My Macbook Pro cannot connect to my Wifi

Hello,
My Macbook Pro has had trouble connecting to my landlord's internet ever since he added a password to it. I tried my cellphone with the password and it connects to it however my Macbook Pro does not. The password I entered is correct and works because the green lights, light up in network settings and the Wifi signal is at top bar on my Macbook Pro. But, no pages load. The blue loading bar goes almost half way and stops. I downloaded all the updates to see if that would be the fix but no it still doesn't connect. Other places like cafes where their is Wifi I have no problems with. It's just at home. My cell on the otherhand is able to connect. So I dont get whats wrong?

  • Macbook pro cannot connect to public wifi

I am running OS X Lion 10.7.2 on a recently purchased Macbook Pro. I can connect to my home network and other family homes just fine, and I can connect to networks where there has been a sign-up process, for example my college wifi and our local leisure centre. But I've found I cannot connect to wifi in areas such as- On trains, in costa/ starbucks (so bt openzone, the cloud etc), and in the Apple store of all places! These I deem to be 'public wifi' and cannot seem to connect to them. I don't get any error messages or anything, my macbook will find the network and show that it had connected, but when I try and open Safari, pages will just not load. Any help appreciated!

That's a problem only your network administrator can solve.

  • Why my MacBook Pro cannot connect to any wifi networks while there was no problem to doing that in the past p?

I used to connect wifi now I cannot. Why? Need to obtain new IP address and how ?

Hi Ole, and a warm welcome to the forums!
It could be a HW problem, but does it get many black bars in the Airport icon?
    See if this helps hers...
    Go to System Preferences
    Click Network
    Highlight AirPort and click Configure...
Choose “By default, join: Preferred networks”
Select her access point(s) and Remove all her access point with the minus button.
Launch her keychain access in Utilities and delete her access point keychain entry.
    Reboot
Go back to the “By default, join:” page and click the plus this time to add your access point. Enter the correct password, save, reboot.

  • Macbook Pro cannot connect to the internet even when others can

Hi! Please help me. We have an internet WIFI connection in our office but only my MacBook Pro cannot connect even when I entered the correct password. My Iphone and Ipad work just fine. It says "connection timeout" but all other laptops can connect. I tried network diagnostics already and it always say "connection timeout". I dont know what to do anymore.

Yes, and when I open the Network Utility it shows a working IP address, and a 54Mb/s speed from the wireless router. It even shows the shared computers from my roomates. But when I try to access the internet it does not load anything on Safari or Firefox ( or any other internet application for that matter). It is completely unconnected. YET, As soon as I activate the AirPort card on the top right where I have my signal strength, it shows on the Network Utility information that there are 'packages' being sent and received, and I have NO programs open what so ever, I have closed everything except finder and network utility... Does this mean I am being hacked, or have some sort of Trojan or something in my computer? I ran an antivirus that my school provided, called Virex by McAfee, it came out clean except it says it cannot read one file.
I tried repairing my disk, and that did not work either. I did the Ram reset like you suggested, but that also did not work. I doubt it being a hardware error. I am going to try to connect it to an ethernet cable to see if that will work. Then I will let you know what happens with that, but that would still not be a solution since I need it wireless, cause the router is in another part of the house.
Thank you for your help, and I hope we can get this sorted out.

  • Hello, my sister her macbook pro cannot connect to our wireless internet. My imac however can, so the problem has to do with her laptop. We were wondering how we could solve this problem? Thank you very much in advance!

We did that, but it just doesn't seem to be able to connect. So basically we tried to connect to our network and insert the password, but afterwards it does nothing. Weird thing is also that the network symbol (top right of the screen) says that it has been connected, but when I go look at the system preferences --> network, it states that it has not been connected

My Macbook Pro cannot connect to the internet using an ethernet cord. It was working fine for weeks, then all of a sudden just stopped. What could the problem be?

  • My MacBook Pro cannot connect to WiFi

         Hi guys.
I have a MacBook Pro 15" which I got about two years ago. I'm using OS Lion 10.7. I didn't had any problems for two years but about a month ago our wifi had a little damage. So we bought another one, the same model. First none of the devices were connected but then our iPads and iPhones did. Then my sisters macbook pro which is the same of mine, got connected. But everytime I try to connect it says "Alert: no internet connection". My Macbook can find the wifi, but it cant connect it. When I open network preferences, It says "Wifi does not have an IP address and cannot connect to the Internet." But my sisters macbook with all same settings with mine can find the IP address! I really need help, Im a student and my homeworks are on websites so I should connect to internet. Hoping for answers .
P.S ( English is not my native language, so sorry for mistakes )

    Wi-Fi Setup Considerations
Things to consider before you begin
Start with a plan for the physical layout. Depending on whether you have an existing Wi-Fi network, or if you are using your AirPort Express as a standalone Wi-Fi device, there are several options available for you to choose from.
When using Ethernet, Cat6 cable is recommended.
The layout you choose should take into account environmental factors such as physical access, location, range, radio frequency interference, etc.
You will need to consider what AirPort Utility settings to adopt.
You will need to know whether you are using an AirPort Express (802.11b/g) or an AirPort Express (802.11a/b/g/n).
If you will be using more than one Wi-Fi base station, it may be helpful to read the article Extending the range of your wireless network by adding additional Wi-Fi base stations.

