My macbook pro can't run anymore without charger.
sinds yesterday my macbook pro doens't want to do anything anymore if he is not pluged in with a charger. If my charger is not in my laptop i can't even start up or do this battery test at the side of my laptop. That light in my charger is showing green the whole time which normally means that it is fully charged. And on my screen it self it says that my laptop is not charging at the moment.
can somebody help me with this because at the moment my laptop doesn't really acts like a laptop anymore.

Hey guys! Long time acount-less lurker, first time poster. Go easy on me if I come off as long-winded or nubile, I made an account to post only because I know you guys are a strong, knowledgeable community!
Here are my specs before I get into my problem:
Macbook Pro 13" NON-Retina
Mid 2013
2.9ghz Intel Core i7
16gb corsair RAM @1600mhz
Intel HD 4000 512mb (with that much RAM, shouldn't it be bumped up to at least 1GB???)
512GB SSD
Latest version of Lion
Bootcamp'd Windows 8 Build 9200 (I think)
I bought this computer less than a week ago for college; I am a film major who intends to focus primarily on editing. However, I also enjoying video games, so allocating 100GB of my SSD to Win8 gaming was a no-brainer.
The first game I tried was Far Cry 3. I was expecting it to run perfectly, even at medium settings, but I have to say I was extremely disappointed when I was barely pushing 20-25fps when playing at 800x600 and on the lowest (and practically unplayably ugly) settings. Next game I tried was Dishonored, which I initially put at max settings. It ran considerably well (30-35fps), but, after about 20 minutes of sustained play, it started "jumping." By that I mean the game would continue to run fine, but it would, several times a minute, drop about a dozen frames for no good reason. This would just get worse and worse until I just got frustrated and turned the game off. If I turn the graphics down to the minimum settings, it only takes longer (about 30 minutes) before the fps starts dropping again. Next was Skyrim, which I had seen older, crappier Macbook Pros run at 40-50fps on medium settings on YouTube (meaning that's with FRAPS running too!). Not only was I unable to run the game on anything higher than lowest settings, but the same problem that I had with Dishonored would kick in after about 30 minutes or so! I also tested TF2, which had the same issue pop up in about 5 minutes (at max settings). The only other game I've tried is Dota 2, but I didn't play for more than 5 minutes on max settings, so I probably would have had to play longer for the frames to start dropping.
Needless to say, this *****. It kills all my ambition for PC gaming when all I'm trying to do is get into a game. All of these games are relatively old and not notoriously graphics-intensive (except Far Cry 3, of course). The only pattern I've noticed is that the longer I have my game on, the more likely it is for me to start having fps problems. I even thought it had something to do with when my fans came on/heats levels getting high/CPU throttling, and that might still be an option. I played around with ThrottleStop and SpeedFan but to no avail. Basically, I just want my new MBP to play old games the way it should. Should I try installing Windows 7? Should I play my games off an external SSD? Do I need to figure out how to ventilate my MBP better? Any and all advice is welcome. As much as I love Apple/Mac, and own everything Apple makes,...its not the best platform for gaming nor sold as such. However even my macbook Pro with 8Gig Ram and conventional HD will run HalfLife2 just fine,....and AOEII
I would agree with you that bootcamping WIn8 might certainly be the worst of the two choices, and would have Win7 on it.
However, the games im using are wineskin'd and running in Mac OSX Mountain Lion.
As for gaming, I stay, as I should, off gaming on my Air and Pro, and save the games for my quad core Mac Mini with 16GB
As a productivity platform, even maxed out, I wouldnt consider the Mac pro or Mac Air "gaming" machines,... however my definition of "Gaming" stops at the level of HalfLife2, and my Pro works fine on same

Note the date and time the problem occurred, then go to Applications/Utilities/Console and copy the log starting at the time of the crash. Paste the log in a reply. Please do not use a screen shot as they can be hard to read. If there are repeated runs of the same messages, please post only one run. Be selective about what you post and don’t post huge amounts. Can anyone recommend a portable USB 3.0 drive with hardware encryption, compatible with OSX Mountain Lion and Windows 7. I need it for my MacBook Pro 13”, 2012, running Mountain Lion & Windows 7 Ultimate - BootCamp. I’ve heard that the Buffalo MiniStation Encryption does not work with OSX, is that true..? Since your Mac probably came with 10.4, there is no longer a way to get 10.5 Leopard install media. IF it has the requirements, you may be able to upgrade to 10.6 Snow Leopard by buying the boxed install media at the Apple Store for $30.

Thanks for your help Brij011 - much appreciated. Apologies as I'm a newbie but I've looked at the info for synching and I appear to have all the switches flicked on my iPad. Does the iPad and iBooks only sync in iCloud for purchases as I appear to be doing something wrong. I could sync ok when books was in iTunes but since migrating to Mavericks I think I'm doing something wrong!!

First up, we don't know what kind of MacBook you have so we can't tell you what OS you can run. You can use this instruction to identify which MacBook model you have: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1635. Alternatively, from the Apple menu open "About this Mac". From the window that pops up, click "More Info". This will open the system profiler. Click "Hardware" and locate the model identifier, there.
Next, you need to determine if your system can even run Mavericks before you can go about installing it. These are the requirements:
To install Mavericks, you need one of these Macs:
iMac (Mid-2007 or later)
MacBook (13-inch Aluminum, Late 2008), (13-inch, Early 2009 or later)
MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid-2009 or later),
MacBook Pro (15-inch or 17-inch, Mid/Late 2007 or later)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or later)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or later)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or later)

Your Mac also needs:

Lastly, as you'll note from the above, you can't update to Mavericks (or Mountain Lion or Lion) from 10.5.8. Mavericks is only available in the App Store. You need to be running Snow Leopard (10.6.8) in order to download and install any OS from Lion (10.7) and up. First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive may be failing.
Launch the usual set of applications you use when you notice the problem.
Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the page that opens.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?
Next, select the Disk Activity tab. What approximate values are shown for Reads in/sec and Writes out/sec?
Step 2
You must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way as above. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Post the 50 or so most recent messages in the log — the text, please, not a screenshot.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out before posting. -

What's the year and model number? If you go under Apple menu->About This Mac->More Info->System Report, you can find the model number - something like "MacBookPro8,3".

I would like to copy pictures stored in Events in iPhoto '11 on my iMac to my MacBook Pro which is running iPhoto '09. Is this possible without losing the organization of the Events?
Only way to do it:
Export each Event to folders in the Finder from the iPhoto 11 machine, copy those folders to the 09 machine. Import them.
Apps like iPhoto2Disk or PhotoShare will help you export to a Folder tree matching your Events. -
