Try a #1 SMC Reset and see the Apple links, if that doesn't work make a appointment for a evaluation.

Make sure it is charged for about 10min using the adapter, then connect in recovery mode, explained in this article:

  • MacBook Pro doesn't turn on for any reason

I've got a Mid-2008 (Unibody) MacBook Pro. The battery has always been iffy, so I had it constantly plugged in. I recently made the mistake of letting it run out of battery, and now it's not starting, no matter what I do.
To be clear, I have no LED indicator light, no noises, no startup chime, no nothing. I've attempted to follow the instructions here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1367?viewlocale=en_US
I reset the SMC, and it did nothing. The only indication of a sign of life is when I press the battery level indicator button on the side, it shows that the battery is fully charged.
I tried plugging it in and removing the battery, and that didn't help. I attempted to start it without being plugged in, nothing, etc.
Are there any more things I can try?

Make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar.  They will diagnose your MBP for free and then you will; be in a position to make an informed decision.
    Ciao.

  • My MacBook Pro will not turn on, bought a new charge still no power, My MacBook Pro will not turn on, bought a new charge still no power

My MacBook pro will not turn on bought a new charger and it still will not turn on

Then your problem isn't with the charger/adapter. Which model MacBook Pro do you have (e.g., "15-inch Late 2011")?
It's likely that you'd be best served by taking your machine into your local Apple Store or AASP and having the Apple techs run diagnostics. The diagnosis and estimate to repair should be free.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Why does my 4s keep returning tot the boot screen (apple logo) when I press the home button to see the lock screen?

3 or 4 times since I first fired up my iPhone 4S yesterday, it has displayed the boot screen (apple logo) when I press the Home button to display the lock screen. After 10-20 seconds the phone displays the lock screen, but at that point it has to search for a cell signal (as if the phone just booted up), which takes another 20-30 seconds.
Is anyone else having this issue?
Another thing that has happened only once, but that seems related, is that when I clicked the lock button on the top of the phone, the phone displayed the spinning circle that usually displays when an iPhone or iPad is shutting down.
Any ideas on what MIT be causing this?

Disk repair hasn't worked as well.
I just wanted to add a quick observation: after I tried the TM restore for the first time, Safe Boot in verbose mode seems to be stuck at this line "VBoxAdpDrv: version 3.1.0 r55467". This may point to the problem being a Virtual Box problem.
I use Virtual Box extremely rarely - haven't used it in many months. After a re-install, I'm going to remove it and then try the upgrade. If it works, then we've probably found the culprit. If it is real, Apple should maybe add a line saying Virtual Box known to cause problems with this upgrade (or fix it ).

  • MacBook Pro doesn't turn on after Win8 bootcamp installation

    Hi,
I have installed Windows 8 on my MacBook Pro Retina 15,7" 500Gb 16GbRAM with the Bootcamp assistant. After that, i lowered the screen (like if i wanted to go on repose mode) and then, my mac doesn't turn on anymore.
All in black, no grey screen but the charge seems to work (the Green LED turns on when i connect it on the electricity, this is the only sign that something is still "alive" there)
Thank you all for the help!

Its coming today, but i am just wondering if this is normal for macbook pro not to turn on randomly?

  • MacBook Pro doesn't turn on at all

Hello, I am Luixituh, and I am in a terrible situation with my MacBook Pro, the thing is that I have been using it very happily since yesterday I went to use it and I pressed the power button to turn on, but absolutely nothing happened. I tried to check if the battery was dead or not, by pressing the battery status indicator, on the side of the MacBook Pro, it was reported as full, but just to make sure I plugged in the Apple MagSafe charger, it behaved normally until I pressed the power... As you guys know, when you press the power, the fan and HD should start working and the white light in front of the computer should light up, to say it was on, but the thing is that it didn't do any of that nor booted since yesterday, when I found the non-turning on problem...
So these are the symptoms, if you have suggestions feel free to share them, or if not I will just go to the Apple store, thanks in advance for your help, and I hope you know that this impairing my work and that I am really worried about this situation.
    The most kind regards:
    Luixituh

    Dear Luixtuh,
What version of the MBP do you have? The last of the MBPs with silver keys (Late 2007 and Early 2008) have a potential fault with the video chipset that can lead to failures. Please see this Apple Repair Extension Program:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2377
If the proper model (applies only to those with the nVidea 8600M GT chipset) and the computer fails a test the Apple Store can perform, you qualify for a free repair for up to four years from date of purchase.
It does not apply to any MBPs that have the newer black keyboard.

  • Macbook pro doesn't turn on after full charge?

Hi, I bought used macbook pro yesterday from ebay. The macbook arrived clean in a secure box, i turned it on and it worked stright from there. I used it on battery for like 4 hours and then i shut it down and put it on  charge and went to work. When i came back and i saw the battery was fully charged. i unplugged the macbook pro and tried to power it on. The macbook pro didn't respond, no light, no chime, no hard disk noise and no white screen!!
It just made me so much worried and started looking over the net. I found out some reset options and tried but invain. After all this i was so much  stressed that i tried to contact the seller. The seller said he had it for about two years and never had any problem like that.
However I tried to power it up in morning and it just powered up and worked flawlessly. My question is what could have went wrong there?? I'm just worried if that problem is gonna come back again and again. I never had this sort of problem on my Vaio laptop. Is there anything that i dont understand about macbook or be cautious about??
However I must confess, I used 60W megsafe charger but only when my laptop was switched off and I was aware not to run it on 60W charger.
    Thanks,
    Adnan

  • My macbook pro doesn't turn and has a black screen.  Fan is running though. Does anyone know what to do?

