My Macbook keeps glitching and freezing

Since March 18, 2013 I have been dealing with glitches from my MacBook Pro. It freezes up and won't allow me to move my mouse or anything. Is this occuring with anyone else? The screen also glitches and beeps repeatedly at me because I have to use the On/Off button to shut down. Do you believe this could be from hardware or software damage? I take care of this like it's a baby with the except of carrying it in my backpack (Which I am very careful about) during school there has been no risk or time that I have dropped it or damaged it somehow. I could seriously use some help or light on the situation. Thank you!

i dnt think its even charging, it just has the apple logo on the screen, it dems and comes back on and then it says low battary please wait.

  • What to do when MacBook Pro glitches and freezes, then won't turn on?

My MBP glitched and froze the other day, so I turned it off and turned it back on and it was fine. A few hours later it glitched and froze again, I turned it off but this time it wouldn't start back up again and it made a beep every 10 seconds when I would try to turn it on. I took it to the Apple Store and the replaced the RAM under warranty. Today, it glitched and froze again but I got it to come back on. I don't know what to do, and it's only a matter of time before it does it again and it won't come back on.

  • Intel macbook keeps slowing and freezing

I have the 2006 Intel Macbook which Ive upgraded with an SSD drive and Mountain Lion. Periodically the system freezes up, say on launching an application, opening a web page etc, and takes a couple of minutes to come right. Ive done a complete reinstall of Mountain Lion which seemed to sort things for a little while. My intuition is that the Macbook is struggling with the SSD, like the 'old' innards are finding the drive too fast or something!
    Any suggestions anyone?

The first thing that jumps out is that Mountain Lion is not going to install on a circa 2006 MacBook because of its 32-bit EFI. At best, a Late-2006 MacBook will be running Lion. A "early" 2006 MacBook (Core Duo model) peaks at Snow Leopard.
The second thing that comes to mind is that you're probably having an issue with not enough RAM and that the freezing is caused by the system paging out to virtual memory. After such a freeze, open Activity Monitor and check to see how much swap is used (on the System Memory tab). If you've got a bunch of apps open, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see you several GB deep into swapping. That's not going to be a comfy fit.
Lion itself requires 2GB RAM minimum. A Late-2006 MacBook can unofficially support 4GB installed (with 3GB of that 4 being usable). That'll help a lot.
As for the SSD, your SATA system can only support 1.5GB/s and 3.0GB/s drives. I've an Intel Series 320 600GB SSD in my Mid-2007 MacBook and it rips along beautifully. If you've put in one of the new 6GB/s SATA drives, you may find it to be an awkward fit due to most of the newer drives not being able to  fall back to 1.5GB/s mode.

  • My iPad air keeps crashing and freezing when browsing the internet . Please help :(

My husband and I updated to the new OS. Now our iPad Air's keep crashing and freezing whilst browsing the internet.  We have done a reset and swiped away pages but nothing is helping. Its very frustrating Can anyone help? Thank you Jo

Please tell me that it has NEVER been jailbroke.  If it has not been jailbroke, here are some standard repair procedures:
First, confirm that this is what you did for a "reset."  Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again.  Also, since you have IOS-7, read this.

  • Imac keep crashing and freezing up when I open browsers and program

Hi, I have some problems for my Imac. I don't know why when I open my browsers and some program keep crashing and freezing up.
Any one can help this problem? Or should I follow any step can solve this problem? Thanks a lot!

Reinstalling Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.

  • Y does my phone keep reseting and freezing on me after a few seconds of use

    because its cold? <jk>
I don't know, but have you tried a hard reset:
Hold home button and sleep/wake button simultaneously
UNTIL you see apple logo (ignore red slider)
    Let go
    Let phone reboot
IF that doesnt solve the problem..try restore: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
and if that doesnt', make a genius bar appt and let the apple guys figure it out

  • My imac screen works fine but it keeps flikering and freezing whats wrong with it

my imac screen works fine but it keeps flikering and freezing whats wrong with it? theres no crack or problem with it it just freeze's ande flikers

It sounds as if your graphics chip (on the logic board) is failing.  The other answer could be that your screen is not well, but I lean more towards the graphics chip.  If you have Apple care or are still under warranty, call Apple.

  • Why my Firefox keeps lagging and freezing when scrolling on Facebook?

When scrolling through Facebook it keeps lagging and freezing for a few seconds, and when it happens it says "Connecting..." on the tab title. It keeps happening while I'm scrolling in the Facebook page, and if I leave the tab with Facebook working all Firefox looks a little laggy.
I've tried some possible solutions here in the support but it keeps happening.
It doesn't happen with others browser, such as Chrome.

My iphone 4s keeps glitching and shutting off. It only does this when using face time and just started about 3 days ago with no "events" prior to this. Running current update and have not been experiencing any problems. Phone is 7 months old.

    Hi chunkychild,
If you haven't already done so, does restarting or resetting the iPhone help the issue?

back up the device in icloud and restore it back to factory settings after doing so setup as new and see if the issue is still there. If it's not merge your icloud info back into your device by just loging in with your apple id after the the setup is complete.

  • My MacBook Pro Keeps Crashing and Freezing

    Hello,
I have a MacBook Pro which I purchased in October of 2007. Yesterday, I started experiencing some extreme problems with it. Here is how it began:
I was using Windows XP through Boot Camp when the screen began to flash rapidly. The same picture would remain, but the screen would flash white for a split-second and then be a normal screen. For a little while, this kept going on and I was still able to move my mouse (although I wasn't able to use my mouse to interact with any objects). Then, after a minute, my mouse was no longer able to move and the screen froze. I turned off the computer and then started it up again, but I was not able to get it to work. On the grey apple screen, the apple logo showed up along with the time dial below it. The time dial completed and the screen began to change, when suddenly the screen froze. I restarted the computer and this process repeated itself several times. I even tried entering into Windows through Boot Camp, but every time I would select Windows, the screen would go black and freeze.
Finally, I gave up and left my computer alone. I came back an hour and turned on my computer, and it somehow managed to work. Even the Windows side worked. However, after using OS X for a while it froze. This has happened again many times. The windows partition seems to be much more finicky than the OS X partition. Windows fails to boot >50% of the time and when it does boot, it will invariably freeze or crash within an hour. However, when I run Windows through VMware Fusion, it is much more stable.
Here are the cliff notes and other observations:
-MBP screen started flashing and froze. Since then, my MBP is often unable to boot up. When it does boot up, it often ends up freezing (Windows or OS X side).
-When OS X loads after having a series of Boot Up problems, an error report will be generated. This error report has been submitted several times to Apple.
-I am currently living in Argentina and do not have any access to any sort of Apple Support or Apple Stores.
-I do have a 3-year extended warranty on my MacBook Pro.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • Macbook pro crashes and freezes

Hello,i have a macbook pro 15" i7 2.2 GHZ with 4GB RAM and i have an issue which happened 2 months ago where while i was working normally, suddenly the screen turns off and the machine freezes but still working, for example if i am listening to a song on itunes when the issue occurs it loops on a certain part of the song and the hardware is working, fan and everything but the screen is off and freezed, then this issue happens more than before and i replaced the hard disk and nothoing changed, the reseller in my country did a check up on it and told me that it might be a video card problem and the whole mother board needs to be replaced which is very expensive, can anyone help me please ?

Before you go and shell out over a thousand dollars for a new Logic Board, I would try keeping the default settings for a little while, and try that. Also, if you have any special utilities (even the iStat widget), those can some times conflic with eachother and cause problems. So try to go for a bit without and see what happens. Its worth the pain and suffering if later you find you didn't need a new Logic Board afterall!
