My MacBook Pro froze

So, this issue seem to occur just before the expiry date of the warranty, i bought mine late february 2012, started to freez a week ago, searched and there u go, it is a common issue!!!
What apple has done about it? We bought this top of the range macbook pro and after warranty expires, seem that the machine is expired too? What is next? What about the important information we trusted the machine with????
These faulty machines should have been recalled.
Any idea what shall i do guys?

I have a Late 2011 15" MBP that has had No problems what so ever. Other then it runs better with Lion then Mt Lion and runsd much better with just Windows 7 installed on it. But as far as the hardware not one problem with that.
When buyinig any Proprietary system like all products from Apple it is best to buy the extended Applecare warranty for 2 reasons.
1) To fix any Mac it really needs to go back to Apple as they don't sell part to anyone other then Apple stores or AARC. So there is no chance of a User getting any parts from Apple.
2) To fix any Mac out of warranty is very expensive because of the way Apple designs and assembles the computers.
There is only one thing you can do. Take it to an Apple store to be checked out and an estimate on the cost of repairing it. If that cost is over what you want to spend then look at buying another computer, Mac or other, and get the extended warranty for it. At least a 3 year warranty.

While searching the internet last night my Macbook pro froze up and would not respond to anything. I restarted the computer and now the computer will not ecen start up. It will go to the gray screen with the apple sign. It is there working for 10 seconds and finally shuts down again. Any ideas how to get the computer to come back to life?

Go step by step and test.

  • My MacBook Pro froze and I shut it down and now it's lagging and being slow?

Sorry if it's kinda long...I didn't want to leave anything out.
I have a mid 2009 MacBook Pro (10.5.8) today after being a normal MacBook Pro I was watching videos on YouTube with Google Chrome and it froze. The entire system, I couldn't move the mouse, I couldn't force quit or anything. So, after a little while, I shut it off by holding the power button. When it restarted, the startup chime came on and it got to the grey screen with the Apple and stayed there for about five minutes (it showed it was loading) and then it restarted by itself. After that it took forever to start up. It came to a blue screen where I could move the mouse around but there wasn't anything to click so I waited another few minutes and then it finally got to the screen where I log in. When I logged in, I went to the Applications folder to delete some stuff because I was thinking that maybe my low hard drive space was the cause (I'd recently delete a lot of stuff but mostly just old games I finish and no longer play. I have 9.3 GB left now) but now it isn't letting me delete anything. I can't move anything to the trash, I've tried dragging the files, using the command and detele button and anything else and it's not working, it makes the sound but then I get the pinwheel for a few minutes and no moving. I tried emptying my trash (I have one photo in there) and it's not letting me empty it saying an "unexpected error occured" (error code -50) and then I tried moving the photo onto the desktop and it won't let me do that either. It's also been lagging a lot and anything I do it freezes often with the pinwheel and then unfreezes for a while before it repeats that process. It won't let me load anything on Google Chrome and with FireFox it's saying another copy is open when there isn't.
It's really confusing me like crazy. I wanted to try deleting avast since it's the last thing I downloaded and it freezes all the time but considering my trash problem, I can't. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've tried safe mode but apparently, my MacBook Pro is against Safe Mode because I've tried about four times to get it there and it doesn't do anything but start up normally.
Oh and I hope I did this discussion thing right, I've never used it before...

Boot from your OS installer disk and run Repair Disk from Disk Utility.

  • HT1338 My macBook Pro froze what can I do?

I am having problems with my MacBook Pro it froze when I'm watching movies or videos. What's the problem and what can I do to fix it?

The first thing would be to force quit by holding the power button down for an extended period. Reboot as normal.

  • Macbook pro froze during partition. after force shut down it, a part of hard drive lost

2011 15' Macbook Pro with Mountain Lion.
I was trying to use Bootcamp to install windows. Somehow I got confused and used disk utility to partition my hard drive and get 100gb for windows (before that it was 500 gb with 260gb free). And after 10 minutes the computer froze and I could do nothing but force shut down it. Rebooted and disk utility shows that it has 160 gb free space now. I repaired disk and permissions but none of them worked.
How can I get my 100 gb back? Help pls
    Thanks

  • Macbook Pro froze when playing flash video in windows 7, help!

I have a Macbook Pro 17 inch early 2011 model that is only a few days old. The only modification is the RAM upgrade from 4GB to 8GB.
I have Windows 7 running via boot  camp however, earlier today, ehilst playing a youtube video, the whole system froze and I heard a buzzing sound. I had to force the system to shut off with the power button. I'm now back in Mac OS X Lion.
Is this a known issue? A one-off? Can I do anything to stop it?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

If you said using Lion, I would say "yes" but Windows 7, a big "No" rock solid and can handle tons of flash content etc.
Maybe your browser or something. Bit of advice: avoid Safari, 5.x was not well designed or multithreaded and 5.1 has huge issues for Windows, Apple Common Support version 2.0
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
IE9 and any version of Mozilla Firefox are fine, but nothing is as good as the weakest plug in or link.
Also, MSSE is a good security program and never caused or allowed harm. Otherwise, I use Kaspersky 2011 Suite on one system.
There are always those that will want to use Fake Flash player and try to find a way to fool people to download and install fake codecs or even fake AV software.
Do a Safe boot, chkdsk, CCleaner, run %TEMP% and clean out the junk there.
    Microsoft Security Essentials
    Kaspersky Security Products
And make sure you are current with Adobe etc.

