My MacBook (late 2008, running OSX 10.9.3) does not recognize my Bose Wave Bluetooth adapter
I have a Bose Wave radio with the auxillary bluetooth adapter. My iPod Touch (iOS 5.1.1) works perfectly with it, but my MacBook doesn't even recognize it.
I figured it out...
On your Wave III remote, press "Aux" until "Bluetooth" appears, then hold down the presets "5" button until "Discoverable" appears. Open your mac's bluetooth in system preferences and it should show up and pair. It worked perfectly for me.

Since you're running iTunes 9.2, your Mac has a G4 or better CPU. You need to purchase and install Mac OS X 10.5(G4 or G5) or Mac OS X 10.6(Intel) from a DVD. Mac OS X 10.6 DVDs are free for paid MobileMe members.

I have an iMac G5 with OSX 10.5.8 that does not recognize my Western Digital external drive. I had no problems with this until I upgraded to 10.5. Most of my music library is stored on the external drive. Is there any way to access it to recover the music?
How is it connected? Have you tried different port? How about logging in as a different user then trying to mount the drive.

Preview in OSX 10.7.5 does not recognize RAW files from Canon EOS 6D
What must I do so that I can see downloaded RAW photos from my new Canon 6D in "Preview" in my iMac's OSX 10.7.5? Preview does show photos from my earlier Canons fine. My older version of Aperture can open the 6D's files, as can, of course, Photoshop.
I could be mistaken, but I believe that Preview does not support RAW - only Aperture, a newer iPhoto version, and third party software will handle it. Does your Canon come with the Digital Photo Professional software from Canon? That should be compatible with RAW as well.
Mountain Lion appears to have more compatibilities:

OSX 10.3.9 does not recognize Memerex 2GB USB Travel Drive
My USB and firewire card is operating properly and recognizes the USB printer and keyboard but does not regognize the USB flash memory drive.
Do PC formatted flash memory drives not function with OSX 10.3.9?
I was hoping to use the flash drive to do nothing more than move jpg files from Mac to PC.I have SanDisk USB 4 Gb flash and was going to use it for exactly the thing as you do and ran into same problem. However somewhere I read that the flash drive can be reformatted (I think MSDOS) so it will be recognized on both PC and Mac. But since the prices of the flash drives dropped so much I just ran down to Staples and got another identical SanDisk flash and now use one for my PC and one for my Mac.

After sleep, retina MacBook Pro (Mid 2014, on 10.9.4) does not recognize usb connected mouse movement. I have tried a generic usb mouse and my Razer Deathadder usb mouse. Both mice work before sleep; but after sleep, the computer no longer recognizes mouse movement while still recognizing the mouse buttons when pressed. Any idea why this is occurring?

I have a 15" MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (Early 2008) running OSX Lion 10.7.5.
I want to erase the Hard Drive, install Mountain Lion, and manually restore select applications and files.
Is there a known procedure to do this? Any tips or feedback?1. Make a backup, open App Store and purchase Mountain Lion. When its download finishes, close the installer and open Lion Diskmaker to create a bootable USB drive with Mountain Lion.
2. Press Option key while your Mac is starting, select the external drive and open Disk Utility.
3. Select Macintosh HD in the sidebar and erase the drive.
4. Close the window and install Mountain Lion -
MacBook Pro (Late) 2008 running 10.8.4
I was using my computer every morning as I do everyday with no issues. I had left home for most of the day. Closed lid and while I was gone for a couple of hours. I returned home, opened my MacBook and nothing but a black screen. I've tried many things all evening try and fix this problem out of "safety sleep mode, and other similiar tricks that other people had tried.
I still have a Black Screen and cannot get my macbook out of what seems to be the sleep mode.
I've done a master reset and after I restart, I do get the power up chime but still a black screen. I don't know what else to do. Please help. Should I bring computer to a local repair shop or is there something I can do to fix myself. I just don't know where to start.
Thank you.

