I just bought an iPod nano 7th Generation. When i connect it to my laptop, it doesn't recognize the ipod. I tried charging it but when I hold the power button, nothing happens. I don't want to have to return it. Please help me!
Hi dnix257,
Welcome to the Support Communities!
What version of the Windows Operating System do you have?
What version of the iTunes software?
The troubleshooting steps below may help you with this:

My laptop won't turn on when I push the power button, just light on the caps lock key blinking
my laptop hp mini 311-1002TU suddenly hang, and can't to respon anyting from user, then I shut it down by force by pressing the power button, but when I tried to turn it on again, my laptop does not turn on, just the lights in his caps lock blinking, please help to resolve this problem, thanks.
I would suggest keep trying to turn it on and get the blue screen error code to maybe a get clue of precisely what the issue is. Ultimately, the processor likely needs to be replaced in most of these 1-blink situations.
If you have experience taking a laptop apart, here is a link to the Maintenance and Service Guide for your model. Removal and replacement procedures begin in Section 4.
Otherwise, I would recommend taking it to a local repair shop because they may have processors and/or other parts that they can swap in and out to determine if the processor is actually bad or not. -
My laptop won't turn on when I push the power button.
I tried the hard reset with and without the new battery in it. I left the battery out for 5min, them held the power button in for about 90sec. The power light and hard drive lights come on briefly the shuts off with a small click sound. I have a HP compaq presario F756nr with Vista home premium. Was working ok a day ago. The light around the AC plug lights up blue, and the charge light flashes when the AC charger is plugged in. HELP

My laptop won't turn on when I pushed the power button what should I do?
When I tried turning on my laptop it wouldn't turn on . I even tried the trick with taking my battery out but It still doesn't turn on . What should I do?!
Hello Genesis_Mariee, welcome to the HP Forums.
It appears that you're notebook isn't power on. I will try to assist you with this.
When attempting to turn on the notebook, do you get any response from it? Any beeps, noises, lights?
What's the model and product numbers for your notebook?
What's the currently install operating system?
I would suggest starting with the following document(s):
Computer Does not Start (Windows 7, Vista, XP)
Computer Does Not Start (Windows 8)
Follow the one specific to your operating system. Please let me know how this goes for you.
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.

MacBook wont start and beep "S-O-S" when I push the power button
My wife's MacBook suddenly quit. Was working fine one day and dead the next. Screen is black. No keys work. Light on charger is green, so battery seems to be charged. White light on front is steady and not pulsing as it normally does. When I press the power button the computer beeps S-O-S in Morse code. What's wrong? Can I fix it myself? Can the Genius Bar fix it or is it dead for good? I'm sorry, I don't know what OS it's running (because it won't turn on ...) Thanks!!
Your MacBook definitely needs service. Contact Apple using expresslane.apple.com if you are in a country that supports it or call the appropriate phone number on this page. Alternatively carry the MacBook in to an Apple retail store or service provider to ask for an estimate.

After pushing and holding the power button on my Mac the apple screen comes on and after a few seconds there is a loading bar that tries to load something for a few seconds then it shuts down. I would say it is approximately 45-50 seconds after pushing the power button. Power comes on then shuts right off. This all originated when I tries to log in as a different user. It froze for a while, then I shut down the computer with the power button. Because I couldn't so it from the apple icon on the desk top
Could be many things, we should start with this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive & clear caches.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
If 10.7.0 or later...
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions. -
My computer MacBook pro want turn on it started when input the lion ultimate versión it straus in the white screen with the Apple and the circle ten it goes off

My MacBook Pro screen turns off when I open the lid!
This has been driving me nuts, and also apparently Apple as well.
When my MacBook Pro is connected to a power adapter, if I close the lid it sleeps like a good little Mac. When I open the lid, the display comes on instantly. Then after about a second, it goes black. The LED backlight turns off. I can get it to come on using either of two ways: 1) touch either of the brightness buttons, or 2) remove and replace the power connector.
Now, here is the weird part: it only seems to do it when I am logged in as me. If I login as guest, it doesn't happen. That would seem to imply it is something about my profile that causes it to happen. So I whacked ~/Library/Preferences and it still happened. So where is this particular bit of nastiness hiding?OK, so I think I solved my issue. It was caused by the system not going to sleep (The screensaver thing was a dead end).
When I ran the console app pmset, I got something like this:
➜ ~ pmset -g assertions
12-06-29 9:11:06 AM EDT
Assertion status system-wide:
PreventUserIdleDisplaySleep 0
CPUBoundAssertion 0
DisableInflow 0
ChargeInhibit 0
PreventSystemSleep 1
PreventUserIdleSystemSleep 0
ExternalMedia 0
DisableLowPowerBatteryWarnings 0
EnableIdleSleep 1
NoRealPowerSources_debug 0
UserIsActive 0
ApplePushServiceTask 0
The process that was causing PreventSystemSleep to be 1 was "org.cups.cupsd" which is the print service. So I checked all my printers, one of them was "In Use". When I opened it, there weren't any jobs listed. I went through the options and selected Jobs > Show Everyone's Jobs and sure enough there was a job there. I deleted it and everything seems to work now.
The odd thing is that print job was probably from my other account which didn't seem to have this screen problem. Anyway, I hope this helps anyone out there.... -
While searching the internet last night my Macbook pro froze up and would not respond to anything. I restarted the computer and now the computer will not ecen start up. It will go to the gray screen with the apple sign. It is there working for 10 seconds and finally shuts down again. Any ideas how to get the computer to come back to life?

HT3964 macbook pro early 2008 does not respond to the power button
I bought a second hand mbp early 2009.
All seemed well when I tested it prior to buying.
But, now 2 days later, the mbp is completely dead.
In the past 2 days I had sudden power-downs (suddenly switching of completely).
First I thought it was the battery, which I overlooked when buying. But now I fear it is more serious!
It did work. And it worked like a charme. I even upgraded the os to mountain lion.
But now I cannot get it to work at all
Any help? Please...Shootist007 wrote:
Right if the Nvidia chip fails completely it takes the complete computer down with it. No start no sign of life.
If after reading the Apple arcticle I link to and if you did a little research on the failures you may of figured that out for yourself.
Google Baking a Apple Mac Logic board or Fixing MBP 2008 Nvidia chip failures.
You wrote:
"I say did, because I already swapped it.".
What does that mean, you lost me.
As for your comment on how bright I may be, I'm bright enough to know not to buy a 3 or 4 year old Mac notebook.
Good Luck.
I swapped de mb for another one. the person that sold it to me took it back.
contrary to most people I do not sneer at other people. My remark at the end is pure an observation. What you make of it, is your doing, not mine.
I buy a second hand mb simply because I need a portable, but cannot affort a new one (for the moment).
there is nothing wrong with a 3 year old mb, apart from that it is 3 years old. of course there is a higher risk of failure. that is (partly) why the price is lower.
