My MacBook Pro can't get pass booting

Hi guys, please in need your urgent assistance. My 2010 MacBook Pro (OS X Mavericks) has refused to get pass booting. I can only log in the guest user account which only access safari without any problem but not the main administrative account. On entering the password for the main account, the apple logo with a spinning wheel and a progressive bar appears. The bar progresses to 99.9% and finally 100% before disappearing and then the wheel goes on for about 5seconds before my Mac suddenly goes off by itself. I have followed many instructions on this community in an attempt to fix this to no avail. I have done the Cmd + R (disk utility) verified my disk volumes which was certified ok. I also did the Cmd + S with the /sbin/fcsk -fy command and got the feedback "Incorrect number of thread records (4, 16943)" and The volume Macintosh HD could not be repaired after 3 attempts. ***The volume was modified**
Finally, I did the Cmd + V (verbose mode) and saw this message briefly before is disappeared> efiboot loaded from device: Api(PNP0A03,0)/Pci(1F12)/SATA(0,0)/HD 9576-E753-45FD-AA80-922B53F7FDDF)
boot file path: \system\Library\coreservices\boot.efi
According to the verbose instruction, the above message is supposed to be why booting failed and should be deleted by holding down the shift key on start up and entering the safe mode to locate the bug and delete but unfortunately, I was unable to carry out this last step cause hold down the shift key on start just didn't work for me. so now I ask, what should I do next to fix this cause I have got loads on work on this mac. I would forever be grateful to anyone with any suggestion on how to fix this.
Thanks

Have you tried rebooting in Recovery mode, erasing the boot HD and installing a new version of OS X? Or do you not have a backup... you could boot into Recovery and just try a 'fresh' installation of OS X, bypassing (if possible) erasing the drive.
Good luck,
Clinton

  • My Macbook pro won't get passed the grey startup screen

My apple macbook pro is not getting passed the gray screen with the apple and spinning circle. I have tried pressing comand-R or shift-command-v, and nothing happens what so ever. I listened to my hard drive, and it sounds fine. It sounds like it is running, and there is no clicking sounds from it or anything, and haven't been any at all. Nothing seems to make it respond

  • Scratched on the back of my MacBook Pro, can I get this fixed with Apple Care?

    Hello community,
today I found out there are some scatches in the back my aluminum MacBook Pro. There is one fairly deep scratch. This has probably happened in my backpack since I use it for school.
My question is: is this something Apple Care will help me fix? If not, how much will it cost to get a completely new back.
    Regards,
    Alwin.

That damage is not covered by AppleCare.

  • My new MacBook Pro can't get an update of iPhoto at the app store

I bought a new MacBook Pro last week and see that the App Store has an update of iPhoto. However there is an error message that says"You can not update this software since you have not owned the major version of this software". I assumed that by purchasing the macbook that I DO own the major version. Any ideas? This must be an error. I have registered my MacBook with Apple with a valid Apple ID.  Thanks for your help.

iPhoto updates through 'software update', not the App Store.

  • Macbook Pro unable to get pass the Log in Screen.

    Hey hope someone can help.
Okay so last night I was using Windows, I shut down, then a few hours later I switched it on to go onto my Mac, but it took forever, I left it though and eventually I got to the log in screen, I entered my password and it was loading then the screen went blue/gray (not sure I think both) and went back into the log in screen again... I did this numerous times before giving up and shutting down. Went to sleep, woke up and resumed this...so I decided to see if I could log into my windows, which it did just fine, I'm on windows typing this right now.
I have run the apple hardware test, extended too, and I have recieved the error code: 4SNS/1/40000000:Th2H-63.000 (No idea what that is)
I have also tried booting from my start up disk that came with my Mac. It gives me the Apple logo on the gray screen then ejects my disc, gives me this long story... kind of goes: panic (cpu 0 caller 0x00431da3):"unable to blah blah... Tells me to restart or shutdown.
I looked at my disc and I think its cracked, So I have to get that replaced.
I think I have to archive and install, I really don't want to lose my music, as I haven't backed it up. 400 songs or so nothing much, I'm not worried about the other stuff as that is all backed up.
Long story short can someone tell me what's going on with my Mac? why am I still able to use windows fine? Has windows done a hit on Mac OS? lol. Is the solution to replace my install disc at Apple? I really don't know, any help would be greatly appreciated thanks, I'm just too tired and can't Google anymore :P
(I have a small partion of 32GB dedicated to Windows Vista.)

