My MacBook Pro has locked me out how do I access?

My daughter has her exams tomorrow and her cheat sheets are on her computer. We went to log on as normal and her passwords etc are now incorrect and it is not accepting the Apple ID an password to change anything. I have one stressed out girl!!! How can I get into the contents of the computer?

Try and reboot the computer, if you can't due to configuration you may be forced to hold down the power button.
- Start the computer back up while holding down (Command + R), before you see the Apple Logo.
- Once the system starts up you will be in Recovery mode.
- Click on "Utilites" from the menu bar, and open up "Terminal".  Type in "resetpassword" then hit "enter" on your keyboard.
- The Password Reset utility will open.  Click on "Macintosh HD" and then using the drop down list, select your user.
- Using the password fields there you can setup a new password.
*FYI* - The application that stores your passwords will also be reset so all saved passwords will be lost

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

  • My macbook pro has FBI moneypack virus, how to remove

my macbook pro has an fbi moneypack virus on one user---can i remove this problem?

As has already been pointed out, that's not Mac malware.
From your description, I'm guessing that you're seeing a pop-up window in your web browser that has no close box and no buttons for dismissing it. This is not malware, simply a nasty JavaScript on a web site. That pop-up may very well be part of an attempt to install malware on your computer, but you aren't using Windows, so it won't affect you.
If this guess is correct, force-quit your browser according to the instructions that have already been given. Then, start your browser again while holding the shift key. This will prevent the browser from trying to re-load the pages that were open when you forced it to quit.

  • "L" key on my Retina MacBook Pro has been popping out

Since I own the new mid-2012 Retina MacBook Pro, the L key on my keyboard has been behaving abnormally.
Initially when press & depressed, it will become loose.
    Now it pops out sideways.
I will bring it to a Authorized Apple Repair ctr and they will tell me I have to pay for it even when I am on AppleCare as its a COSMETIC problem.
I have called Apple Technical Support Ctr and received the same answer.
I have never subjected the keyboard or my Mac to any improper use.
Prior to this rMBP, I used a late 2008 Al unibody MacBook with same keyboard without any issue.
I am deeply saddened by Apple's service & subpar quality on their products.
In addition to the L key prob, I lived with ghost image and ignore the prob.
But Keyboard key popping out will require the entire keyboard set to be replaced and Apple which charge a premium for this blaming me for abusing the keys.

I live with iPad3 that has dents outta e box.

My MacBook Pro has no audio.  Sounds preferences showing output is Optical digital-out port.  How do I change this to built-in speakers?

I experienced this same problem yesterday on my MacBook Pro,  still searching for a solution, several other posts here indicate people have been experiencing this since at lease 2007.  I have  yet to find a clear solution.
It appears that occasionally inserting headphone causes this, it turns on the Optical digital-out port feature (red light glows inside the headphone port) and takes away the internal speakers option.   Restarting did not restore it, but for some reason after sitting asleep overnight the sound started working again and the internal speaker option return in the Sound - Output Window, and the Optical Digital-out option went away.
Here is another post with some ideas on this

You don't, take it to Apple for repair.

  • Has anyone figured out how to scan from an HP officejet Pro 8600 after upgrading to OS 10.9.4

Has anyone figured out how to scan to  a MacBook Pro with 10.9.4 from HP officejet Pro 8600?

iMovie acts as it does, I suspect, because it's so much safer (and easier) to program.
As iMovie is now structured, each clip has a startFrame and an endFrame. They show the starting point and ending point of that clip in its source file. There's only one of each. Simple.
For us to remove a portion of the middle without splitting the clip in two, iMovie would have to allow each clip to have multiple start/end points. So iMovie would have to "remember" that the clip starts playing at frame 100, stops at frame 120, starts again at frame 150, stops at frame 200, and so on. Very complicated.
The amount of data that would be required to undo a change, for example, could become quite large, and be very, very complicated. Lots of opportunity for errors. Imagine what iMovie would have to "remember" if we could remove the middle, added a title to the clip, remove part of the title, then split the clip and applied a slow motion effect to the second part of the split.
This way is simpler, and not all that inconvenient for users, in my opinion. I prefer simple when it adds to reliability.

Not very helpful. Micron / Crucial makes maybe 2000 RAM types. If all you have is the RAM and the label you may be thin on luck.

  • Macbook Pro has adware. Keep getting annoying pop-ups. How do i clean my laptop

Macbook Pro has adware. Keep getting annoying pop-ups. How do I clean my laptop

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem.
You may have installed one or more of the common types of ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it. It's been reported that some variants of the "VSearch" malware block access to the page. If that happens, start in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime, then try again.
Back up all data before making any changes.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, ask for further instructions.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. It may have come from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
Malware is also found on websites that traffic in pirated content such as video. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
    or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
    if it's not already checked.