  • Macbook Pro Cannot Connect to SMTP

I am running a 2010 MacBook Pro with OS X 10.6.8.  I use Mac Mail app to send and receive e-mail.  Since Thursday 27th Dec 2012 I have been unable to send e-mail.  I get the grey spinning wheel until the following error message appears:
The SMTP connection to server “mail.(mydomain).co.uk” failed.
My outgoing mail server is currently showing as offline.  In fact I have 2 e-mail accounts and both are showing as offline.  No problem receiving mail.  Connection doctor connects fine to incoming mail, but not outgoing.
I have tried the following (plus other things) without any success:
Checked all the details, passwords etc
Changed ports from 25 to 465 and 587
Checked my IP address - it is not blacklisted
    Removed and re-added e-mail account
Telnet port 25 - it is not blocked, but appeared to successfully connect (from what I understood from checking www)
    Temporarily disabled firewall
    Re-installed Mac app
    Rebuilt mailbox
    Repaired disk permissions
    Used the repair disk utility
Deselected SSL and changed various options within "Edit SMTP server list"
    Reset the keychain
Tried updating software but it says no update available.
Re-instated an old Accounts.plist (and one other file which I forget, something like com.apple.mail) from time capsule.
I then set up a hotmail account on Mail app but had exactly the same problem, ie cannot connect with SMTP server.
However, I set up my e-mail account on my wife's iPad with the same details and there was no problem at all, e-mail sent just fine as it does from my iPhone.  So the issue has to be with my Macbook, right?  Can anyone help before I go and spent £1250 on a new Macbook?  I'm sure I'm missing something obvious.  Thanks in advance for any advice.

Just FYI, I've had the same problem for months now. I have been accessing my hotmail via the web, but decided to try the OS X Mail app.  I could get emails into the account with no problem but couldn't send.  I read all the blog and support entries and have tried everything they recommended, like changing my computer name to one word, without success.  Then last night, it just so happened that my broadband provider had to change out my wireless modem.  As soon as he plugged in the new one, some emails that had been in my outbasket for a month went through instantly and all of a sudden my Mail, both incoming and outgoing now work.  So I think people need to look at their router settings for the a solution to the problem.

  • Late 2010 MacBook Pro Cannot Connect to Internet

Hello, First time posting a question here.
I have a late 2010 Macbook Pro 15" i5, 2.4Ghz, currently running 10.6.8. At my apartment the provided wifi has been spotty for several months. In the past I have been able to turn off my airport using the dock at the top of my screen, wait a little while (30 seconds or so) and turn it back on. I would get wifi back and then be able to resume to use the Internet.
Recently, however, I have been having extreme issues with connectivity. I will see full bars on the airport display but my dropbox icon (what I use to test connectivity real quick) will keep indicating that I am not connected to the internet. For the past week I was able to get internet with an ethernet cable plugged into the router, ONLY if my airport was turned off.
Now I cannot even get internet through the ethernet cable.
Here are some things I have been able to eliminate.
Bad computer hardware - My computer instantly connects to the wifi at my family home, on campus and where ever I have ever been. I get reliable, un-interupted internet connectivity.
Bad Wifi signal - All other devices (including the ipad I am writing this on) connect immediately to the wifi with no problems with connectivity.
    About my computer:
    OS: 10.6.8
    CPU: intel i5 2.4 GHz
    Memory: 4Gb 1067 MHz DDR3
    About my Router:
    Ubee DWW365 Wireless Cable Modem
    ISP: Charter
I have indeed rebooted my router, but not luck yet.

  • Macbook Pro cannot connect iPhone 3Gs

I'm in Turkey and my carrier supports internet tethering. I tried to connect my iPhone to my MBP via bluetooth. Pairing is successful but when i click "connect" on my MBP, nothing happens. Or I tap my Macbook's name on my iPhone there was this message "... macbook pro is not supported" and iphone forgets device... Is there a solution about this problem?

oh, I'm sorry about the previous information as it was wrong. If you're getting this error, that means that your model of MBP does not support bluetooth tethering. I would suggest trying to tether through wifi as that may result in a better, supported connection.
What model MBP do you have. this is very important information when you are posting about your issues.
