  • MacBook Pro gives a blue screen when I try to start from a bootable usb stick

Since yeasterday my MacBook Pro is refusing to startup. The starup proccess goes like Apple Logo, Spinning wheel, white dispaly and stops - freezes there.
So I made a bootable usb stick and tried to boot from there so to be able to do a format and repair it. Also the recovery HD wont boot...
When I start my Macbook Pro from the bootable usb stick it gives me a blue screen. I have tried to reset PRAM but nothing.
I am attaching 2 images of the blue screen.
    Please help...!!!

Guys thank you for your replies. I could boot in any way... I tried several things.
Finally a friend managed to give me an Apple Hardware Test and it came with these results... Any ideas ?

  • Macbook Pro i7 Won't Sleep When Plugged In

I have a macbook pro 15in i7 model 6,2 that will no longer sleep when plugged in anymore. It seems to have started after I applied the latest firmware updates the other day.
I have tried two different power adapters and still have the same problem. If I close the lid, it will start to go to sleep, and then will wakeup, over and over again. As soon as I unplug the power cable, it will go to sleep. If I plug the power cable back in, it powers up and starts cycling again. The fan never really cuts off and the display will go black, and then flash back on.
Any ideas? I really don't want to have to reinstall the OS just to find out it's a firmware issue. I'm not sure what to do from here.
    Thanks

I have the same issue - sleep works fine when unplugged, but when plugged in it just cycles on/sleep/on/sleep if the top is closed, or just comes back on seconds later if i sleep it with top open.
Resetting the SMC does nothing. This only started to happen in the last weeks, and not much has changed on my system except mac updates, so it must be something in there...
    A real pain.
    Anybody...?

  • 1st Gen. Macbook Pro Turns Off Suddenly, Even When Plugged In

    Help Me!
My 1.83 Ghz Intel Core Duo shuts down without warning after I start it up. Sometimes it's 1 minute into the startup, sometimes its 10. But after installing snow leopard 10.6, it does this everytime without fail. My screen doesn't work, so I have it plugged it into an external monitor. When it's turned on and working, it functions perfectly. But all of a sudden, it will turn off. I copied the power information from the system profiler, which is pasted below. Any help on possible fixes would be great. Maybe some sort of MPU reset or something. Also, I tested the battery I'm currently using in another Macbook Pro of the same exact model, and it works fine. • Is it possible to keep a macbook pro charged to only 60%(when plugged in)?

My purpose is extending the battery lifespan of my rMBP battery. I only use it at home. I know it needs some modification in OS X or Battery firmware and it's not an easy thing to do, and no one has done it yet. Any possibility for this?
According to battery university keeping SoC between 20% and 80% is best for maximizing the lifespan of all kinds of batteries and car makers do this for electric cars' batteries, so why not to do this for laptops? for example imagine when the battery SoC reaches to 60% or 80% the light on magsafe turns green and charging stops.

  • I want to buy a hard case for my macbook pro, but I don't know what year it is. When I use the serial number to try and find out, all it says is, "~VIN,MacBook Pro (15-inch Glossy)". When I type that into amazon for a case it gives me nothing!

    Hi a,
    http://www.mctiviausa.com/
There has been "talk" on and off of Apple TV doing it (and people have done it with a hack), but I haven't really followed it.
It would be a whole lot cheaper getting an adapter (as needed) and cable and simply pluggin it in when you're in the kitchen.

  • I dropped my macbook pro off my couch and when it landed it was shut, i opened it and it was on a grey sceen so i shut it down with the button and when i turned it back on it was kind of slow but not anymore i just want to know if i should be worried

i dropped my macbook pro off my couch and when it landed it was shut, i opened it and it was on a grey sceen so i shut it down with the button and when i turned it back on it was kind of slow but not so much anymore. i quit all of my applications before i shut down and i noticed that when there are no more things t quit and i click "hide finder" its not grey anymore it still gives me the option to hide it when i dont need to, little things bug me and i just got this laptop, i just want to know if i should be worried

I suggest you immediately make a backup of your data. You don't know if or when the computer will show some symptoms from the drop. You may want to, for piece of mind, take the computer to an authorised service center for assessment. No one here can assess any internal damage you may have done.

Well first, I must say "Yikes!!!"   I didn't know anyone still used Word Perfect.   That's an old school word processor right there... haha.
Okay, in all seriousnous, when saving your files in Word Perfect, use the Save As feature, and select a different format.   Word Perfect's format is likely not going to be opened by any of the popular word processing software.   I would try saving the document as RTF (rich text format), which is a universal standard across word processors.   This way, you can open the document on your Mac, or any other machine.
Now, I'm also assuming that you have a word processor installed on your Mac.   Right?   Maybe Word?  Maybe Pages?   If you don't have a word processor, you'll need to get one.   If you don't want to spend the $10 on Pages, consider downloading Open Office (http://www.openoffice.org/download/).   This will give you a free word processor that you can use on your Mac.

  • How to Make my Macbook Pro's internal HDD external, when I get a SSD?

Hey, I know there are other posts on what enclosure you can use and if it's a possibility, but I haven't seen any that tell me how I get OS X on the SSD without a disc? Can I download the installer on a flash drive somehow? Also, I am wondering if this really is a good idea, using my Macbook Pro's HDD for a backup HDD, instead of buying one? I have no use for it anyway, if and when I get a new SSD. BTW, the HDD is the upgraded factory 500gb 7200rpm. Also, do you think it's smarter to have a bigger backup drive than internal drive? In other words, I would like to get a 1TB Samsung 850 Pro SSD, and my current HDD is only 500GB.... I am a musician and need a lot of storage for musical purposes. I use Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro X, Ableton Live 9, Office, and Photoshop.... My Macbook Pro is a Late 2011 Macbook Pro 15.4' 2.2ghz quad core i7 8gb RAM. Oh yeah and a mother thing is, I think I should get an enclosure that has a thunderbolt port with usb, what are your thoughts?

How to Make my Macbook Pro's internal HDD external, when I get a SSD?
Get an externel enclosure at the same time.
    You can order from OWC
    http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/hard-drives/2.5-Notebook/
Put the SSD in the externel enclosure and use something like Carbon Copy Cloner,  to clone the internal drive and all it content to the SSD.  Then swap them out.
Always good to have more than one backup.

Any one who can point us in the right direction that would be great and we would be very grateful. Thanks So Much

Lojack for laptops - if that is the product you purchased and installed, you will need to read the user manual or contact the manufacturer as it is 3rd party.  You did file a police report right?

  • I have a new l7 macbook pro running snow leopard.  When I try to boot into windows7 32bit, I get either a blue, black, or flickering screen.  Then I have to physically shut down and try again.  At that point it will load correctly.  Any help?

I have a new l7 Macbook Pro running snow leopard.  When I tried to to install windows 7 32 bit on bootcamp, I kept getting a flicking black and blue screen when it tried to install. (Tried several times).  I finally downloaded the bootcamp windows support to a flash.  I inserted that and finally got it installed.  Now when I try to boot into windows I get either a solid black (sometimes blue) or flickering screen and windows will not start up.  If I then physically shut down the mac and restart, it will finally boot into windows where it tells me that windows was shut down unexpectently and once I click start windows normally, it will boot up.  That will generally let me boot into windows for the remaining of the day.  The next day, the same thing happens again.  I have tried reinstalling several times, and the same thing keeps happening.  It is not my windows disk because it installs flawlessly on the mid 2008 macbook pro.  Anyone know how to fix this?

I own HDM 2011. But they have products that aren't listed or hard to find too.
