My macbook pro can't detect the NAS after the NAS reboot.

After I reboot the QNAP NAS, my macbook pro can't detect the NAS. I can't find the NAS drives in Finder even I input the new IP address. I remember my macbook pro was able to detect the NAS automatically before. Please help.

Yes.  If you have a non retina MBP, look at some options listed here:

Open Disk Utility and see if the USB drives show in there. If they don't then it is a USB port or bus problem. If they do show in disk utility are they formatted in either Mac extended or a Windows format?

  • 13" macbook pro can't detect tv

So once again I am wondering if anyone can offer a solution for this problem; my 13'' macbook pro will not detect any tv that it is connected to.  I have tried both a 42'' Vizio and a 40" Samsung.  I got it to connect two times, and then nothing. Help me Obi Wan Kanobi, your my only hope...

Sorry that I didn't update after my trip to the Apple Store.
They fixed it, but it was weird. The booted to an external USB drive to a different install of 10.5. From there, they were able to set the drive region to 1 (I'm in America), and the choices allowed 2,3,4, but no others. That was strange in and of itself.
After they set the region, it must have updated the drive firmware, because when we rebooted into my install, the DVD played perfectly.
I'm not sure why this happened, or what flakiness is happening in the DVD regions with regard to this new MBP, but it works now.
Perhaps you can find a colleague with a Mac with firewire and you can use it to boot into Target Disk Mode and use their OSX install to help configure your DVD region? Booting to USB media is also possible. I'm just trying to brainstorm some suggestions to try that might keep you from having to do a fresh reinstall.

  • MacBook Pro can't detect my projector. Only displays screen saver

Tried connecting Optoma projector to new Macbook Pro. However only the screen saver is being displayed. When I go to Preferences - Displays - just says that no device is detected and gives no options to change anything. Did not have this problem with previous MacBook. Please help.

Assuming the drive is not defective I would guess you didn't install it properly. Most likely the ribbon cable is not properly connected. You do know you must partition and format the drive? See the following:
    Extended Hard Drive Preparation
    1. Boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger or Leopard.)
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Set the number of partitions from the dropdown menu (use 1 partition unless you wish to make more.) Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID (only required for Intel Macs) then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the volume(s) mount on the Desktop.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.

  • My new macbook pro can't detect wifi sometimes...

    hi guys...
i just bought late 2011 macbook pro on 27 april this year...it was succesfully connect to any wifi at anytime & anywhere...
but the problem begins when i stayed at my brothers's house...
my macbook can connect to the wifi there for the 1st time, but after i shut down my MBP and turn it ON again, it cannot detect the wifi at my brother's house, but it's weird when it can detect wifis from neighbourhood...
there' a solution for this problem...i have to repeatedly turn ON & OFF the wifi on MBP many times before it successfully connected...
but unfortunately after shutdown & turn it ON again, i've lost the connection again...what i have to do is repeatedly turn ON/OFF the wifi on MBP AGAIN until it was successfully connected...
pls help me, i already googled this problem but can't find the right solution anywhere...pls help me....thanks in advance....
    *additional note:-
    - my iphone4 & my ipad2 doesn't have the problem detecting & connecting to the wifi at my brother's house....
    - i live in malaysia, my iphone4 & ipad2 is malaysian version but my macbook pro was US version...

Just finished trying the suggestion from my Mac store "genius", and it WORKED.  He suggested that I connect to the router directly with ethernet.  His thought being that once my MBP found the IP address it would be able to find the network wirelessly.  While still connected I went to System Preferences/Network, selected WI-Fi and entered the network info (name & password).  There it was - connected.
Don't know how to make this solution available to everyone with the same problem.  If someone knows how, go for it.
Thanks to everyone who responded.  Your efforts are appreciated.
    Jim

  • My husband and I both have Macbook pros, can we both back up to the same TC?  I have noticed a bunch of his files on my computer and I am not sure how they got there other than from the TC, Suggestions or advice helpful.

I am new at posting here also, so pls forgive me in advance.  My husband and I have been backing up our Macbook Pros to the same Time Capsule, should we not be doing this?  If we should not, what would you recommend?  I recently got the message that my drive was almost full and so I started to delete misc items from my downloads folder and I found a bunch of my husbands records that got downloaded to my Macbook, could this be because we both backed up to the TC?  If it is not, do you have any ideas what may have caused this?  THX

Horrible idea, youre building a 2X tragedy ready to bite BOTH of you.
Its bad enough for one person to do that, but 2X for two people to do same.
Hard drives aren't prone to failure…hard drives are guaranteed to fail
Methodology to protect your data. Backups vs. Archives. Long-term data protection
    Data redundancy begins at...
    1. All data on the computer is just that, your data.
    2. All data on the first external HD is your backup.
    3. Only the second external HD is your first safe data redundancy.
Protected data redundancy begins at the second external copy due to:
    1. It not being connected. Any drive connected, backup or otherwise, is not to be considered a safe data redundancy.
    2. Being the backup failsafe to the first external HD, not to the data on the computer which never should be counted in terms of data protection as "a copy".
    3. External drives will invariably fail, and since most people falsely believe their external HD is their "safety", this error of perspective must be countered by yet another external copy of ones data.
Ones vital data must always be considered wholly independent and irrelevant of any data on the computer itself. Failure to look at one data in this matter is a failure which often can and does culminate in data loss.

