    Don't use any cleaning spray. Wipe with a moist but not wet microfiber cloth.

  • My Macbook pro is not working properly. Help?

    This past week my macbook pro has been acting up. I can no longer empty my trash and every time I try I get an error code -50. I also can not move things to the trash or move any file on the desktop for that matter. For instance I can no longer drag anything on my desktop. I also can no longer change my background. I go through system preferences to the background, but when I select a new picture the background does not change. On top of all of this I can not download anything because it is saying that I do not have enough hard disk space, but I am not even using half of it. When I restart the computer it takes a long time to load up if it loads at all, and then I just have to shut it down and try to turn it back on. I am also not allowed to save any documents, I get a warning saying that the name I type is not a valid name. Lastly, the spotlight finder on the top right no longer shows up or works. These are all the problems that I have found so far. I have tried to do the utility disk check, but that just comes up as okay and doesn't give me the option to repair anything. What seems to be my problem and can I fix it?

    With the Finder active, press the following key combinations, in this order:
    Shift-Command-H
    Command-3
    Command-I
    The Info window for your home folder will open. Click the lock icon to authenticate. In the Sharing & Permissions section, you should have read & write access. If not, make it so. Regardless of whether you made any changes, select "Apply to enclosed items" from the action (gear icon) menu.

  • Macbook Pro Screen not working properly?

    I have a 2012 Macbook Pro without retina display. About a month ago some little kid was playing basketball out by the park where I was using it and the basketball bounced off the rim and hit my computer and broke my LCD screen So I brought it to a repair shop saying they could replace it for 250 dollars. Great! now we have another problem. The LCD has been replaced and the computer boots up just fine. But the external display has quit working... I don't know if it's just the LCD screen isn't working or if it's the actually display, the screen is just black... also they hooked it up to an another computer for display but now when it boots up it gets to the home screen, where you would usually click and account to log into, but there are no accounts!! I know they have gotten in just fine before because they called and asked about my files and such that I had open when the accident occurred... Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong with my computer?? I am not willing to pay and pay and pay to try to fix it if they don't know whats wrong.

    Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
    As those lines changes, I think that the problem is the graphic card, not the display, and in the case of the MacBook Pro, it's not better. The MacBook Pro has got most of its parts soldered into the logic board, including the graphic card, so if one soldered part, as the graphic card, gets damaged, the whole logic board has to be replaced, making the repair very expensive. The only solution is to take the Mac to an Apple Store or reseller

  • Macbook pro keYboard not working properlY

    Hello,
    I suspect mY kids split a drink over mY macbook pro. MY keyboard has several issues:
    -When I type lower case Y, I onlY get uppercase Y.
    -When pressing the spacebar I get a space but its followed bY a closed square bracket.
    -When pressing enter the function works but the forward slash character is displaYed.
    Does this mean I need to replace the keYboard, if so how can I find the part number for the keyboard.
    Thanks for support
    Shaun
    MacBook Pro (13-inch Early 2011), OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)

    Try an external keyboard to verify that the internal one is damaged.
    If it needs to be replaced, take it to an Apple store or service facility.

  • CoordinateMapper is not working properly when converting Depth into Camera then into Color Space

    Hello everyone,
    I am trying to map depth point to color space in the defined portion of the depth frame data in my Kinect v2. I am using CoordinateMapper for conversion between various spaces.
    Below is the snippet of the code-
    private void KinectMultiSourceFrameArrived(object sender, MultiSourceFrameArrivedEventArgs e)
    var reference = e.FrameReference.AcquireFrame();
    ColorFrame ColorFrame = reference.ColorFrameReference.AcquireFrame();
    DepthFrame DepthFrame = reference.DepthFrameReference.AcquireFrame();
    if (ColorFrame != null && DepthFrame != null)//Do not proceed, if any frame is expired
    ColorFrame.CopyConvertedFrameDataToArray(ColorFramePixels, ColorImageFormat.Bgra);
    Image<Bgra, byte> ColorFrameImage = GetBgraImageFromBytes(colorFrameWidth, colorFrameHeight, colorFramePixels);
    DepthFrame.CopyFrameDataToArray(DepthFrameData);
    CoordinateMapper.MapColorFrameToDepthSpace(DepthFrameData, DepthSpacePoints);
    for (int index = 0; index < DepthFrameData.Length; index++)
    ushort depth = DepthFrameData[index];// Get the depth for current pixel
    if (depth > depthMinReliableDistance && depth < depthMaxReliableDistance)//Ignore outside points
    CameraSpacePoint point = CoordinateMapper.MapDepthPointToCameraSpace(DepthSpacePoints[i], depth);
    //Some processing on CameraSpacePoint are cropped while putting the code here
    ColorSpacePoint colorSpacePoint = CoordinateMapper.MapCameraPointToColorSpace(point);
    DrawMarkInImage(ColorFrameImage, colorSpacePoint);
    ColorImgBox.Image = ColorFrameImage;// See the image
    if (ColorFrame != null) ColorFrame.Dispose();
    if (DepthFrame != null) DepthFrame.Dispose();
    //Convert the bytes into image using EmguCV
    Image<Bgra, byte> GetBgraImageFromBytes(int Width, int Height, byte[] Pixels)
    Image<Bgra, byte> Image = new Image<Bgra, byte>(Width, Height);
    Image.Bytes = Pixels;
    return Image
    //Draw circle (Just for debugging purpose)
    void DrawMarkInImage(Image<Bgra, byte> ColorFrameImage, ColorSpacePoint ColorSpacePoint)
    Point CircleCenter = new Point((int)ColorSpacePoint.X, (int)ColorSpacePoint.Y)
    ColorFrameImage.Draw(new CircleF(CircleCenter, 2), new Bgra(0, 255, 255, 255), 1);
    However, when I tried to converting the depth directly to color space, it works well. But since I am doing processing over CameraSpacePoint, I need to make above working.
    Somebody please tell me where is the error and how to resolve it.

