My macbook pro hard drive crashed, new one installed, need to reload my cs5 and lightroom on new hard drive
Help! Can't figure out how to download cs5 & light room on my new hard drive after macbook pro crashed. any ideas
You can get cs5 from here:
http://www.adobe.com/downloads/other-downloads.html
lightroom from here
(it says updates, but they are the full versions. for example if you have lightroom 4, install the version 4.4.1)

Hi i haven't updated my iDVD seen 2005 and to get the new one i need 7.0.4 first and i downloaded it from the apple website and when i go into the updating process its says "An eligible iDVD application was not found in the location /Applications." why
Because you need to buy iLife 08 or newer on DVD first. If you're using iDVD 05, you probably have a PowerPC Mac and can't use iLife 11.

Old computer died. New computer, Installed iTunes on Windows 7. Have iPods in family. Want to get music back from iPods onto computer. Can't figure it ouit. Should not be this hard. Did manage to get purchased downloaded apps. Just can't get music. Any way to do this?
So far, apple help *****. They want money. Docs don't seem to say how to do it. iTunes just wants to wipe out iPod and replace current contents with nothing.Launch iTunes on the new computer.
From the menu bar at the top of your screen click Store / Authorize This Computer
Connect the iPod to the computer.
From the iTunes menu bar click File / Transfer Purchases From....

My hard drive crashed on my macbook pro so i had a new one installed and they couldn't get my pictures off. I dont want to lose all my memories! They gave me back my old hard drive. Is there anyone that could help me?
I think how you understand the value of having backups. All you can do is:
General File Recovery
If you stop using the drive it's possible to recover deleted files that have not been overwritten by using recovery software such as MAC Data Recovery, Data Rescue II, File Salvage or TechTool Pro. Each of the preceding come on bootable CDs to enable usage without risk of writing more data to the hard drive. Two free alternatives are Disk Drill and TestDisk. Look for them and demos at MacUpdate or CNET Downloads. Recovery software usually provide trial versions that enable you to determine if the software would help before actually paying for it. Beyond this or if the drive has completely failed, then you would need to send the drive to a recovery service which is very expensive.
The longer the hard drive remains in use and data are written to it, the greater the risk your deleted files will be overwritten.
Also visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on Data Recovery.
You will need an external enclosure for the old drive so you can connect it to the computer in order to try the recovery software before you buy it. But if they don't work then you will need to send the drive to a recovery service such as Drive Savers. -
My hard drive crashed and I now have a new one installed. I have lost my purchased Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design Standard MAC OS. I have the receipt and product; can I reinstall it into the computer?

My hard drive recently crashed and I had to have a new one installed, at the same time I upgraded to Yosemite since then I have not been able to get on my banks website to do any online banking. I just get a blank page after I log onto the bank. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
Using Safari? Safari/Preferences/Advanced - enable the Develop menu, then go there and Empty Caches. Quit/reopen Safari and test. Then try Safari/History/Show History and delete all history items. Quit/reopen Safari and test. You can also try try Safari/Clear History and Web Site Data. The down side is it clears all cookies.Doing this may cause some sites to no longer recognize your computer as one that has visited the web site.
Try another browser as a test.

I had an HP laptop with Itunes on it and kept my library on an external hard drive. I had a 160gb classic Ipod.
My computer died and i am buying a new one (mac is out of budget)
When I get my new computer, obviously I will download Itunes. My Ipod still has all the music on it and the external hard drive is ok.
I don't want to "erase" or lose any information when I sync with a new itunes that is "empty"
What are the steps? After I download Itunes and set the folder location to my external harddrive what is next? Will Itunes recognize my IPOD? Will it load the music/list from my ipd or external into itunes?
Thanks in advanceThe following user tip is worth checking through:
Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device -
I bought a brand new Mac 27" desktop that came loaded with Adobe CS6. Everything worked like a charm until the hard drive, 1Tb, developed a bad sector and the Apple Store reinstalled a new one as I had extended warranty with them. They recycled the drive immediately (like a fool I didn't ask for it back to get the data off it.) But luckily I have all my data on CrashPlan. I downloaded it and it worked great except I downloaded it to the desktop and not the original location so it got squirrely. I also have an external 1.5Tb drive that I wanted to make bootable so I installed Mavericks 10.9.3 . I then went ahead and installed it on the newly installed drive too.
I think that because I have a new drive Adobe thinks I have a news computer. I bought the 27" Mac brand new from Ebay and it came loaded with software, including CS6. I have a serial number for CS6 but Adobe said it wasn't valid. (I have owned CS2, CS4 and now CS6 which came preloaded onto the Mac by the seller who told me that the software was registered to the Mac???
I am going to re-download the backup but this time to the original location (I still don't think it will work with Adobe. What can I do about this?

