My Macbook Pro is downloading Mountain Lion really slow.

So, I have a MacBook Pro that's just one year old as of last month, and lately everything I download is taking way too long, (even for the super small apps). I still have over 250GB of storage left and all that's on my computer is basically all college work and maybe a few apps. My Mountain Lion update has been downloading for the last 6 hours and it still has 1GB of downloading left to do. Is there anyway to speed up my computer? I tried downloading a update to Adobe that was only 11MB and it said 13 minutes, which is kind of ridiculous. I have AT&T high speed WIFI, so I know it's not my internet.

More then likely its slow on the server side due to the high volume of downloads that are probably going on right now. It was that way on launch day for Lion as well for me.

Facetime isn't available in all countries. Are you outside of the US?
Also, go to the time at the top bar, choose "Open Date and Time Preferences," and make sure "Set Date and Time Automatically" is selected.

Icalled my ISP and they tried to help make it work by setting some new preferences Did not work. Took Mac Book Pro into ISP to see if they could remedy the problem. They could not. Still cannot send messages. The only thing I did from when mail could send mail and when it could not was to download Mountain Lion on to both computers. Help!

Just realised that with the SSL checked in the smtp set up, password authorisation is required and is put in the box immediately under the SSL checkbox, which is under the port(s) being used. Can now send mail:)

Can either of these three connect to the existing router (which is not an Apple router and cannot be changed) wireless?
So we understood that you wanted to connect to the existing router using wireless.
If you can run an Ethernet cable from one of the LAN <-> ports on your existing router to the other house, then you could connect one of the Apple routers that way.

Thanks for your reply, Clinton. But I already have two readers that are USB-2 compatible. Now I need the one like I described above. I am using only the fastest CF cards available.
I have read some user reports (on Amazon) on two readers relevant to my needs - SanDisk and Lexar - but I'm still not sure whether they are fully compatible with the Retina MacBook and Mountain Lion. As a matter of fact, I doubt it...

I have a MacBook Pro 2012 running Mountain Lion 10.7.5. I've been trying to get the mirroring icon to show up in the bar but no dice. Any tips? I've gone into System Preferences -> Display and there is no option to turn on mirroring.

AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, OS X 10.8 or better and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). TS3742 MacBook Pro 13" with Mountain Lion Freezing at login and getting Kernel errors

Ive been working on a friends MacBook Pro 13" with mountain lion for about a week now. It is having intermittent kernal panic errors on boot up only. It is also freezing up frequently at apple logo. Disk check passed, reformatted and reinstalled os. Switched out Ram. Still happening. Can anyone help.

My Macbook pro 2011 suddenly has a really slow bootup. What can I do? I did install a cannon printer upgrade and security upgrade. Not sure if it was something to do with that. Also I tried the disk utility repair and didn't improve anything. I also reset PRAM and SMC.

1. Try booting in e Verbose mode - press and hold [cmd] + [v] keys just right after the boot chord sounds till you get a black screen and white letters.
if there are some delays in the boot process - you should see where the system is stuck.
this mode is not permanent - the next [re-] boot will be normal.
2. repair permissions. disk utility does fine. Disk Warrior is better.
sometimes after half done updates (it may happen though should not) there are items that are "belonging to someone else"
3. try cache cleaner (or there are some other utilities as well - I just like SlCC more) http://www.northernsoftworks.com/snowleopardcachecleaner.html - it's shareware though the basic functionality is free for you to use.
Try caches -> deep cleaning (please read the developers site what it does) and select checkmark at all options - reply yes to the requests and after a reboot the next reboot should be as it is intended.
p.s be sure you do have backup

I know there are questions alike mine, but if anybody knows some new information on this, please let us know.

Now finally when I went to download Mountain Lion, I accidentally search google, and find out that AirPlay mirroring is only supported on early 2011 Mac Pro and later?
What are the earlier users going to do? I have an early 2009 model of the Mac Pro, and I just wan't to know if I'll be able to utilize the new AirPlay mirroring function or not, which determines whether or not I'm going to upgrade my OSX version