  • MacBook Pro froze

    Hello
My cousin owns a 2007 MacBook Pro running on Tiger. She says it froze suddenly, and when she pressed the power button, the display showed a message saying that she needs to restart the Mac. She pressed the power button again (as in restarting) but the same message keeps showing up again, over and over.
Any idea how to help her out??
    Thanks.

    Hi H,
She can start by running Repair Disk: Boot from install disc (insert disc>restart>immediately hold down c key and keep holding it until you see “Preparing Installation”)>at first screen go to Installer Menu>open Disk Utility>select your HD in the panel on the left side>click Repair Disk at bottom of main window. Run this at least twice, and keep running it until it says “appears ok” twice in a row. If that doesn’t happen, you may need a stronger utility such as DiskWarrior or if the directory is damaged beyond repair, you may need to reinstall the OS, or you may have a damaged HD (repair utilities can only repair the directory structure, not the HD itself).
    Also try a Safe Boot.

  • MacBook Pro froze during software update, now it's stuck at gray screen

My MacBook Pro was running a little slow today so I did a Disk Utility repair and that went fine then I did a software update (OS X, Java and remote desktop) but it froze during the last ten percent of the update install and now when I boot up it won't get past the gray apple screen. I tried to restore Lion but since I bought this used my Apple ID wasn't used to purchase Lion so I can't do a restore.
I've tried to safe boot and boot from a CD but no go.
I also tried the short and long Apple hardware tests and those found no problems

In case anyone else needs an answer to this, I called in to Apple. Tech support said to power it off and let it reboot itself. I had to go back into updates and tell it to finish the install (restart computer, was the only step remaining) and it worked fine. It took longer because it had gotten hung up during the previous restart. ( Just to clarify, I was stuck on the grey screen after the restart step of the install.)

  • MacBook Pro Froze During Windows Installation

I am running Mavericks lastest update on mid-2012 MacBook Pro.  I was installing Windows and following the directions provided in the Apple Support Communities.........the MacBook froze during the installation of Windows after I answered the prompt about the size of the partition........800 GhB for Mac and 200GhB for Windows 7.  I now have a blank grey screen on the MacBook.  I get the Apple boot-up when I press the Power up button but nothing happens.
How can I reboot and start the installation over?
    Thanks very much.

Correction:  I get the Apple boot-up sound when I press the Power button but nothing then happens other than the same grey screen.

  • My MacBook Pro froze and started a soft slow beeping.  When I restarted it the screen is blank.

When I went to wake my MacBook Pro, it was frozen and there was a soft, slow beeping.  I restarted it, but it goes to a blank screen.  Help, please.

If you get either Beeping of Flashing at Starup, that indicates there is not enough good RAM to start up. Some of your RAM may be dislodged, but more likely it has failed.

  • MacBook Pro froze on update so restarted now I only get to logo and loading animation

I was updating my MacBook Pro 15" i7 late 2010 when it seemed to freeze saying 'moving one item'. I left it for a while 1.5 hrs and still no change so restarted the MBP.
Now it won't to beyond the apple logo and spinning loading icon.
Started up on OSX lion recovery and verified and repaired but still no joy on restart.
    Any ideas?

    Hey MSU16323,
Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like you get a gray screen during startup. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.

  • My macbook pro froze after migration, help!

I used migrate assistant to migrate from my backup hardrive to my new macbook pro, the process went well until time to restart, now my computer is stuck at 'finalizing your migration' page and nothing else happens. It's been this way for hours. I have tried a hard reboot but no luck. Help!

You would need to install OS X from the scratch(not sure USB OS X Lion came with your MacBook Pro or not, though it's available at Apple Store. http://store.apple.com/us/product/D6106Z/A/os-x-lion or Mountain Lion: http://store.apple.com/us/product/D6377Z/A/os-x-mountain-lion) or take your MacBook Pro to authorised Service Centre to repair.

Checked to see how much space is available ??
Click your Apple menu  top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac > More Info > Storage
Make sure there's at least 15% free disk space. Less can slow your Mac down.
    Check the startup disk lately?
Launch Disk Utility located in HD > Applications > Utillities
Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click:  Verify Disk  (not Verify Disk Permissions)
If DU reports errors, restart your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys. From there you should be able to access the built in utilities in OS X Recovery to repair the startup disk.
