My macbook keeps beeping randomly

I want to kill the RAM issue right off the bat. I know what bad ram beeping is. That is a 'Hardware' beep. It comes from the logic board. The beep i'm talking about is in software. I'll be using my mac as usual and a 'software' sound effect beep will happen. It's not harsh or anything. It sounds like a notification or update but I can't find the source. It's not so much annoying as it is inquisitive. Does anybody know what program or function would be causing this?

One possibility is you have clicked on something unclickable or tried to execute a shortcut improperly. It can be a sound effect for Mail or some other application. It could be your Attention sound or Alert sound.

Your MBP has unusual symptoms.  I suggest starting with an Apple Hardware Test:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1509
You may need to start it with the OPTION and D keys.
It may be helpful if you indicated the model of your MBP and the OS.
    Ciao.

  • My Macbook keeps crashing, randomly, then restarts by himself. (log inside)

Hello ! I'm kind of desperate, I don't know what to do more than I've already have...
I've been formatting, reinstalling Mountain Lion on my Macbook Pro, but it still keeps randomly crashing. I can't determine what's the problem. Sometimes it crashes once in a week (which is ok for me), but sometimes it's something like 10 times in one hour ! Since I'm using my Macbook for work, it's very annoying. So, I've been browsing the console and here is a past from the crash report.
If someone could help, this would be really amazing. (anyway, thanks for reading so far).

Thanks a lot for your anser !
But to be honest, this is a bit desvatating for me. My guarantee has passed one month ago and I've been trying to reach the store where I bought my MacBook. They doesn't seem very helpful.
The point is, I can't afford another computer at the moment... so I've been thinking and something maybe comes out.
I know this may sounds extrem but, what about using BootCamp to work on my computer with Windows ? Will it change someting ? I didn't get all this troubles before updating Mountain Lion, that's why I'm wondering if using my computer with another OS could solve this problem. The point is, I've used this computer for something like more than 3 years, daily, and I never went into such an issue. So that's why I'm wondering, is it something driver/software related, or is it hardware ?
Sorry to ask this question, but I'm really desperate.

  • My MacBook keeps beeping 3 times when I try to turn it on and  it won't go on

    Hi
    I have a macbook ?2008
    Snow leopard
Recently it has become full and has been shutting down unexpectantly.
Now when I try and turn it on, it continually beeps 3 short then 3 long
I don't know what to do.
Any ideas. I'm worried I will lose all the files, photos etc. I haven't backed it up for a few months

Three beeps indicates a memory problem, not storage. In your case though try a Safe boot http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1564 if you can get it started you need to remove some things from your hard drive. When your Mac tells you that your start up drive is getting full you need to act.

  • My MacBook keeps beeping every 25 seconds.

MacBook Pro 15" non-retnia.  4 months old.  I hardly shut it down, maybe have 3x in 4 months, Genuis said that was fine.
This morning when I opened the cover, it was frozen, I couldn't move my mouse.  Then the beeping started.  It beeps every 25 seconds.
I muted it and shut it down but the beeping continued while off.  I am able to boot back up and use the computer but the beeping continues.  There are no updates available, nor have I updated anything recently.
Anyone know what is going on and how I can stop it?
    Thanks,
    Saraant

Ok, now I am going to sound like the biggest idiot here (if I didn't already by spelling Genius wrong lol)
But I heard the beep differently that last time and it didn't sound good, sounded like there was static interferance... that's when I realized my BF had his walkie-talkie on the table next to me and the battery was beeping "low batt"
UGH!  Anyway, I'm so happy it's not my Mac!!!
    Sorry to waste anyone's time!

  • Anyone know what this error means. My macbook keeps rebooting randomly.

    This is jiberish to me.

That panic was not caused by third-party software. If the problem is recurrent, the possibilities are:
    A damaged OS X installation
A fault in a peripheral device, if any
    Corrupt non-volatile memory (NVRAM)
    An internal hardware fault
An obscure bug in OS X
You can rule out the first two possibilities by reinstalling the OS and testing with non-essential peripherals disconnected and aftermarket expansion cards removed, if applicable. Sometimes a clean reinstallation (after erasing the startup volume) may solve a problem that isn't solved by reinstalling in place, without erasing.
Corrupt NVRAM, which rarely causes panics, can be ruled out by resetting it as directed in this support article.
If you've recently upgraded the memory, reinstall the original memory and see whether there's any improvement. Be careful not to touch the gold contacts on the memory modules when handling them. If necessary, clean them with a mild solvent such as rubbing alcohol.
The Apple Hardware Test, though generally unreliable, will sometimes detect a fault. A negative test can't be depended on. Run the extended version of the test.
In the category of obscure bugs, reports suggest that FileVault may trigger kernel traps under some unknown conditions. Most, though not all, of these reports seem to involve booting from an aftermarket SSD. If those conditions apply to you, try deactivating FileVault.
If none of the above applies, make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested. You may have to leave it there for several days. There isn't much point in doing this unless you can reproduce the panic, or if you can't, it happens often enough that it's likely to be repeated at the store. Otherwise you may be told that nothing is wrong.
Print the first page of the panic report and bring it with you.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you know how to restore, and you have at least  two independent backups.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
Keeping your confidential data secure during hardware repair
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.

