My MacBook keeps ejecting all my cds/ dvds.  Help!

My MacBook keeps ejecting all my cds/ dvds.  Help!

It sounds like the superdrive is bad. The only other thing you can do is try to put it back in again. Some times the 3rd time works. None the less it will need to be replaced.

i have updated my macbookpro to lion and after this it does not exept any dvd and cds any more

Most often this is caused by dust on the Laser lens. I suggest you take a credit card and put only part way into the slot and get a can of compressed Air and go back and forth in the slot and restart your computer and try again

Try zapping PRAM. Hold down the cndopt+RP keys on restart (with the Leopard disk in), and release them after 3 "bongs". Then, immediately hold down the C key.

  • Mac Book / 10.5.2 ~ Keeps ejecting CD-R but DVD's seem okay.

    Hello there,
My apologizes, I know that there are different threads throughout several discussions on this or something that may seem very similar but regrettable I have not been able to find a solution.
I have a first generation Black MacBook running 10.5.2, I had a problem with my drive and in November Apple replaced it under apple care. Currently I have a :
    MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-857:
    Firmware Revision: HBEA
    Interconnect: ATAPI
Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipping Drive)
    Cache: 2048 KB
    Reads DVD: Yes
    CD-Write: -R, -RW
    DVD-Write: -R, -RW, +R, +RW
    Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, DVD-DAO
    Media:
    Type: CD-R
    Blank: Yes
    Erasable: No
    Overwritable: Yes
    Appendable: Yes
    Write Speeds: 8x, 24x
The problem has a few different elements:
    1. When I insert a CD-R disc that I know works (tried on a windows box), I get the standard Finder Message saying "You Inserted a blank CD. Choose an action from the pop-up menu or click Ignore." I click Eject and try again with the same result each time.
    2. When i try to record my own CD-r from a new spool it looks like it will burn but I get an error saying "... calibration problem . . ." and the disk fails.
I have tried to reset my PRAM no luck
I have tried to hold my MacBook upside down no Luck
i have re-installed 10.5.2 combined update. no luck
Checked the disk and permission . no luck.
If you are able to offer any advice it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for you help and any reply you may offer.
    In Peace,

Did this happen right after you got it back from Apple?
No it did not had burned over 50 disks before it began.. Started within the last 2 weeks. Cannot recall any particular change I made to the machine to prompt or trigger this.
If so, you should of sent it back then.
How long did you hold it upside down? The entire sequence.. Stated upside down. Put the disk in.. waited till i saw the Dialogue Box then turned it over in total about 10-15 Seconds.
When you say tried to reset pram, did you successfully do this? I believe so. .The machine restarted and beeped then went over the inital start up chime again. So i bleive it was successful
Did this start after you installed Leopard? I have only been using Leopard since I got the replacement drive. I thought 10.5.2 could have triggered it but no confirmation.
What brand of disk are you using?
Several including (imation, datawrite, princo) I know you will likely comment on the names of the disks. but i do not believe it to be the disks as even with the quality ones it is the same problem and when i place a burned disk in the drive it still thinks it is blank.
    Thanks again for the help.

I'm trying to upgrade from 10.5.8 to Snow Leopard but my macbook keeps ejecting the disc.  It started to install the first time and said it needed to restart to finish, restarted but ejected the disc.  It ejects every time now.  I've also installed the 10.5.8 combo update but that didn't help it.  I've tried restarting the macbook with the disc in, holding c, all that.  Why won't this work?!

Zap the PRAM and Reset the SMC, then try again.

  • My macbook keeps ejecting iLife 11 family pack

My macbook keeps ejecting iLife 11 family pack  disk?

The drive accepts discs but they do not mount or are automatically ejected
Check the disc's surface for scratches and dirt, since these things can prevent the disc from appearing on the desktop.
Reset the Power Manager (PMU) or System Management Controller (SMC).
Ensure your drive can read the specific type of disc being used. For example a "combo drive" can read a DVD-R and burn a CD-R however it cannot burn a DVD-R. The utility System Profiler may provide additional information regarding what media your computer supports.
If the discs continue to not be recognized, please contact Apple, contact an Apple Authorized Service Provider, or make an appointment with an Apple Retail Store for additional troubleshooting, evaluation, or service.

  • Macbook keeps ejecting audio CD

    Hello,
My MacBook Pro keeps ejecting a particular audio CD that I am trying to load. The drive is fine as it plays all other CD's and DVD's without incident. The problem with this disk is that it is disk 2 of a multi disk album. Coincidentally the two CD's have the same number of tracks, so I am willing to bet that the computer thinks that the second disk is actually the first one so it ejects it as soon as it reads what it is. Any help as to how to mediate this problem would be greatly appreciated.

