My Macbook Pro does not play sound after i unpluged headphones and no light is on

Hi i have a macbook pro and i like it one day when we were trying to get it to work with our pa system and it went into protect mode so i un-pluged my laptop and no sound was to be heard there are no input and output driver in the sound nothing i tryed everything resterted it reset the pram and no red light is there any help besides going to the genius bar?

See if there are some methods here you havent tried.  These are the only phone numbers and email addresses that I am aware of that are made public by Apple: http://www.apple.com/contact/
Force eject a stuck cd/dvd
First try the normal methods to remove the disc. Drag its icon to the Trash can in the Dock or select 'Eject' from the File menu.
If you are running a virtual machine, e.g. VMFusion, ensure that the CD is disconnected from the virtual machine. This will sometimes allow the CD to now show up in Mac OS X.
Shut down the computer and start up whilst holding down the mouse button. This may take some time, but keep your finger on the mouse button right up until the disc comes out or the log-in screen has appeared.
If you have Toast Titanium installed on your computer, choose EJECT DISC from the menubar.
Sometimes you can successfully use the eject disc button in iTunes even if the disc is not visible to the Finder
Open Disc utility and choose the disc you wish to eject in the left-hand pane, then click on the Eject button.
Some Macintoshes have a paperclip hole that you can insert a straightened paperclip into, manually triggering the eject mechanism.
Open Terminal and type "drutil tray eject" to eject the disc/tray, and "drutil tray close" to close the tray.
If your computer has an eject button on the keyboard, restart the computer holding down the Option key. When the startup disk selection screen appears, let go of the option key and press the keyboard's eject button.

  • New Macbook Pro does not start up after updating...HELP!!!

    Hi,
My new Macbook Pro does not start up after it got updated. The first time I used it, it was perfect. I updated it and restarted it when it told me to but it doesn't boot. It shows an apple and a spinning circle when it turns on but that's it.
    Can somebody please help me?

You should probably post your question in the MacBook Pro discussions:

  • Macbook Pro does not play audio part of video

    Hi,
I have a Macbook Pro (early 2013 with OS 10.10.1).
A colleague sent me a video file, which was originally recorded in MTS format. The sound portion of it does not play on my machine, although it generally can handle MTS. I have a colleague with a Windows PC, for him the audio plays ok. I have another colleague with an older MBP, for him the audio also plays ok. But then I have two more colleagues with a newer MBP like me, and for none of us the audio plays at all. The strange thing is that I can open the file in various editors such as Premiere, Audition, or Logic Pro, and they would all show the waveform of the audio, even the VU meters react normally, but there still is no audible sound.
On the machines that play the sound, we have tried converting the video and exporting the audio portion into various other formats, but with the very same result. None of them play sound for me. This is extremely weird and we have no answer what could be the problem.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks a lot & best regards,
    Rainer

    Hi Eric,
    thanks for the reply.
As I said, we had tried several editors and players, as well as all kinds of formats, using all kinds of converters, but so far to no avail.
The AAC codec is a common codec for the Mac, so there should be no need to convert it. I have videos with that codec that play ok. It already turned out that converting the video file to other formats does not make any difference.
    But thanks anyway,
    Rainer

  • New Retina MacBook Pro does not find WiFi after booting

My Retina MacBook Pro keeps looking for WiFis after it has booted, but does not find any.
I have to explicitly turn WiFi off and on again after booting to get it working.
When I put the MacBook to sleep and wake it, the problem does not occur.
Any hints what could be the problem?

Not sure if this will help, but you can go into System Preferences > Network and, if you haven't already, create a new location (mine is called "home"), then from this location remove all connection methods from the left column except Wi-Fi. Also, click on "Advanced" and remove anything from the Preferred Networks list that you aren't using. Then click on "OK" and "Apply".

  • My Macbook Pro does not come on after powering off.

Lately when I power off my Macbook Pro overnight, it does not power on the next day.  Also, now my background is no longer showing.