"I have run the apple hardware test, extended too, and I have recieved the error code: 4SNS/1/40000000:Th2H-63.000 (No idea what that is)"
Neither do I. Suggest that you take your MBP to an Apple Store or an AASP.
"Is the solution to replace my install disc at Apple?"
Yes. You can get replacement System Install & Restore CD/DVDs from Apple's Customer Support for a nominal S&H fee. *You'll need to have the model and/or serial number of your Mac available.*
Since you're not in the US, you may need to go through the regional Apple Store that serves your location to find the contact number. Here's a list of links to all of those -

  • New macbook pro, can't get past country selection in set up.

What am I missing?  I'm new to using Apple laptops.  Just out of the box, I plugged it in and when I get to the "Welcome" screen it asks what country... I select US and hit enter/return and get a tone.  The arrow buttons do not allow me to do anything either.

Same here... Anyone else having the same problem, use zimzo2's instructions: (use TAB key to cycle through the options then SPACE key to select and get past that screen)
The "return/enter" key and trackpad tapping didn't work for me either. Thanks for posting the solution here.
Update: Just realized that I was tapping and double tapping the MBP trackpad when you need to use the lower-corner of the pad to click. (I'm used to the separate trackpad that accepts tapping anwhere... whoops.)

  • My iMac can't boot Windows 7 From USB while my Macbook Pro can do it

I install Windows 7 64 bit and rEFIt into a USB hard disk and hope to boot from my iMac 27" (2010 Mid). However, it shows that no boot deivce is found.
If I plug the SAME disk to my Macbook Pro 17" (2009 Mid), it can boot Windows 7 without any problem.
I tried with Linux and get same result, iMac says no boot device while my Macbook Pro can boot it without problem.
I tried experiment for weeks and still can't get iMac work.
I think it is very abnormal and I wonder if someone can tell me how to fix it or any directory to solve this problem.

My iMac runs snow leopard and my MacBook pro runs Lion. Both of them are updated with latest updated. I just get one external USB hard disk with Windows 7 32 bit installed and magically, my iMac can boot it from rEFIt. However, I don't know what makes it works. I tried to make same configuration, software and steps on other USB hard disks for hundreds times but I can repeat it again. All other attempt can make USB hard disk boot on MacBook Pro but not iMac only.

For some reason, your Mac doesn't recognise that a keyboard is present, so it looks for a wireless keyboard. The question is, why doesn't your Mac recognise that a keyboard is attached?
First, you need to make sure you remove all peripherals, especially USB peripherals (the keyboard is on the USB bus). Then restart holding down the Shift key. This should boot in Safe mode. If the computer boots normally (not in safe mode) and the keyboard is still not working, try resetting the SMC

If that still doesn't fix the problem, then the keyboard (or its controller) is probably damaged and needs to be replaced.

  • HT5639 if i use boot camp to establish windows on my Macbook pro can i then install a windows program and run it without another software ie parallels?

Can I use a windows program such as QuickBooks on my macbook pro 15inch with only using boot camp or do i need to have another program?

Boot Camp is everything you need to run a Windows application.
Boot Camp allows you to install Windows in a second volume, so you can start up there and run all your Windows apps without needing any Mac OS X app. It's true that OS X apps like Parallels or VMware Fusion allow you to use your Boot Camp partition in Mac OS X, but it looks like you don't want that

  • I can no longer charge my iPhone5 through either of my macbook pros. I get the error message that a USB device is using too much power. Can anyone help?

I can no longer charge my iPhone5 through either of my macbook pros. I get the error message that a USB device is using too much power. Can anyone help?

I reconnected the original powered hub that I thought probably caused the problem and this time it shut down the whole computer. When I rebooted everything now works perfectly. The system reset. I tried another powered hub and it didn't have the same effect so the old one is heading for the bin and with fingers crossed all systems are now working perfectly. Trying to reset PRAM or reset the SMC didn't work but causing the same power issue did. Thanks for your input though. It did get me to think what was the original cause.
    Cheers

    Hi Kurt,
The Mac IIci is not even powering on at all. Tried again with wih a tested power cable and no luck.
I think it's best that take  this issue to the Older Hardware Community. Not only did I see a fair number of replacement parts for the IIci avaiable online, but there also vintage external floppy drives as well. I'm not giving up.
Thank you for your time and interest in helping.

Assuming you have a wireless network at home, just use file sharing. System Preferences / Sharing. Choose a folder you want to share and you're done.