Should I fix or replace my MacBook (late 2008)?
Hello,
My MacBook (late 2008) has been running slow for some time now. I think it might be time for a new hard drive... or maybe a new Mac, but not too sure what is the root cause. Here is the data pulled from EtreCheck. I'm looking for some expert advice, whether to hold off buying a new Mac, or if it might be cost effective to upgrade some of the inside to make it as good or better than new... and what the cost might look like to do so. Thanks for your help!

Upgrade SATA drive for macbook late 2008
Hello!!
I am here to ask for help. Let me tell you a bit more about my Mac:
Late 2008 silver 13" MacBook 250GB 2GB RAM 2.4GHz IntelCore2Duo DDR3 MB467LL/A, currently at 10.5.8 OSx system (yes I know I need to update the software as well!)
I currently bought 4GB kit (2x2GB) RAM to upgrade on my silver MacBook (late 2008), and would also like to update my hard drive.
I have looked around on online shops for 2.5" 9mm SATA drive, and came across to 1TB for not too bad a price (between £85 to £100).
Anyone know whether if this is ok for my laptop?
Samsung, WD Scorpio Blue and Toshiba, all are at 5400rpm for 1TB. (However there is 750GB Seagate 7200rpm 16MB - recommended???)
Large memory/drive are usually much needed with me as I do use a lot of design work e.g. Adobe InDesign/Illustrator/Photoshop...you get the drift .
Any advice would be much appreciated!
Looking forward to hear from you soon!
Thanks again,
ejburton. If all the technical specs (like SATA, physical dimensions, power usage etc) all match then you can use any drive of any available size in your MBP. Right now it appears that the largest available is the Western Digital 250GB 5400rpm drive where as the fastest is the Hitachi 200GB 7200rpm drive. Fujitsu and Toshiba have annonce 300GB drives though I've not heard that either are yet shipping.
I have to say that I'm very pleased with the Hitachi 200GB 7200rpm drive. -
Do I have all the parts to replace my HDD with a new SSD on my Macbook (late 2008)?
Hey everyone, I am trying to figure out if have all the parts to replace my hdd with a new ssd on my macbook (late 2008 aluminum).
I just bought a crucial mx100 SSD and plan on replacing my mac HDD. I have the appropriate screwdrivers, and a bootable OSX on a usb drive. I also purchased a sabrent usb 2.0 to sata/ide hard drive adapter.
How do I replace and install OSX on my new SSD?
From what I read here are the steps I'm planning on taking.
1) Detach the old HDD
2) Attach new SSD.
3) Turn on computer and use the bootable usb drive to install OS X.
Does that work, I think I read somewhere about maybe formatting the SSD before I can use the bootable usb. Any input or help would be awesome. Thanks.
I'd prefer to do a clean install of yosemite and not carbon copy my old HDDHi Bradtk24,
On this site you will find the requirements for the physical change that you want to make.

My macbook pro 2008 running OS X 10.5.8. However I have recently bought an iPhone5 and I cannot curently connect my iPhone to my mac, as I need iTunes 7 - BUT i can't download iTunes 7 since my software does not support it!
So I obviously need to connect my iPhone to my laptop, but the software is getting in the way! How can I update my software so that I can run iTunes 7
Many thanksStart by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:
Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
Whilst Apple have withdrawn Snow Leopard from their stores, you can still get it from Apple by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE (if you are in the USA) and they will supply the SL DVD for $20 for a single user, or $30 for a family pack that covers up to 5 Macs. You can also purchase the code to use to download Lion from the same number (Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM, running the latest version of Snow Leopard), or you can purchase Mountain Lion from the App Store - if you can run that:
http://www.apple.com/osx/specs/
If you are outside the US call your national Apple Helpline:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
If you're in the UK, use this number: 0871 508 4400
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard.
To use iCloud you have to upgrade all the way to Mountain Lion:

Has anyone resolved the whirring sound from the Macbook late 2008 Optical Drive Self-diagnostic yet?
Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
Do the following:
1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
If the hard drive does not appear in the DU sidebar list then it has died and will have to be replaced. No need to proceed beyond this point.
2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed with reinstalling OS X. Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files. After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install the Combo Updater for the version you prefer from support.apple.com/downloads/.