There are a couple of possibilities:
The CD could be damaged or a bad burn.
Your SuperDrive could be failing. Ejecting a CD without reading is a common indicator.
If the CDs are readable by other readers then this is probable. In the last 4-5 years, I've had to replace all the superdrives in my systems at least once. "Correct" replacement drives are available at OWC
New Super-MultiDrives for Apple Mac Pro - up to 24X DVD, 16X DVD Dual-Layer, 48X CD Read/Write Speeds
Amazon, or other sites. I always check what OWC is selling first since it's correct, available, and reasonably priced.
Disk Utility isn't going to repair a problem on a CD or DVD.
Having the CD come out with scratches isn't a good sign either. It is possible to polish out scratches on a CD/DVD, but it's best done with a rig like this:
Digital Innovations Skip Dr. Classic Disc Repair System - Walmart.com
    good luck

  • Macbook keeps ejecting OS X 10.6.4

Basically want to factory reset my Macbook. I insert the Installation dvd it came with (10.6.4), spins while for a while then ejects. Currently running 10.6.8.

Disconnect all devices from the computer then do the following:
Boot up from your Snow Leopard Install DVD while holding down the "c" key.
Select the language you wish to use, and then choose "Disk Utility" from the menu bar.
Your HD should appear in a panel on the left hand side of the window which opens. Select it and then click on the "repair disk" button in the right hand section of the window.
Once this process has been completed restart your computer and repair permissions directly from Disk Utility.
If Disk Utility is unable to complete the repair, you will need to use a stronger 3rd party utility like DiskWarrior, Techtool PRO (not Deluxe) or Drive Genius.
    Try the combo update again.

  • Why my macbook keep ejecting cds or dvd

why my macbook pro keep on ejecting cps ?

Have you tried starting up while holding down the Option yet? That should prompt the Startup Manager window.
To install from the DVD disc, startup while holding the C key down and inserting the install disc at the same time.

  • Why does macbook keep ejecting install DVD?

Was given an old Macbook with only a Windows XP OS on it.   Boot camp can't find mac OS.   Trying to install "Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.3 DVD-ROM Full Version In Retail Box" I just purchased.  Problem is when I select the disk to boot from at startup it ejects itself and immediately loads the Windows.  What am I doing wrong or is this installation impossible?  It successfully reads this DVD & all other DVDs in the windows environment.
2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo - 1 GB RAM
I've tried resetting PRAM & SMC already with no success.
    Thanks in advance.

  • My Macbook Pro keeps ejecting all types of disks what should I do?

I just bought a new macbook pro and it's been 2 weeks since. And now every time I put any type of disk formats in the optical drive it makes weird noises and ejects it!
    what should I do?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Contact Apple. This could be a hardware problem, and if so, they will fix it under warranty.
    Good luck!

  • My MacBook keeps spitting out CD and DVD or it won't take it at all. What do I do?

I tired putting a CD in my Mac but it keeps spitting it out. It wouldn't go all the way in either. Sometime it won't even take the CD. What do I do? Its really important.

Please make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service. Or buy an external optical drive.

  • My internal CD drive keep ejecting any CD or DVD.

This happens after upgrade to Marvickes. I read the different threads about this issue and tried all suggestions. But nothing worked. 1 more thing is that I noticed latest was Nov 13, so any final solution?
I have Mac Book Pro 13, late 2011
    Thank you so much

It sounds like the lens on your optical drive is dirty. Use a cleaning DVD or wrap a microfiber cloth around a credit card and carefully slide it in and out a few times.

  • Drive Keeps ejecting out ALL Discs....

I replaced the original with a superdrive from macsales.com due to the same problem and it still keeps ejecting all discs i put in. Once in awhile it will sound like its reading but then ejects it out again. Anyone have any solutions?

Do you mean you "replaced" using of the internal drive by connecting an external drive? Therefore, you are still able to try using the internal drive...?
To rule out a software-related cause, you can try this test. Start up with Option key held down. This will give Startup Manager, where you will see your startup disk options. That screen comes up before the OS loads. Insert your Mac OS X installation disc at that screen. If the drive hardware is working, the Mac OS X installation disc should appear in Startup Manager as a startup disk option. However, if it does the same thing with eventually ejecting the disc, then it is likely that the internal drive mechanism itself is faulty in some way.
There are optical drive cleaning kits that may be helpful, if the problem is accumulated dust inside the drive.