My MacBook Pro 15-inch crashes upon startup.
Hey guys. I'm having huge problems!!!! Please prepaid to me ASAP!! I need this computer to work otherwise I'm screwed for middle schools ( it needs to be fixed by Monday this week )
My Mac wont boot. Every time it boots it will crash.
This is the boot in verbosboot or however you call it, is on YouTube with this link here:
I recorded it just so you know how long it boots. This is how long it takes for it to hang on the apple logo with a spinning wheel. At the end of the log when it shuts down. The wheel freezes. Then the Mac reboots and says it restarted because of a problem. Or as I call it kernel panic.
http://youtu.be/DDHRD-sXuQ8
Here are the fixes I have tried:
1. Reinstall OS X: tried it. Still nothing changed... :(
2. Reset pram and VRAM: nothing changed :(
3. Safe mode: does the exact same thing. :(
4. Verify the disk in recovery mode with disk utility: says its fine :(
Specs:
This is a mid 2012 15-inch MacBook Pro
8 core intel processor
8GB installed RAM
500GB hard drive / RPM: Unknown
Age: 6 months from purchase
OS: OS X 10.8.2 / Mountain Lion AKA latest version of OSX
Notes:
I don't know if it was cause I plugged in a new external hard drive but it does not seems so. But however it has been put to sleep instead of being shut down for about 2 weeks ( why? Cause I'm on holidays. And too lazy to shut it down and than wait 2 min in the morning to play games )
Was perfectly fine before I stop shutting it down...Well at this point the only way to save your files is to either use an external drive to reinstall OS X on then boot the system from that external and copy your data over to that external or take the drive out of your Mac and connect it to another with a SATA to USB adapterr of some type and copy the files over.
Simple fact is if you can't start the system from the internal drive, the drive that has all your DATA on it, you will need to WIPE that drive and reinstall the OS on it. Something is very corrupted stopping you from accessing it at all. There is only one way out of that and that is to Reinstall Clean.
Hopefully it isn't a hardware program. But even if it isn't and you take the system to Apple they will more then likely Wipe the drive and reinstall the OS and with that you will lose alll your data.
alexanderfromcalgary wrote:
For 1. I did that. Nothing changed.
For 2. I can't erase cause last time it was working it never backed up important files on time machine.
For 3. I did that and nothing was wrong by the looks of hardware test.
For 4. I already have my laptop in a box to take it to apple or the people that ordered it for me. -
My laptop has crashed and I'm in between getting a new one but need to update my iOS on my iPad, is there anyway of doing this without a laptop or computer?
If you can't update via wifi, you can use a friend's computer, or an Apple store will do it for you.
If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

iOS: How to update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily. Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

My story:
Tons of apps were crashing left and right: Evernote, Reminders, Pages, etc. What's worse, the computer had multiple kernel panics in the first week of purchase, none of which could be attributed to Chrome, Skype, or any of that nonsense. When I ran the Apple hardware test, everything came up fine. Took the computer to the Genius Bar, who recommended that I erase and reinstall. I did that, and I just experienced another crash today. I was in Pages, and the entire computer froze, although I could move my cursor.
Put simply, I dropped almost four thosuand dollars on what should be the best computer on the planet, but is actually a piece of crap.
I only wish I knew whether it was hardware or software, so that I could actually fix the problem.
Either way, I severely doubt I will purchase another Apple computer. -
MacBook Pro randomnly freezes/crashes
I have a client (I'm a local tech just getting crash courses in Macs) who's MacBook Pro randomly freezes/crashes. I have ran a disk repair but the issue still persists. He has sent me quite a few different crash reports which I can't make heads or tails over really. They are really long - should I post them for assistance or is there any usual troubleshooting steps needed to be done?
I will post one, but all seem to vary and don't appear to be the same issue...

Hi. I am preparing for CA Bar Exam. I am considering buying MacBook Pro for exam writing. One is 13 inch 1499 dollar 2.5 GHz 8GB, the other is 15 inch MacBook Pro 2.7 GHz 2799 dollar 16 GB. Both are retina. Which one is better for me?
I will use Barclays Card for 18 month free interest.
I wil ask Apple clerk to avoid LG monitor.
I will buy those in Apple store.
Which one will you recommend?Tha's something you need to decide for yourself.
Do you think you need 16GB of memory or 8 will be enough?
Do you need to carry your macbook around with you more often? if so just get the 13" it's easier to carry.
Or maybe you enjoy watching media on a bigger screen?
As for word processing it shouldn't be a problem on both notebooks.
Also can you afford buying the 15"?
And what about the hard drive capacity?
So my advice is to consider these aspects, make a list of pros and cons and see what you come up with

Is there any problem for the board running HTT@1100mhz?
Well, I'm running my system 275x4=1100HTT, can I keep this if it's stable or is it risky? I think I've read somewhere that HTT shouldn't go beyond 1000mhz, could someone elucidate me? Thanks.