    Hi ngros,
Here are some troubleshooting steps for your MacBook Pro not turning on:

  • My macbook pro does not play any cd/dvd

I have a mac book pro and it does not support any cd/dvd. Some time it runs dvd but only voice not video, dont know what to do or how to resolve this issue. I am out of warranty.

You really shouldn't have to use any special driver to use an external drive - that Western Digital makes it (it seems) a necessity just makes me hate WD drives even more. Over the decades, I've had nothing but problems with WD drives and I no longer purchase them.
If I were you, I would simply ditch the WD drive (if it won't mount without using a special driver) and purchase another brand. I can recommend LaCie (using Seagate drive), and G-TECH and HGST (Hitachi) drives.

  • Videos on my macbook pro won't play sound after apple tv was installed in the house

Hi! Need some help... for christmas my dad received the little black Apple TV device to watch videos on our big tv from his iPad. After it was installed no sound came from my macbook, it instead comes out of the tv speakers. When dad is airplaying a video from his iPad and I open a video on my mac, the iPad video gets interrupted and the sound from my video comes on without the visual. What's going on?! I see the airplay symbol on the top right bar but it always says disconnected, yet obviously the sound is somehow connected.

    that figures, VLC.
Consider getting your dad the APP VLC streamer  for his Ipad, that way he can wifi beam movies etc. to his Ipad from any Mac.
removes putting movies on an Ipad and clogging it up with large movie files.  Very handy

  • My macbook pro does not eject dvd although making ejecting noise and tried all non-invasive suggested solutions.

The other night I watched a dvd in my laptop and once i pressed the eject button it made the noise as if it was coming out but it didn't.Now it keep making than noise everytime I attempt to eject but nothing comes out. Since then I tried all the 5 steps suggested on her but I have not been able to get it out.
My machine is 2 months out of warranty and only couple of weeks ago I had the hdd replaced at a cost as it had failed. I am not impressed with all the problems developing shortly after warranty expires.
if the superdrive has failed does any1 know how much it would cost to get it fixed? Any other solutions I could try?
Also I want to make a formal complaint who can I call and send an e-mail to?

  • I am getting no sound on my macbook pro. The sound does not play when I plug in headphones either.  I have tried making it louder quieter, restarting my computer, HELP!

I am getting no sound on my macbook pro. The sound does not play when I plug in headphones either.  I have tried making it louder quieter, restarting my computer, HELP!

There are many possible causes for this issue. Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried.
    1. Start with the steps recommended in this support article. Don't skip any of the steps. It's the starting point for further efforts to solve the problem.
    2. If your model has an audio-out (headphone) port, and anything is plugged in, unplug it before putting the system to sleep.
    3. If you've installed something called "Memory Clean" or any other third-party software that is supposed to "clean" or "purge" memory automatically, remove it according to the developer's instructions and reboot. You should do that even if the software is not causing the problem, because it's useless.
    4. If you've installed an equalizer called "Boom" or anything similar, update or delete it and reboot.
    5. If an AirPlay device is selected for sound output from iTunes (or from other applications via third-party software such as "Airfoil"), deselect it.
    6. Launch the application "Audio MIDI Setup" by entering the first few letters of its name in a Spotlight search and selecting it in the results (it should be at the top.) Select the Output tab. If the Mute boxes are checked, uncheck them. Move the Volume sliders all the way to the right.
    7. If a red light is coming from the audio-out port, the internal switch is stuck in the position for digital output. You may be able to free it by inserting and removing a mini-stereo jack of the proper size. Inserting any kind of tool in the port may cause damage that won't be covered by your warranty.
If there's no red light, the switch may still be stuck in the headphone position. Try to free it the same way.
    8. Disconnect all wired peripherals except keyboard and mouse, if applicable. If more than one display is connected, disconnect all extra ones. Reboot and test.
    9. Boot in safe mode. Don't log in; just reboot as usual when the login screen appears. When you do, make sure the words "Safe Boot" do not appear in the login screen. If they do, the system is still in safe mode and sound won't work.
    10. Reset the NVRAM.
    11. Reset the SMC.
    12. Reinstall OS X after backing up all data. For a possible shortcut, see this thread.
    13. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store.