Does anyone have any advise when a Macbook Pro doesn't boot and has a blank screen?  The fan is running but there are no backlights working.

Depending on your model MBP, see Article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2377 MacBook Pro: Distorted video or no video issues These computers were manufactured between approximately May 2007 and September 2008
If you are under warranty and/or have AC, give them a call.
Out of warranty, take your MBP to your local AS and/or AASP.

  • MacBook Pro won't turn on and won't charge

My MacBook Pro will not turn on and it appears to not charge. my charger blinks a orange light when I plug it in but the light is very dim. any suggestions?

Bring it to an authorized service center and have them try one of their chargers on it.  If the charger doesn't work, then have the battery replaced.  If the battery being replaced doesn't charge, replace the power supply.

  • Macbook Pro does not turn on, service battery

Heres the backstory. One day, my mac simply wouldnt turn on. No video, no chime. Just one indicator light turns on, then turns off a few seconds later. then turns back on. After that happened, I brought my laptop to school the next day and plugged my friends charger into my computer and it worked. I got home and used it as a desktop for a while keeping it charged and plugged in. Then I needed it for school, so I unplugged it, and it couldnt come on again, exacty like before, just the indicator light coming on and off. i brought it home and charged it to full again, and it turned on, but it only worked if it was charged. if the charger led was green, it would work but if it was orange, it wouldnt. When it did work, under the battery status read "Service Battery." So I used it as a desktop, and then it froze, i force shutdown and now, even though charged, does the indicator light thing.
tl;dr, when i press the power button, nothing happens except the indicator light turning on then off then on again. Not sure if it is problem with charger, or my "Service battery," All i know is that when i use my friends charger it works, but mine gives the problem stated above. Worked for a while when charged to 100%, now doesnt.
MBP 7,1 33 months old tried smc resets, pram resets, didnt work.
    Any help is appreciated, thanks.

OS X is telling you that the battery isn't working, so it has to be replaced. When you see "Service Battery", it means that your battery has to be replaced.
In Early 2008 and older MacBooks Pro, you can buy the battery at the Apple Online Store and replace it yourself. If you have a newer MacBook Pro, take your MacBook Pro to an Apple Store or reseller to have the battery replaced.
It's normal that batteries fail after years because their capacity goes down with charges

  • HT3964 Macbook pro won't turn on and won't charge

Hi. I just bought a macbook pro 13" last year August. Unfortunately just today when i used it and plugged my iPad to sync, it shuts down unexpectedly. Then i tried charging it as i thought it maybe because the battery is out but no. The charger won't work as well. I borrowed my cousin's charger yet it still dont work. My charger is working eventually to my cousins mac. Anyone who can help me? I tried SMC but it doesnt work. I need my MAC.

You need to take your machine into your local Apple Store or an AASP and have them run diagnostics on it. Sounds as if you've a hardware failure.
    Sorry,

  • Macbook Air screen stayed black when coming out of sleep

I put my MBA on sleep earlier today. When I came back to wake it up, the screen stayed black (but somehow backlit). I had to close the top and open it back again in order to wake it properly. Anyone knows what happened? Should I worry about this? Maybe it's nothing and I'm overreacting, but I had so many issues with my last laptop (not an Apple product though) that I kinda became crazy about my computers.
My Macbook Air is two weeks old. It's a 11 inches running Maverick 10.9.5 and every software is updated.
    Thanks!

Having something like that happen just once is no reason to be concerned. I’ve seen it happen - it isn’t common and it doesn’t necessarily mean anything is wrong. Being hyper sensitive about a new computer is normal, especially after experiencing the kind of disaster it sounds like you did with your previous computer.

  • Screen stays black when I turn my iBook on, no response. HELP

I really hope someone can help me with this cause the laptop in question belongs to someone else and I'll be in a tough spot if I don't fix this...
So I've been borrowing this G4 iBook. I've installed some software, including some "whois" programs from the internet. I've also been downloading torrents via Transmission. Anyway, this is what happened:
I was downloading a torrent, and I had Safari open. I began to transfer a movie to the Apple-TV system I have when things started running slowly--so I went to the energy savings panel and optimized the processor for highest performance. Things kept running slowly so I began to quit programs. Finally I had only the Apple-TV transfer open but the Finder wasn't responding (rainbow wheel).
I tried to relaunch the Finder by force-quitting but no response. I then tried to restart, no response. So finally I held down the power button to shut the computer off. Now when I turn it on I hear the start up sound but the screen remains black. I think the keys are unresponsive too cause I tried pressing the power button and pressing 'return' to see if it would restart or shutdown. Nothing. I mentioned that I've been downloading some software and torrents for the off-chance that I have a virus. I have a Norton Antivirus CD if I need it. I don't know what to do though.
I'd really appreciate some help here. It would save me the embarrassment of having to take the laptop to get repaired.

Very Important, how much Free Space is on your Hard Drive first of all? Click on the Macintosh HD on the Desktop, then do a Get Info on it.
    See if this works...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
