My macbook pro fell :(

my macbook pro fell from my bed on hard wood floor now it won't turn on and it makes loud noises like "beep, beep, beep....beep, beep, beep.... beep, beep, beep,...etc." (always three times every time.) please help me. thanks you.

Also, you will have to pay for any repairs yourself.  Dropping your mac with damage resulting does not qualify for free repair under Apples warranty...although it sounds like your ram may have come unseated.  Open up the bottom of your mac and make sure the ram modules are seated.  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1547

macbook pro fell into sleep mode. empty battery. does not start anymore. even with power supply. led light blinkin continiously 1sec. sound of harddrive like starting but it does not start. any help?

I agree with you 110%. It is a fools game to do updates and especially OS upgrades without a good backup.
So are you up and running now? I hope so! Nothing more frustrating than to have problems. I did a clean install of my Mac Mini and it has taken me all day to get it back up to full form. I did an upgrade of my MacBook Pro and it was simple, but I am finding some little glitches here and there that I didn't have with my clean install. Things like email passwords not being remember, not able to access my google contacts and calendar without it telling me I am not logged into MobileMe. None of these issues are happening with my clean install. Oh well I'll eventually get it figured out.

  • Macbook pro fell and won't start up

Last night my macbook pro fell from the table, it didn't look damaged on the outside, put it to sleep and went to sleep myself. This morning i opened it up and the rainbow wheel ket spinning whatever I did. Restarted it and same thing. I tried all the possible options suggested, different keyboard combinations at start up. Verified the disk using the original cd but by hard disk won't mount, i see the hard disk icon on the top left pane but if i click on it, i read not mounted on the bottom part of the panel. Tried disk utility starting the mac on retrieve mode and says "disk can't be repaired". Now if i shut down the mac and start it up again the apple logo appears and the gear keep spinning but nothing happens. Any idea what might have happened? It was working fine before yestarday. Lion os installed.
I also would like to backup the data on time machine but can't since the mac won't start up. Any suggestion?
    Thanx

Take it to your local Genius Bar. They will be able to diagnose it there, and offer a solution.

  • Help! My macbook pro fell out of my bag on to asphalt!!

My macbook pro fell out of my bag on to asphalt and kinda pushed in the rubber feet, top left , near the power port. It was in a foam kind of case which protected it somewhat. except for the top left corner, which has a hole in it. That hole scared me cause apparently the fall was hard enough to slice the material. MBP seems to be working fine though it is wobbly now cause of the pushed in feet. I worry though, if there are internal problems. Could pushed in feet affect the inside. also, if i bring it in to an apple store for them to check, will they void my warranty? My MBP is less than a months old!

Anything is possible after such an event, but the damage may not be something a tech can see.  Your machine could, unfortunately, stop working at any point, requiring costly repairs to get it working again.  Or it could keep working in this condition for years.  There's no real way to know.  Just keep using it, make sure to maintain a very good set of frequently-updated backups, and don't worry about it until you have to.

Sounds like something internal was damaged in the fall, probably the disk drive. Take to Apple and ask them to fix it.

  • My 2012 MacBook Pro fell and it now makes a clicking noise and shows a grey screen on startup. I'm afraid the hard drive is damaged. Is their anyway to still back up my hard drive even if it doesn't turn on all the way?

So my late 2012 MacBook Pro was sitting on my desk when the desk collapsed. The computer fell with it and I was quite scared at the moment, but thankfully I opened it up and it worked perfectly fine again.
I was later watching a YouTube video and pressed the back button. The screen then froze, and I could not force quit safari. Then this weird clicking noise started to happen. It was coming from the right of the trackpad. That's when I decided to force shutdown the computer with the power button.
I let it sit and then decided to turn it back on. The clicking noise then came back and there was just a blank screen on the boot up. Eventually a grey folder with a question mark started flashing on the screen. That was all it did so I decided to turn it off again.
I'm going to take it into the Apple store ASAP, but I'm curious if my hard drive is damaged and if I will need a new one, which would erase everything on my Mac. So I was wondering if there is anyway to back up the hard driver even if it doesn't boot up all the way, or turn on the computer all the way.
P.S. I have never backed up my hard drive so I wouldn't know what to do.

You may have damaged the HDD which is located in that spot. I would take it in for service.

  • My macbook pro fell and now it won't boot - superdrive issue?

    Hi everyone,
I had a dreadful accident today. My macbook pro (mid 2007) model fell from the table; the lid opened up a little bit but thankfully the display wasn't damaged. The thing is that it won't boot; the screen remains black. The superdrive makes continuously this noise it does when the mac wakes from sleep or boots, and the boot process doesn't go any further. I have already reset its BIOS cache by removing the battery, but with no success.
Anyone familiar with this type of problem? Any chance it is coverable with applecare?
    Thank you in advance,
    -- ernani

It's hard to diagnose but you do have a problem. Take it to an Apple store or AASP and have them diagnose your damage. And, no AppleCare does not cover user accidents. Check with your homeowners insurance.

