My macbook pro has picked up a UKASH virus. How can I get rid of it.

My Macbook has picked up a UKASH virus and the Safari is locked and wont shut down/close. How can I get rid of this and stop it happeneing again in the future.
Other blogs show how to solve this on a Windows set up, but not MAC
Any ideas

Yes, it is a varient of the same malware however for Mac users it appears to only infect the browser using a Javascript lock.
Write down the url of the malware site, all you need is the domain name like discussions.apple.com, nothing else is needed.
1: Command tab to the Finder
2: Apple Menu > Force Quit > Safari
3: Relaunch Safari holding the Shift key down to disable reopening of previous pages.
4: Reset Safari.
5: Report the offending site to: https://www.google.com/safebrowsing/report_badware/
6: Restart your machine and restore from TimeMachine backup or bootable clone (optional at this time as we don't know much about it on Mac's yet)
Most commonly used backup methods
7: Harden your Mac against stuff like this: Harden your Mac against malware attacks

  • MacBook Pro has picked up europol/ukash virus. Is my MacBook safe?

Browsing safari today.. The Europol virus started also known as ukash virus.. I tried closing safari but It wouldn't let me so I turned the MacBook off by holding the off button turned it back on and it was still running on safari.. I repeated the process but waited 5 minutes before turning the MacBook back on and it was no longer running on safari.. I restarted safari deleting everything cookies etc. will my MacBook still be infected I'm using a 2012 MacBook Pro running mountain lion. If anyone could help me out that would be great. I thought mac products were near enough virus safe.. Obviously not! Are there any ways of preventing this happening again?
    Thanks

Probably a Windows virus that can't affect OS X, but see Linc Davis's post here:

  • I have a Macbook Pro 15" and Canon LBP7750Cdn printer. How can i get rid of a ip assigned to the printer previously because it clashed with another device?

I have canon lbp7750cdn printer. i assigned ip 192.168.1.50 to it to install as network printer. after a few unsuccessful attempts realised the ip was already assigned elsewhere, hence changed ip to 192.168.1.60 and the printer worked. but now when i want to run printer monitor utility (which is part of driver used
    - lbp7750cdn UFR II uk} it cant load info because it is looking for printer with first ip. { the monitor utility gives status of supplies. thanx in advance for help. Noor.

  • ITunes on iCloud has created unwanted multiple playlists. How can I get rid of them?

iTunes on iCloud has created unwanted multiple playlists. How can I get rid of them?

Hi, if this is in regards to your library simply open up itunes and do the following steps:
    Click File
    Scroll down to "show duplicates"
A list will then appear of your duplicate song titles.
Be sure to CAREFULLY review each song to make sure it is a duplicate ( as I have some music that is the same song but live, acoustic etc...)
Proceed to manually delete each song from the list and leave alone any song that you wish to keep.
For playlists, you will need to hit the name tab so that your doubles line up, from there you will have to manually delete them, it helps to hold the Control button to select multiple songs as a time ( they will be highlighted) then when your done selecting the songs you wish to delete, right click your mouse and select the delete option from the window tab.
Best of luck, please rate my response for help!

  • My laptop has a virus, how can i get rid of it?

My laptop has a virus on it and its called AntiVirus 360. I looked up on google what it is and its a virus that disguises itself as a program to help detect viruses when itself is the virus. I've tried many different programs to try and delete it off my computer but nothing seems to work. I also read that sometimes this virus can appear to have been deleted but then when you reboot the computer it re-installs itself. How can I get rid of it completely and permenantly? I have a friend that works at Best Buy and he said you guys could repair it but it costs about $200. I didn't know if there was anything else I could try that you know of. Please help because it keeps messing with my internet pages and is making my computer slower than it should be.
    Thank you for your time!

Stuff like that is better known as "spyware/malware" - There are categories of malware not consider viruses (although often they are installed by a virus as a larger payload).
I would suggest trying Malwarebytes.  If Malwarebytes can't fix it, your best bet is probably to nuke and repave.  (i.e. backup your data files and then reinstall Windows and all applications from scratch.)

  • When I open Safari with Macbook Pro my bookmark subfolders are hidden.  How can I get them back?

I have set up number of subfolders in Safari but they have disappeared into thin air.  I know they are still there because if I create a new bookmark it gives me these subfolders as an option to save to.  How can I get my subfolders back.  I am using a Macbook Pro

If you are using iCloud open System Preferences > iCloud
Deselect the box next to Safari, then reselect it.
Give iCloud a few minutes to sync the data.

  • The Bing web browser has ijacked my Firefox browser. How can i get rid of it.

I downloaded some wallpaper images from Bing. Which i can no longer delete. Then out of the blue Bing took over as my browser

I am just guessing here but possibly Bing has reset your homepage, or has installed some sort of application/toolbar.
To reset your homepage see: [[How to set the home page]]
To look for unwanted addons use Tools -> Add-ons and disable &/or uninstall anything that is unwanted.

  • I had an australian appstore account, but now I want to change it to another country, but it has 23 cents in it. How can I get rid of this? Thanks

Well, the question is self-explanatory. Sorry for any english mistake, I'm not a native english speaker.

    Yurki,
The only way to clear out that remaining balance is to contact iTunes Customer Service.
Once they remove it, you can then change the country.

  • I installed a music downloader Imesh which has taken over my Firefox browser, how can I get rid of it?

I installed a program called iMesh to play music on my computer via the internet. When I used Firefox now the search windows have been taken over by 'iMesh Web Search' and they don't bring up the same lists when I searched Firefox previously; e.g. it is very difficult to get 'Hotmail' to come up. I have uninstalled the iMesh program from the computer (not just deleted the icon), but my Firefox remains invaded. Please can you help?