  • The sound on my Macbook Pro does not work.

The sound on my Macbook Pro does not work.  When we press the volume buttons, the sound icon pops up, but the bar is full with a small "Does not work" circle below it, and nothing happens when I hit volume up or done.  I went into system preferences, but there aren't any options there that I can see to change it.

"Unfortunately, it doesn't provide any help for a MacBook Pro, other than indicating to call Apple Support" (sic).
Au contraire. TS1574's title and affected products are thusly:
"Troubleshooting issues with no audio from built-in speakers on Macs
Products Affected Mac mini, MacBook, MacBook Pro, iMac"
As a result, the instructions of the article are relevant. To be sure, follow those steps, the last of which is to contact Apple.
So, by way of reminder, here are the steps to troubleshoot the audio on your MacBook Pro. There is no red light, so the port is likely fine. Headphones work, so clearly your sound card is fine.
    1. Ensure an incorrect version of OS X is not installed. If one is, then reinstall or erase/install after backing up your data.
    2. Remove any external audio devices from USB, firewire, etc.
    3. Open Sys Prefs > Sound > Output
If Internal Speakers is listed, select it and test again.
If Digital Out is listed, confirm again that all external audio devices and cables have been removed.
If mute is selected, unselect it.
If the volume slider is low, raise the volume.
If the above simply doesn't fix it, the issue may be a corrupted plist. Apple Support might be able to help troubleshoot the issue further, per the last step of TS1574.
I hope it gets resolved for you. Good luck.

My MacBook Pro, does not start after pushing start button. The side bar starts and stops at half way.

    Hy myneck,
Happy Holidays!  The resource below may provide some steps to try if your MacBook Pro won't start.
Troubleshooting: My computer won't turn on - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/TS1367
This article discusses what to do if your Mac won't turn on. To differentiate this from a display issue, be sure that when you press the power button:
You don't hear a startup chime.
You don't hear any fan or drive noise.
There is no video on your built-in or external display
If your computer has power but doesn't display any video, it may have one or more of these similar symptoms when you press the power button:
You may hear a startup chime.
You may hear fan or drive noise.
You may see a light from the Sleep LED (if your Mac has one).
Pressing the Caps Lock key on the keyboard causes it to light.
If any of these display-related conditions occur, see Troubleshooting: My computer has no video instead. Otherwise, continue with this article.
If your computer won't turn on, try each of these steps:
Verify you have a good connection from your Mac to the wall outlet by confirming the power cord and adapter if present are securely connected and plugged in. To check if the wall outlet is working, plug in a lamp or other electrical device.
If the wall outlet is working and you continue to have no power try another power cord or adapter if available. If it works you may need a replacement cord or adapter.
Note: See Apple Portables: Troubleshooting MagSafe adapters for further troubleshooting with MagSafe adapters.
Disconnect all accessories that are plugged in to the computer, such as a printer, hub, or other mobile device.
If your Mac supports user-installable memory, solid state drive, or hard drive, and you recently installed any of these, make sure they are installed correctly and are compatible with your computer. If possible, reinstall the original memory or drive into the computer to find out if the behavior persists afterwards.

After moving my music library from my old mb to the new one, my new mb pro does not play the files evenly. It takes a break for two sec's and starts playback where it stopped. Ideas anyone?

I may have found an answer here:
    http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/moving-your-itunes-library-to -a-new-hard-drive
They only thing I can assume is that my external hard drive was slow to start and iTunes defaulted to its old directory (see the last paragraph at the link above). However, once my external was recognized shouldn't everything have fixed itself?