  • My Macbook keeps on randomly flashing black and I do not know what this mean , Can anyone help me please ?

I have run out of options, I was hoping maybe somebody can help.

What have you done so far? Zap the pram? Go to system preferences and turn off sleep options? Reset the SMC? Hav you tried an external monitor to see if it does it?

  • My macbook keeps randomly turning off.

My macbook keeps randomly shutting off. It is no longer under warranty. I've read all of these discussions from people with similar issues and I've tried some of the things that seemed logical. it's a late 2007 MacBook. I bought it used from a friend and they never had this issue. It was wiped clean and when I got it, after about 5 LONG uses, it randomly shut down once. I installed Snow Leopard, updated to 10.6.8, then the problem started. The fan seems to be running fine. The problem occurs weather it's plugged in or not, so I'm pretty positive it's not the battery. I've done the PRAM reset and the SMC reset.. I also took the computer apart and cleaned it. Performed the SMC reset again and it seems to be working for right now. Hopefully that's all it needed but if the problem continues does anyone have any suggestions on what it may be? Thanks.

Resetting the SMC of an Intel-based portable Mac with a battery you should not remove on your own
Note: This will not delete any data.
The SMC is responsible for controlling various system functions. None of your data will be deleted by resetting the SMC.
Shut down the computer by going to Apple () > Shut Down…
Select Shut Down or allow the computer to shut down automatically.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter into a power source and then connect it to your Mac if you have not already done so.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift (⇧), Control (⌃), and Option (⌥) keys and the Power Button at the same time.
Release the (left side) Shift (⇧), Control (⌃), and Option (⌥) keys and the Power Button at the same time.

  • How do I delete my user ID photo, taken with the camera in the MacBook Pro.  It keeps appearing randomly when I sign in....even after I make changes.

How do I delete my user ID photo, taken with the camera in the MacBook Pro (when you first buy and set up the computer...).  The photo keeps appearing randomly, even after I've changed it to a "better picture".  I can't get the change to "stick".  Anyone else having trouble with this?  Thanks!

    what OS are you using?

  • Why does my MacBook pro keep beeping 3 times. The screen is frozen.

Like my MacBook Pro keeps beeping 3 times and pausing for 2 seconds. The screen is frozen.  How do I fix this and what is going on?

That is  a RAM issue, do you have any spare ram you can swap to confirm?  Possible causes:
    a ram module going bad
    installation of incompatible ram
your ram may have become dislodged
    I would suggest:
    - removing all ram from your MBP, and reinstall it to see if that helps.
    - if you recently installed new ram, remove it, then restart the computer with  the old ram to see if this helps.

  • MacBook Pro is not turning on and keeps beeping. Please help!!

My MacBook Pro 13" is not turning on. It keeps beeping three times then pauses and repeats. It froze earlier today and I had to force a shutdown. I've done this before and it's worked fine. How do I get it to work again??? Please help.

Three beeps at startup indicates that your RAM hasn't passed the integrity check and one of the modules is faulty.

I tryed turning on my macbook pro 13'' and the screen won't turn on and it keeps beeping at me and flashing the white light on the front of the computer at the same time.  any suggestions?

Beeping sounds usually indicate a RAM or logicboard problem.
If you have third party RAM recently installed, put the factory RAM back in.
Use the free MacTracker to find out your correct RAM spec and return the defective RAM for a exchange or buy top tier RAM from Crucial.com or OtherWorld Computing.
If you didn't mess with the RAM, take the machine to Apple for a free eval.
You might want to read this if the repair bill is not worth it.

  • Macbook keeps dropping wireless connection

    Hi
this is my first post so be gentle with me LOL
I have had many issues with BT over the last 8 months, mostly due to the speed I had in my area (was 0.45MB when wired at one point), but I recently started to have an issue with the laptops in the house.
I have 2 teenagers and luckily for them we all have Macbooks as I have given them my old ones when I have upgraded I am using a macbook pro (less than a year old & wireless N) and my eldest boy is using a Macbook (about 6 years old with wireless G) you might see where I'm going here....
the problem is the older macbook keeps losing connection on the wireless, I have called and spoken to the 1st line support guys in India but it's a bit of luck if you can understand them let alone find someone who knows what they are doing. As I work in IT I completely understand and normally ask them to read my notes before advising me especially as I had so many issues last year when I was given a number to get through to the priority care team LOL , so far I have tried the following:
moving the Hub 3 to several locations around the house
    reinstalling snow leopard
    using a wireless dongle
I live in the middle of nowhere so there are no other houses around which have a hub3 sp none can be affecting me and I've checked this by using programs like inSIDDer.
Finally I thought I'd take it to work to see if I could get the model number of the wireless card and order a new one and guess what it works fine!! So I thought I'd check at a friends and again it works fine for the whole time I'm there.
Brought it home and it won't stay connected GRRRAAA!!!!!!!
I've heard that the hub3 doesn't like having a wireless N & and wireless G laptops on the connecting at the same time is this correct? Has anyone else heard of this?
finnally I do have windows machines in the house and none of them  (2 laptops and a desktop which is wired) are having an issue but the Sony TV which is wired directly in to the hub will also drop connection randomly between 8 PM and 10 PM every day so I'm leaning towards the hub being a rubbish router instead of the problem lying with my Macbook
