One of user's MacBook Pro is asking for a password, when trying to play DVD. Anybody experienced that before?
Maybe the DVD itself is password protected, the user is travelling abroad.

Hi m,
My guess is the DVD is from another region than the one the optical drive is set to. Region changes are limited to 5 total, so it asks for the admin password to make sure you want to do it/allow it. After #5, the drive is locked to that region forever.

You need to enter the passwords for your wifi router/modem. Ask the person who set up your new modem.
SInce you changed syncing computer you have to do this too if you have not done so already:

Sign into the App Store with your Apple ID. App Store should be in the Dock.

My new MBP will randomly ask for my password. It doesn't matter what application I am in, it could be in the middle of watching a dvd. The window will pop up.This is my second MBP, my last one kept crashing, and it was finally replaced. Can anyone help, please?

Back up all data.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select Change Settings for Keychain "login". In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.
From the menu bar, select
Keychain Access ▹ Preferences ▹ First Aid
If the box marked Keep login keychain unlocked is not checked, check it.
Select
Keychain Access ▹ Keychain First Aid
from the menu bar and repair the keychain. Quit Keychain Access.

Why am I asked for a password when trying to use about;config, where is the password set and can I change/delete this?

I tried to use about:config, but I was asked for a password. I don't remember entering a password and have never used the master password function. Where has this come from, and how can I change the password or get rid of the need for a password?

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Wireless Router asking for different password when trying to change settings

I have an "old" wireless router Linksys BEFW11S4 V2.
I am trying to change settings using the web interface.
I can get in using the "admin" password but as soon as I try to change anything (such as SSID, security, etc) and click "Apply", it asks me for a password. This time, the "admin" password doesn't work and I get to a red screen saying I entered a wrong password. I reseted my router and came back to the default but still, I get the same thing.
...any clues anyone?

Try upgrading the firmware from ftp.linksys.com/pub/network ..also after upgrade ...reset the router & reconfigure it ... See if it works ...

i am trying to download a new podcast to which I have been subscribing for the last year or so and it is asking me for a username and password. I have just recently updated my username for my ADSL login and am not sure whether this would be the reason.

Why does my iMac now ask for a password when trying to create a folder in Finder?

Hi guys
My iMac has started to ask me for my login password when I try and create a new folder using Finder. I concert folders on the desktop and drag to the correct location in Finder and I can also create folders in the tree view of Adobe Bridge both without having to enter a password. Any suggestions?

Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
From the Utilities menu select Terminal. At the Terminal prompt enter: resetpassword. Press RETURN. When the window opens select your startup drive where it says "Select the volume containing the user account:" At the bottom of the window you will see, "Reset Home folder permissions and ACLs." Click on the Reset button.

Asking for a password when trying to add an entry to /etc/hosts

I am trying to add an entry to /etc/hosts using Terminal. When I type the command: sudo nano /etc/hosts it asks me for a password. I have never set a password so I have no idea what this would be. My admin pw is blank (I just hit enter) and this is not working. Is there a defaut password or how can I reset this? Thanks

Why is Acrobat X Pro (CS6, Windows 7) asking for Flash Player when trying to play a video?

I created an interactive PDF from InDesign that includes f4v and mp4 videos. When I click on them to activate I get this message: "To view the Flash® technology content in this PDF file, please install the required version of Flash Player." I checked the version of Flash player on both of my computers and they both have the latest. And, they both worked when tested.
So, what the heck's going on here?

Well, it sounds like Flash Player is installed and running, though I think you might have transposed a couple numbers (it should be 10,3,183,7). Are you having problems with any other FB games? Have you posted on the game's forums to see if any other user has encountered issues recently?

You may need to rebuild permissions on your user account. To do this,boot to your Recovery partition (holding down the Command and R keys while booting) and open Terminal from the Utilities menu. In Terminal, type: ‘resetpassword’ (without the ’s), hit return, and select the admin user. You are not going to reset your password. Click on the icon for your Macs hard drive at the top. From the drop down below it select the user account which is having issues. At the bottom of the window, you'll see an area labeled Restore Home Directory Permissions and ACLs. Click the reset button there. The process takes a few minutes. When complete, restart.

It is a folder which I have created. Name is "SAP".
I copied some of my office stuff and then deleted the contents inside the folder. But I couldnt delete the folder SAP.