  • Macbook pro fell from the dining Table

    Hi guys
My daughter just dropped my macbook pro from the dining table to the floor .
The Macbook was on at the time when it fell, i quickly picked it up, but heard noises coming out from near the DVD drive.
Since then the macbook is really slow, takes ages to start and keeps processing constantly.
Browsing is slugglish! there is a delay in typing and browsing using mouse etc.
Having read some posts already, i am begining to think that its the hard disk that seems to have gone.
I tried running some hardware, but it froze after 59 secs so had to restart again.
Can someone please help me in terms of checking or what i could do to  just ensure that its the hard disk and nothing else? Since this is accidental damage, which isnt covered under the warranty, can someone advise which HD would be best to replace it with? what does apple use?

Instead of running the Repair Disk routine in Disk Utility, you can start up in Single User Mode and run fsck:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1417
That will repair the hard drive directory if the drive is in good mechanical order, possibly resolving the ballkiness mentioned in your first post. If the drive has suffered any damage in the fall, directory and file corruption may return quickly. I recommend backing up the hard drive ASAP if the machine will run long enough to do it.
You can try running Apple Hardware Test without the Applications disc. If you have a unibody MBP and your hard drive has never been reformatted, it may work:

  • Macbook Pro fell, dented, and other injuries.

    Hi guys.
Had an unfortunate event where my sling bag slipped off and fell to ground. My macbook pro is now slightly dented, and the magsafe power slot is now a bit tilted. It's running fine though but I am concern whether the impact from the fall would affect my macbook in any way.
Had scheduled for an appointment but that is only 2 days later. Any advice at this point would really be appreciated.
    Thanks.

Sure it affected the MBP. It got dented didn't it? And more then likely may have damaged something inside. This type of damage may not show for a period of time. It all depends on what may of been damaged.
Just keep using it as it is and if it fails then take it in to be fixed.

  • Macbook pro fell off my bed!

    Hi,
I had my macbook on my bed and my AUX cable was plugged in, it slipped off my bed accidentally when i was trying to reach for the charger and it fell on the floor and the AUX cable has dinted the side of my mac, it is pretty bad because i cant even the AUX cable in because its broken and the usb ports ect. seem to have gone in slightly deeper which isn't normal, I have apple care as well so will they repair this for me?

Sorry, AppleCare does not cover accidental damage.
You only recourse is homeowners'/renters' insurance. It turns out that many such policies cover computer damage or loss, subject to a deductible, of course.
Notify your insurance carrier of the accident and see if it's covered. Then head to an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider for a repair estimate.

  • Macbook pro fell down e

Guys , I was driving in large subarbun , my mbp 2.4Ghz was completely shut down fully , and the bag laptop was in , fell of the seat to the floor during the sudden break . I turned on laptop and can't find anything wrong however to be 100% sure shall I run smartctl tests or apple hardware test ?
the other problem I can't run smartctl long test it is only short that passing , any idea how can I run full per sector disk check ? what else shall be worry about . Surely I did backup all the user folder on regular basis . What I concern about that hard disk suddenly not starting to fell of on me .

Could you be a bit more clearer as to what you are asking? I can make out that you were driving an SUV and when you applied your brakes suddenly, the laptop fell off the seat onto the floor. If everything works properly what now are you concerned about?

  • My MacBook Pro fell, and now when I power it up, it shows a flashing icon of a question mark in a file folder. Is this repairable?

ITMS there anything I can try to restore it? Thank you

That display means you do not have a reconizable boot device.  Add to that the drop, and the hard disk is either deeply confused physically or dead.
Other ohysical damage is quite possible.
Take it to a Gnius Bar and have them confirm or deny more damage than the hard disk.

  • My macbook pro fell off the coach and landed on its screen..nothings cracked or damaged..but is ut ok?

    Is it ok?

You can continue using it and it may or may not continue to work properly.  I suggest the you run an Apple Hardware Test:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1509
You may need to use OPTION D to start it.
Better would be to have a genius bar technician check it out.
    Ciao.

  • Macbook pro fell and is dented

I have a genius appointment set up, but I was wondering if there's any way to fix the dents on my own or would I have to replace the body through Apple? How expensive would that be?

Well let me just say this one more time. You no longer have any warranty. The repairs to the dented case will cost you. The repairs to whatever is wrong with the sound will cost you. And in 1 week to 3 years and beyond whatever may go wrong with your Mac, hard drive dies, Logic board fails, DVD drive goes bad, screen fails, Whatever, will also cost you.
Just trying to be clear on this because your reply about how you have X number of years left on your warranty makes me and Courcoul think you are not really understanding the situation.
Once there is ANY physical damage to any Mac, Desktop, Notebook, All in one (iMac), Apple Cancels, Voids, X's out any warranty that may be left.
It is gone, History, Adios Amigo.
And no one here thinks your stupid. We are just trying to make this point clear.
