My Macbook keyboard wont work !!

Most of my keys wont type out and then lets say i press the "C" key it types out cd3 that happens with my number keys as well as other keys ...
help any way to reprogram my keyboard or do i have to take it in? i no longer have warrenty

I just updated mavericks itunes 11.1.4 and raw camera compatibility update 5.3 and my keyboard wont work. How can i fix it?

So I updatedmy macbook pro 15in. App store had 1 update for iTunes11.1.4 and RAW camera compatability update 5.3. Minutes after it installed my keyboard quit working. Te only way it works now is by bluetooth keyboard and mouse. What can I do to fix this? Has anyone else had this issue?

Wireless keyboard wont work....

I bought a wireless keyboard (KB1) and it wont work. I suspect a defective receiver or possibly I was given the wrong receiver......it is a big square receiver (bigger than any I have seen) and it doesnt say HP anywhere on it. Does anyone know if it is the correct receiver or if I can get the correct one? Or is it too much of a hassle?

The newer wireless Bluetooth keyboards only have two batteries (the older ones have three).
Try a couple of "standard" troubleshooting steps to see if that helps:
Trash a preference file (com.apple.bluetooth.plist) and restart.
Reset the PRAM
Reset the SMC.
Instructions for resetting PRAM and SMC are in knowledge base articles.

RESET DEVICE
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for device to restart (no data will be lost).

[solved]udev boot error - usb keyboard wont work in recovery shell

i just hooked up an external drive for the first time to this system, i didnt do anything to it yet, except i went to run gdisk and realized it wasnt installed yet. So i ran
pacman -Syu gdisk
from an SSh terminal, then when it was updating a package, cant exactly remember which one but i hitnk it was either kernel or udev, the ssh termilal appeared to disconnect becuause it lost its output.
then i opened another terminal sshed in, and was able to run pacman -Syu again, which means the first update did finish, or the lockfile wouldnt have let me update a 2nd time i would think. (note, the newly external hard drive was connected during all these events). Something wierd happened here.It had files that needed updating, which i thought that would be rare since i just updated, unless it simply didnt finish, and the lockfile wasnt in place or something, then it finished updating successfully, and i was still remoted into a working SSH command line (i.e. didnt get kicked out this time).
Now is where the fun begins. i typed 'reboot', and the system appeared to reboot, but i wasnt able to shell in this time. i connected the monitor to the system almost a minute later, and realized it was still shutting down, then when it rebooted i get an error message.

NOW THE KEYBOARD DOESNT WORK, it only works in bios. It stops functioning (the numlock light) as soon as udev starts to initiate, which leaves me with no way to try to reupdate udev and the kernel again to see if i can fix it.
all i could think of was to disconnect the external drive, that didnt help. then i tried checking the USB settings in bios for any legacy options, it doesnt have them (Dell Optiplex), so i just made sure the USB boot was off and all ports enabled.
Now im totally stuck short of a recovery disk.
any suggestions how i can just get the keyboard working and chroot into arch and update some package to fix it without having to jump through hoops to make a recovery disk while here at work with limited resources?

ok i found what happened, so far.
looking in /var/log/pacman.log i see a gap in the installs, a 2 minute gap, which is the time i rebooted and reran the install.
at 9:25.. i was running an upgrade, and the last one in the minute of 9:25 is
9:25[PACMAN] upgraded linux-firmware (20131013.7d0c7a8-1 -> 20131230.52d77db-1)
this is where the shell got disconnected therefore i wasnt able to see what happened after this.
the the log continues at 9:27 minute, has to be when i rebooted and shelled back in and reran the upgrade, the log starts with
9:27[PACMAN] upgraded linux (3.12.6-1 -> 3.12.8-1)
so it appears that the shell got disconnected as it was upgrading linux-firmware (20131013.7d0c7a8-1 -> 20131230.52d77db-1) .
This begs the questions; Did the SSH shell get disconnected simply because the system was using those resources at the time? i assume this. the next question is, was it wrong to be upgrading via remote SSH shell then? Or whats likely that happened here?