  • Windows XP on MacBook Pro - Can't connect to wireless after bootcamp, why?

1)I just bought MacBook Pro, just did a boot camp with windows xp. With Windows xp installed, it can't detect wireless network. What went wrong?
2)When setting the boot camp, do i need to have the boot camp driver? Why?
3)Can Windows xp on Macbook pro use the same built-in modem, or do i need to get a modem/ adaptor for windows on mac, so the wireless (on window xp on mac) would be able to work.

Did you install Apple's bootcamp drivers after you installed Windows? You should be able to accomplish that by booting into Windows and then inserting the installation disc that came with your MacBook Pro. Without Apple's drivers, Windows may not know how to use the wireless circuitry on your Mac.
    3) Can Windows xp on Macbook pro use the same built-in modem, or do i need to get a modem/ adaptor for windows on mac, so the wireless (on window xp on mac) would be able to work.
With the proper drivers Windows should be able to use the wireless equipment that came with your Mac.

  • My 2011 MacBook Pro does not start and stop after the apple appear, they said that the problem is a video problem and need to change the logic board. Cost almost same to buy a new one. Somebody have the same problem?

I have a MacBook Pro early 2011. Does not start. After the apple show, a blank screen appear. The service said that the problem is with the video plaquue in the logic board. Need to change. Cost lmmost the same than a new MacBook Pro. Somebody has the same problem? What we can do?

I hate to break this to you, but life isn't fair. If your job is that critically in need of a computer, then you should have a spare to use for just this kind of situation or have your employer provide you with a computer to use.
Computers break down, just like cars. If your car breaks down do you curse the car maker or get it fixed? Surely, you paid more for your car than the computer.
This is reality. Best get used to it because it won't get any better.

  • MacBook pro stuck at white screen right after the chime.

Hi, yesterday I partitioned my hard drive and made a different partition titled backtrack 5. I inserted the backtrack live DVD into my MacBook Withe the option at boot and it installed on that exact partition. Then I exited opted Mac sox again. Browsed the web a little. Then a little Netflix. Then I turned it off. Today I am trying to turn it on and well its stuck at the white screen after the boot. No apple logo, no world logo. Nothing. Just a white screen. I tried doing command r, option, shift. Nothing helped and there is still a DVD stuck inside and I can't do anything to eject it. So I don't know what to do. Please help. Please.

To get the stuck cd out of the sick Mac, reboot holding the trackpad button down, this should force a hardware eject.
Next your going to need another Mac on 10.7 with a Superdrive and cd's.
Your going to burn a cd of the EFI firmware, but you MUST know your exact make and model.
    Download it here
    https://support.apple.com/kb/HT1237
These are the instructions how to install the EFI firmware
    https://support.apple.com/kb/HT2213
Now what this will do is put the correct firmware into the boot memory, which hopefully should hopefully allow you to command r boot into Recovery.
I don't know if this will write to the EFI parititon or not, replacing the hosed up mess there or not, you'll find out.
If you get into Recovery, your going to need to do this if you don't have a backup of your personal data off the machine.:
Create a data recovery, undelete boot drive

  • MacBook Pro won't detect Thunderbolt display after sleep

I've noticed a rather anoying bug with Mavericks (or at least this issue only started after upgrading to the latest Mavericks) When the MacBook goes to sleep and I wake it up again, it no longer recognises the Thunderbolt display and USB devices attached to it.  The only way yo resolve the problem simply is to remove the thunderbolt cable and re-insert it.
Has anyone else come across this or have any views on how to resolve more permanetly.
    Many thanks
    Stuart.

I have the same problem and I find it very annoying. There are many threads on the Internet (such as https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5602696) but so far no solution. :-(

  • Macbook Pro can't find Wifi after closing

I moved house and got a new wifi provider. My Macbook Pro can't find it sometimes after I close my Macbook which forces me to restart for it to join the network automatically. SOMETIMES I get a popup window with networks that it picks up and SOMETIMES my network is listed and I can select that, but not all the time. Why cant my Macbook find my network sometimes? It can find everybody elses except mine!

  • Late 2011 Macbook pro will not detect HDMI

I recently purchased a MDP to HDMI adpater for my late 2011 macbook pro (I have OS X 10.7.5). I hooked it up to my television and tried to use it as a monitor but my macbook pro refused to detect display. Heck the screen didn't even turn blue when I hooked the adapter up. I wanted to make sure my port was working and hooked up my MDP to VGA and it worked like a charm the screen turned blue and my cintiq was detected immediately. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem as well?
Ther is a possiblity that it is the actual adapter because I bought a floor model in an effort to save some bucks. So I'm going to take it back for an exchange later on today and see if that works. But if that isn't the case does anyone know how to resolve this issue.

Did you click the "Detect Displays" button in System Preferences > Displays?:
    Bottom-right?
