  • IMac 21.5 inch mid 2010 the beach ball comes out and won't let me do anything

As soon as I login to my iMac, the beachball comes out and won't let me do anything. I can't even force quit or shut down computer.

Insert your original install disc and start up while holding the C key. Choose your language and at the next screen instead of starting the installer go to the menu bar on top and click the Utilities menu, select Disk Utility. See if you can repair your hard drive. Also while you're in DU look towards the bottom of the window and check the SMART status of your hard drive, it needs to say verified.

I-Tunes cannot connect to I-Pad but i forget the I-Pad password. What should i do?

If you've forgotten the passcode then you may need to put the iPad into recovery mode before your computer's iTunes will recognise it : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808 - you should then be able to reset the iPad and restore/resync your content to it.
If you do it via a computer that it' not normally synced to then (from here) :
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.

I'm not sure about a restocking fee, but heard of people returning items for a new or differant one. they said they held your original payment as a credir toward your new order.. I'd just call them and ask.  good luck.

  • HT1657 I've just rented End of Watch and the lip sync is out, what should I do?

Try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account (Store > View My Apple ID on iTunes 11) and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that film and use the 'Report a Problem' link and fill in details about the problem (iTunes support should reply within, I think, about 24 hours).
Some people have had a problem with the 'report a problem' link (it's been taking people to this site on a browser instead of showing a form in iTunes) - if it does that to you then try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page.

  • Everytime I connect to update message comes up saying There was a problem with the downloading The network connection timed out what should I do

After connecting with itunes phone starts update but then message comes up saying "There was aproblem downloading the software for the iphone The network connection timed out" How do I fix this problem?

Usual cause of this is security software on your computer: Firewalls & Anti-Virus software. Turn off or disable all of that stuff, try again.

  • My Macbook cannot accept the ilife!!!   What should I do??!??!

It said: "future updates of these apps can be found through Software Update" What should I do??!??!

That message looks like a message you recieve when iLife is already installed, so try hitting the Apple logo in the upper-left corner of your screen, and hit Software Update.

  • The base  of the laptop is popping out what should i do.

it fell dows on the back.

What year is this MBP?  When you say fell on the back, did that damage any of hte screws that hold the back on?  It would be best to take it to an Apple Retail store genius bar and have the technicians repair the screws/install new screws that will hold.

  • Cracked hinged of Macbook mid-2010

The Macbook mid-2010 has an expired warranty, both sides of the hinge has a hairline crack. I called Apple Customer Service this afternoon and said that I can have this fixed but I have to pay for it. Is it possible to just bring this to Apple then just add a little amount in exchange for say an MBA 11" 64gb? I hope Apple will consider a global recall for this product, they could at least give a free repair. Anybody with same problem?

ok, I brought the Macbook to a Genius Bar (2hours drive), they said that they won't replace the Macbook nor give a free repair since it's out of warranty, their charging me $200+ (forgot the exact amount, maybe $280+) for the repair. It's so expensive, so I decided not to push through and the guy from the Genius Bar advised me it is not worth it to pay that amount for a small crack, he also said to use it more often and let the crack get bigger Apple might replace the whole unit for free if the crack is big enough! I hope Apple will recognize the problem so there would be a global recall or replacement of the Macbook mid-2010.
By the way, this is the image of the crack on the right side. There's also a smaller crack on the left side.

  • Does Apple discount existing MacBooks when the new ones come out?

I haven't bought a Mac in over 10 years and I don't how Apple does business. I want a new MacBook Pro, but I'm not in a super-rush. I can wait another three months, if necessary.
The current MacBook Pro (top of the line) is more than sufficient for me, it's just a little expensive. I certainly don't need whatever's coming next, but the current 17" is mighty attractive.
When Apple releases the new MacBook Pro's ... (1st quarter 2010, right?) ... do the existing high-end 2009 models usually sell at a big discount to get rid of the current inventory? You know ... (like car guys say) ... blowing out last years models to make room for the 2010's?
Is that the cheapest time to buy the previous model? When Apple releases the newest ones?

There is no "blow-out sale" when the new models come out, at least through Apple. Apple generally keeps a very tight inventory (only a few days worth evidently) on hand, so when new models are about to be released, they are pretty low on inventory of the existing model. In fact, when new models are up for sale through Apple, the older ones disappear from their website/stores.
Some 3rd party resellers may have discounts on older models, but they too are usually not of the "huge sale" type. A 10% discount is usually pretty generous.
Other options are to buy a refurbished machine through Apple's website (cheapest option), or if you're a student, faculty, or staff member of an academic institution, take advantage of the student discount (also around 10%)

The startup disk may need repairing...
Startup your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys.
From there you should be able to access the built in utilities in OS X Recovery

  • Keyboard Backlight in Macbook mid 2010?

Is it possible to put a backlight keyboard on my Macbook mid 2010? Recent Macbooks have keyboard backlights installed already.
    Thank you!

No, the logic board desn't have the hardware for it. The Late 2008 2.4Ghz Aluminum Unibody was the only MacBook to have the backlit keyboard. MacBook Pros are the only other Macs to have the backlit keyboard.

  • Upgrade RAM on my MacBook (mid 2010)

    Hi everyone,
I bought the latest generation MacBook (mid 2010) last year and now I'd like to upgrade my Ram from the defalult 2 GB (2x1GB) to 4GB (2x2GB). My question is: where can I buy my new RAM? The Apple Store is way to expensive....so I decided to buy it somewhere else.
I live in Italy and I've found this website that sells Mac-compatible RAM....what do you think of this (Kit 4 GB (2x2 GB) RAM SODDR3 1067 per MacBook/Pro Unibody)...? Another option would be buying my new RAM on other websites...such as Crucial or Kingston....what do you think? Is there anyone of you who has already done the upgrade and so can suggest me the best solution?
Thank you very much in advance to anyone who would like to help me!

Thank you very much for your reply! Another question: which type of screwdriver do I need? The TORX one?
If there's someone else who wants to add his experience in upgrading RAM, please reply to my post!