Aluminiun keyboard wont work under 10.5 as it should

Does anybody knows the reason why this new keyboard stop working to its full extend?, the system preferences dont show the programability of the F13 to 19 and some of the keys have random behavior.

The plot thickens, so to speak!
I reset the keyboard preferences in OS 10.5.1 as suggested and the F12 key on the Macally keyboard invoked Dashboard. However, when I changed the F-key for Dashboard to F13, as before, the F12/Alt+F12 key would not open or close the drive bays.
I then hot-swapped the Apple USB keyboard that came with my old G4 400 and, hey presto!, pressing F12/Alt+F12 DID open the drive bays, as it should do! Even more bizarre, when I hot-swapped the Macally keyboard back again, the F12/Alt+F12 keys also worked to open the drive bays!!! BUT, after I rebooted with the Macally keyboard still attached to the Mac, the F12/Alt+F12 keys stopped working again.
When I then selected 10.4.11 as the startup volume in the 10.5.1 Startup Disk Preferences, my Mac wouldn't even restart until I plugged the Apple keyboard back in! Then it restarted in Mac OS 10.5.1 instead of 10.4.11.
My brain hurts!!!

Macbook keyboard not working in X11

I just installed arch on my macbook 2,1 and I got X11 to detect my screen, but the keyboard doesn't work. i.e. absolutly NO input.
The only thing to do is to emergency shutdown. I haven't really done anything to my xorg.conf except set the keyboard model:
Option "XkbModel" "madbook79"
Any Ideas?

Macbook Keyboard not working in Bootcamp (XP SP2)

Hey all,
Booted into XP just now, have no Trackpad or Keyboard (on a Macbook so that's all there is...). Works fine in OS X.
Any advice? Searched, but all I could find was about external kb's.
Reinstall BC? Using 2.1 atm..

I've been using my Split x2 out of town without the keyboard. Yesterday i got a message [Flash Dock EC] [Yes] [No]. Today a got home and the keybpard no longer works. The computer doesnt see the keyboard or power cord plugged in to it. help please?

About the cursor disappearing, you mean, it stops responding or it just disappears, but keeps working?
I have this problem (freezing) and mine is caused when you try to move the screen, I think the connector isn't good enough and for a few miliseconds it loses the conectivity and windows turns it down. I tried everything and I didn't find a solution as I truely believe it is a hardware/design problem (bad connector). My solution is to use a wireless mouse or touch the screen =/
And there's also the Synaptics leak memory issue rolling out for over 6 months now and no solution...

Can't complete Windows 7 installation - mouse and keyboard wont work

I'm trying to install Windows 7 on my new iMac and am running in to a problem. I have the comprehensive instructions document printed, and am following it. I've created the partition for Windows using Boot Camp Assistant, I've inserted the Windows CD and selected Start Installation in Boot Camp. The computer restarts and loads up from the Windows CD. All good so far. It loads some Windows files and then the installation options pop up asking me to select language, country etc. Its here that I get stuck, as my iMac's wireless keyboard and magic mouse have stopped responding.
I thought I must have missed something and have reread the instructions, but there's no mention of the iMac's peripherals not working during the Windows installation. What am I to do? I don't have any other USB mice or keyboards to hand if that's the solution.

Just a follow up question on this - does the size of the partition have to just be enough for the windows installation itself, or for all programmes you would want to install to run under Windows?
I've set the partition size at 32gb for a windows 7 installation, but im thinking if it has to be big enough for my games collection i'll need to start over the partition 50/50.

My keyboard wont work to turn my computer on

Got a little bit of water on Keyboard but not very much. Computer wouldn't turn on the next day, the day after that it turned on and off by itself several times. When it turned on the screen came up for me to enter my password as it normally would but the keyboard would not work to enter it. Battery later died and now it won't turn back on. Battery is fully charged. I believe the main issue is the keyboard...I tried SMC reset but once again without the keys working it is pointless..

There's no telling what the water fried. You probably took out a couple circuits on the motherboard. I think your options are to take it in for a service quote, which is going to be expensive, or to hook up an external keyboard. Search these forums for "liquid damage." There's just no good news. Sorry.
