My MacBook Pro encounters an error when partitioning for loading windows using Bootcamp Assistant. I deleted the partition that was there in order to upgrade to Bootcamp 5 but now I am struggling to get Bootcamp 5 to complete the job. Help please.

I am struggling to Partition my MacBook Pro using Bootcamp 5, can someone help, please. I previously had successfully loaded Windows 7 running Bootcamp 4 on the same machine. When I upgraded to Windows 8 I started encountering problems. My trackpad would not work and it required me to load Bootcamp 5" as I was running 32 bit this is not supported by Bootcamp 5 I had to completely delete the previous partition, but now I can't repartition as it goes halfway and says an error has been encountered and Bootcamp cannot partition this drive.
I do not know how to defragment the drive in Apple as I can in windows nor can I clean it up to maybe get everything in neat clusters, maybe somebody can help me solve this problem.

Sorry Bobthefisherman, this was not helpful. I had already gone through these pages before coming to you. What I have discovered however is that when Bootcamp Assistant deleted the partition, it did not create a single volume but created three partitions instead which maybe the reason why it cannot create the new part ion parameters I am asking it crate. So I took it to the geniuses at Apple who suggested that I reformat the drive and reload everything again! and this might solve the problem. We'll all know whether this is helpful once it finishes the formatting of the hard drive. This process is taking a very long time to complete so I am leaving it overnight for it to complete. I will keep you updated on progress. I am also told that Apple is struggling with Windows 8 drivers and I may not be able to use that, so I am going back to Windows 7 even though I was beginning to like windows 8 very much.

    Hold on,
Have you talked to your carrier to confirm the unlock?
What was the procedure you did to unlock the phone?
Standard unlocking procedure once processed by the carrier:
    Backup in iTunes
Erase the phone (ignore restore terminology here)
Plug the phone to the computer and then launch iTunes
    Wait for unlock notification.
    Restore the backup.

On slide No. 13 of my Keynote presentation, I have varous pictures that go through automatically just as I programmed them, but if I I want to get by clicking to the next slide , it does not let me. How can I program so when I want goes to next slide?

Keynote is programmed to execute all of the effects in a build sequence before it will move to the next slide.
If you want tobe able to move to the next slide at any time in a sequence of builds, you will need to set all of the builds on that slide to:  "on click". You will then need to execute each build by pressing the space bar or click the left mouse button for each object.

There is no BIOS in OS X. There is only the EFI stored in ROM that is not user modifiable. OS X is probably checking Bay 0 for the boot drive since that is where it should be. It won't check the Tempo drive since it is treated like an external drive. I suggest you open Startup Disk preferences to see if the Tempo device is selected as the boot device. If it isn't, then select it. That will probably shave off a few seconds in the startup time.

Chrome 'syncs' your information to its servers, so you can restore this information when you sign into your account, regardless of what device you are using. As for the latter part of your comment, I am not really following. I don't have Chrome currently installed on my machine so I can not help you step by step. All I know is you must SIGN IN to your google account on chrome and check the chrome preferences.

Macbook pro 3.1 OS 10.6.8, error when saving monitor calibration profile.  Tried to name new profile, or save as an older profile, still got error when attempting to save.

Try a NVRAM reset, and then go through the monitor calibration again.
    Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the third time.
    Release the keys.

  • Macbook pro wireless stop responding when s/pdif port in use

Macbook pro 15 i7 user here. Have anyone experience the same issue as me? how do i resolve this issue?
it stated airport detected wireless but it just dont issue DHCP ip address out. using VLC to run mkv video format.
video runs fine however not the wireless.:(

