hinge (adapter UK/US)

    Hi Everyone
Had a bit of a scare earlier at work! Could smell burning in the office, with all the equipment we have it could of been anything but it did seem to stop once I shut down. I don't use the battery anymore as it died a couple of years ago and generally use the mac with only the magsafe adapter. Up and running now and cannot smell the burning anymore. But I have noticed that I have burn marks on my hinge where the vents are (http://twitpic.com/ldehc sorry not a very good pic).
The temperature of my mac gets very hot and when I first restarted they were (Fahrenheit)

This obviously gets worse the longer I use the machine.
Now I am currently holding out on buying a new laptop till I move to the States in December. Obviously it will be cheaper and fit the appropriate plugs (not 3 pin). But I need a computer for work, so if need be I might have to splash out the extra and buy one here. If I do will I need to buy a new magsafe adapter or can I just use one of those converters (3 pin to 2 pin)?
    So my question is really
Do those stats (temps/fans) seem weird or too high for an hours use?
Does the burnt marks look serious or have others noticed this from a 4/5 year old MBP?
Cheers and thanks for any responses
    Rob

To me that looks more like a liquid stain, like
something liquid got under your MBP and dried up.
Doesn't look burned at all. Or another thought is the
wax finish did dry up from the heat. A burn mark
would look like burned wood. YOu shouls purchase a
Podium Pad anyway for the sake of your table, but it
looks a good waxing would fix that.
    http://www.roadtools.com/podium.html
Are you kidding? I really hope you are, because that has to be the most uneducated post I have ever heard. That melted the lacquer on the top of the table, meaning the case would have to be at or around the boiling point of water, the temperature that lacquer chips are melted at. Wax would do NOTHING.

  • HELP! MacBook Pro cant recognise or burn DVDs but only CDs, and...

    Hi all
I noticed that there many of you have the same problem, but I really need some advice here, my MacBook Pro cant recognise or burn DVDs but only CDs, well actually occasionally it does recognise the DVDs then it burn but cannot write (on Toast), also in many other apps, like iDVD or DVDSP, it does run well on the first part of the burning but then failed at the end, with all kinda diff error msg. I have tried using many diff brands of disc too, inc verbatim.
So I borrowed my friends external DVD writer (actually a cheapy one with no brand), when I tried to burn using the external then an error msg comes up and says the writer cannot recognise the disc.
I dont wana get the MBP to repair but just wana get a external DVD writer to solve the problem, cos i need to use my computer and dont have a replacement mac, but now I am worry if the problem i now having is a system problem or just hardware, not sure if it is because the DVD writer i borrow is cheapy so it doesnt cope with mac, or just my MBP have system error that cant burn DVDs...
But my MBP can burn CDs so it is not a hardware problem? and if that is a system problem so even I buy a new DVD writer wont solve the problem?
btw, I have tried many solving methods like rewriting permission, reset PVRAM, etc
    PLSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS HELP

I'm having the same problem you are on my 2.4GHZ Core2Duo MBP running 10.5.2. It will sometimes recognize DVDs, sometimes not... it chuggs and clunks and then spits the disc out. If i re-insert it a view times it will show up on the desktop. I get failures from Toast as well as iDVD. If i keep trying i have been able to burn files onto a disc with the finder, but then the burner fails during the verification. If put the disc back in the contents appear to be correct (after a quick look). Burning CD-Rs seems to be working fine, that with the occasional DVD write seems to point away from the HW. I am trying with both Memorex DVD+RW and Verbatim DVD-Rs...
I have tried the command/option-PR reset combo with no luck.
    Any ideas?
    thanks,
    -graham
PS the specific error i got from iDVD was: The error #-2147352539 was reported…

  • Burn Marks on the bottom of my mac

my mac seems to have overheated and now there are some serious burn marks on the bottom. what can i do to help it cool down?

    Hey,
If you have burn marks you have some pretty serious issues. I'd contact Apple. I wouldn't be looking for a Band-Aid® when you need a tourniquet

  • I recently got a MacBook Pro and want to burn my videos taken with my iPhone to DVD. What is the easiest program for me to accomplish this? Help!

I recently got a MacBook Pro and want to burn my videos, taken with my iPhone, to DVD. What is the easiest way for me to accomplish this? I've been told I need to download a DVD creator/burner. I've downloaded 3 different free versions, but none of them seem to recognize the video files from my iPhone. I don't need anything fancy or complicated. I just want a way to store these vidoes and be able to play them on our DVD player. Help!

Copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder on your PC to /Music/ on your Mac.
Then delete what you don't want.
You will need to authorize yrou computer for the iTunes account yoru mother has.
You should create & use your own iTunes account for any more purchases.
You don't need to export anything and definitely don't need to (and shouldn't) convert anything.

After the last iPhone 5 update, the calendar date do not match the respective weekday. i.e. November 1st 2013 is marked as Saturday on the iphone.

I have this exact same issue!
I was on 2.0.1 running fine until late last week, noticed emails would not show up unless I had opened them in outlook. I thought I ran into a bug so I upgraded to 2.0.2. Now I can sync my email if outlook had them opened previously, but no calendar or contacts at all. I don't think my exchange admins will move me to another server, any other ideas?
I love my iphone but if these features don't work I can't use it. I would appreciate any ideas.

  • Imac has a burn mark on the logic board

    i have a imac emc2266
i recently came across a imac alumium 20 inch and the guy said it doesnt boot and doesnt chime
i have tried every setting and every test still nothing.T
The fans spin and the computer tries to boot
led 1and 2 are on but the logicboard doesnt have a third led
the computer will run a mouse but the keyboard will not power
i checked the logicboard it has a small burn mark
    next to the audioboard

I doubt any of those have burn marks. something on that board has fried causing the burn mark. you could find the failed part and try to replace it but you never know what else failed at the same time or failed because of the fried part.

MacBook Pro iTunes says "disc burner/software not found".  What does this mean?

    Hi Jetx273,
If you are getting an error message of "Disc Burner or Software Not Found" when trying to burn a CD in iTunes, you may want to take a look at the following article:

  • Why apple give up 1st gen iPad to support IOS 6

WHY APPLE GIVE UP 1ST GEN IPAD ,IOS 5.1.1 IS Last OS UPDATE FOR 1ST GEN.
AI........MY 1ST GEN IPAD CANT UPDATE TO IOS 6 ...GIVE UP

This question has been discussed several times during the past couple of days...concensus seems to run along the lines of the A4 processor and memory in the original iPad not being able to handle the demands of iOS 6.  Performance would be so degraded it would not be good to use.