I'm guessing you mean that the computer is not receiving a DHCP address, rather than that it is not sending one, when outputting sound through the optical "side" of the sound out port ? Or do you mean that you are using your MBP as a de facto wireless base station and DHCP server for other devices, and that they are not receiving addresses from it when you have the MBP hooked up through the optical digital component of the sound out port?
Winthur> sorry, i should say my MBP is not RECEIVING an ip address. my bad
My MBP is connected to MyHome network but not getting an ip from my direct router when connecting through wireless; when i am using S/PDIF connection from the MBP combo 3.5mm jack to my digital z5500 speaker.
Do things (whichever you intend) work normally when using the sound out port's analogue mode?
Winthur> All things work great (the S/PDIF digital sound out via VLC) ACCEPT that i cant surf net(when my S/PDIF port in use movie playing via VLC or whichever prog). it just dont get any ip, it got a self assigned ip instead. (rem the airport is connected in yellow state)
Is there any possible that the equipment you are outputting the optical signal to itself is producing interference in the relevant wireless spectrum, either because of proximity to your wireless router or the MBP (if it is the router itself in this case) , or, possibly, simply poor shielding on whatever router you happen to be using?
Winthur> i am not sure of this but i am not using any wireless speakers and such. it is a direct Toslink cable (with one end 3.5mm converter) to my z5500 speaker. oh 1 tricky issue i notice is, i do have a HP AP connected to my WRT160N v2 router port. so when i switch the failed wireless connection to connect to internet via this HP AP (from MyHome network to MyAP network SSID), it work.(manage to grab an ip and connect to internet.) but when i switch back to connect wirelessly to my direct router (MyHome network), it failed gettng ip again. Both scenerios are with S/PDIF VLC in use with movie playback)
If you aren't using the MBP as the router itself (ie. your problem is scenario 1 in my first paragraph) then what brand of router is it, and what sort of wireless protocol and security are you using?
Winthur> using WRT160N v2 with 2.0.02 firmware. i know there is a new firmware out there 2.0.03 but is there really a possibility of firmware issue? i tried to flash once and the whole router went dead. manage to revive though. wireless protocol i am not sure but the security is WEP. both my router and my HP AP uses WEP
(Sorry about that rather prolix set of questions! I guess, fundamentally, I'm asking for more information about just what your set-up is here, and just what the problem is! )
Winthur> Glad you ask as i dont know what kind of info i should give to ask for help. in the nutshell:
    -i have a WRT 160N V2 firmware 2.0.02 router.
-i have a HP AP connect to this router.
    -Router SSID is MyHome network
-HP AP SSID is MyAP network
    -both uses WEP
-both network can be "interswitch" without problem in surfing the internet without S/PDIF in use
-problem in getting IP from MyHome network (airport turns yellow) when S/PDIF in use
-Switch to MyAP with S/PDIF in use no problem.
-when S/PDIF unplugged, switch to MyHome network, can be use again.
    appreciate your prompt reply.
    Best Reg
    Winthur.

  • I was the person with the curser that was skipping backwards and typing my words backwards. Now it won't let me choose options when I'm trying to reinstall.

Okay. I was given the advice to make sure I had the latest Java. So I uninstalled all versions of Java. Reinstalled latest version of Java 6 update 23. Tried to reinstall Mozilla Firefox and got as far as the box that says: Import wizard settings and data. The curser bounces back and forth from the options microsoft internet explorer and don't import anything. It won't let me choose. It just keeps bouncing back and forth from those two options. Should I just click "next"? Thanks. DC

Wow that was really quick, thank you so much.  Im not sure at all which version it was because i said it was around 4 years ago he bought it.  I know it isn't under his username, since he's a PC person (ugh) so i know its probably registered to one of our actual names.  isn't there some way to look it up since we did register it, because I'm not even sure where the disks are from when we bought it (we've moved a lot and also have two storage lockers, i know i would have kept it with other disks) but my cd rom drive is actually broken on my computer as well ( i think it got stepped on and is now squished and won't eject or run disks.)
So is there anyway they can look up that its registered to one of our names since we did register it when we bought and installed it, or do i really have to find the disk with some sort of proof of purchase (i know there would be no receipt after all this time)
either way, ill do what you suggested to the best of my abilities and thank you so much for answering my questions, i can't even open the program as its incompatible and find out the info from that) so I'm in a bit of a pickle and your response was so thorough and it didn't seem to be posted long enough to even write a well researched response, thanks, all the best,
    sarucia

I've seen this on a few of the Surface Pro 3's we got in recently. It is because you need to update the date/time in the OS. The easiest way to do this is to
    (1) Make sure you have command support enabled in your boot image.
    (2) Before you start your image process from the boot image, press (Fn + F8)
    (3) At the command prompt, check your date/time.
    (4.a) Type cd x:\windows\system32
(4.b) Type date the current date is displayed, it's most likely off. It will prompt you to change the date using the mm-dd-yy format, change to the current date there, press enter

Excellent advice!!! For me, even though I had already booted the OS on my SP3, fully updated the firmware and restarted about 6 different times, I still would get a failure when the Boot image started to load. I followed these instructions and I was good to
good. I'm just floored to see that my date and time were off by 3 days and 11 hrs, even though my OS was correct. I'm flabbergasted that this was the case. Thanks for the post! Helped me a lot!

  • I used to be able to use a dropdown calendar that was embedded in an application to backdate data and now I can't This has just changed within the last 3 weeks. What can I do to get it to work again? I think this happened when there was a Firefox update.

The application was created by someone in my school district, and they built it for use in Internet Explorer. When you click on the pop out calendar, you should be able to choose for what date you want to fill in data. Last year it didn't work, this school year it did up until around the week of Oct. 17th. It hasn't been able to work since. I am wondering what has changed- the district says nothing has changed on their end.

I tried running Firefox in Safemode and still have the problem. I cannot view my emails.

  • My ipad 2 is locked in the outbox of the email, I was trying to send picture and video attachments.  Now I can't even get to my inbox.

My ipad 2 email is stuck in the outbox and it will not send emails, it started when I attached pictures & vidoes, now nothing will send.  I can't even get out of the outbox to get to my mail.
    Please advise

What happends when you press the Home button?  If nothing, try resetting your iPad by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