    Hi Carmine,
    I apologize for this confusion. I am trying to process only a defined portion in the depth frame, which resides between MinReliableDistance and MaxReliableDistance. For the testing purpose, I kept my Kinect v2 in the table facing towards the floor at the
    height of 1 meter from the floor. Some objects are kept in the floor. Based on the depth information, I just want to mark their top face.
    I tried following two methods-
    Method1: First compare the depth and ignore the undesired depth points. Then find out CameraSpacePoint of this depth point. Do the processing, whatever is needed. Now convert this CameraSpacePoint into ColorSpacePoint and draw a mark on this point in the
    color image. Below is the code snippet-
    CoordinateMapper.MapColorFrameToDepthSpace(DepthFrameData, DepthSpacePoints);
    for (int DepthIndex = 0; DepthIndex < DepthFrameData.Length; ++DepthIndex)
    ushort Depth = DepthFrameData[depthIndex];// Get the depth for current pixel
    if (Depth > depthMinReliableDistance && Depth < depthMaxReliableDistance)
    CameraSpacePoint CameraSpacePoint = CoordinateMapper.MapDepthPointToCameraSpace(DepthSpacePoints[depthIndex], Depth);
    //some of the code is removed while putting it here
    ColorSpacePoint ColorSpacePoint = CoordinateMapper.MapCameraPointToColorSpace(CameraSpacePoint);
    if ((ColorSpacePoint.X >= 0) && (ColorSpacePoint.X < ColorFrameWidth) && (ColorSpacePoint.Y >= 0) && (ColorSpacePoint.Y < ColorFrameHeight))
    DrawMarkInImage(ColorFrameImage, ColorSpacePoint);
    DisplayImage(ColorFrameImage);
    MinReliableDistance is 676mm whereas MaxReliableDistance is 850mm. (Just for this setup)
    The above code doesn't work. It is unable to find out the objects standing in the floor. Please see attached image and notice the yellow marks are not in correct locations.
    Method 2: Just to check the setup, I tried this method but I can't go with this method further (Since I need the points in CameraSpace. In this method, I first check for valid depth point. Then corresponding color pixel is picked up from the ColorFramePixels
    using ColorSpacePoint. Below is the snippet-
    CoordinateMapper.MapDepthFrameToColorSpace(DepthFrameData, ColorSpacePoints);
    Array.Clear(DisplayPixels, 0, DisplayPixels.Length); //Clear pixels to black
    for (int DepthIndex = 0; DepthIndex < DepthFrameData.Length; ++DepthIndex)
    ushort Depth = DepthFrameData[depthIndex];// Get the depth for current pixel
    if (Depth > depthMinReliableDistance && Depth < depthMaxReliableDistance)
    ColorSpacePoint Point = ColorSpacePoints[depthIndex];
    int ColorX = (int)Math.Floor(Point.X + 0.5);
    int ColorY = (int)Math.Floor(Point.Y + 0.5);
    if ((ColorX >= 0) && (ColorX < ColorFrameWidth) && (ColorY >= 0) && (ColorY < ColorFrameHeight))
    int ColorImageIndex = ((colorFrameWidth * ColorY) + ColorX) * BytesPerPixel;
    int DepthPixel = DepthIndex * BytesPerPixel;
    DisplayPixels[DepthPixel] = ColorFramePixels[ColorImageIndex];
    DisplayPixels[DepthPixel + 1] = ColorFramePixels[ColorImageIndex + 1];
    DisplayPixels[DepthPixel + 2] = ColorFramePixels[ColorImageIndex + 2];
    DisplayPixels[DepthPixel + 3] = 255;
    Image<Bgra, byte> DepthFrameImage = GetBgraImageFromBytes(DepthFrameWidth, DepthFrameHeight, DisplayPixels);
    DisplayImage(DepthFrameImage);
    Please see the attached output image. You can notice the internal pixels are picked from color fame and outside pixels are black as expected.
    Output image of method 1. Notice the yellow marks are not in proper place. They should lie on the top face of objects
    Output image of method 2. Notice the unwanted area and top face of the standing object are black (as expected)-
    Hope is clears your doubt.

  • Output volume on my MacBook Pro is not working

    My output volume on my MacBook Pro is not working. When I go to "Settings", then "Sounds", then "Output", I can not slide the volume bar at all, or change it in the menu bar?

  • The sound on my macbook pro is not working

    The sound on my macbook pro is not working. When I increase the sound, the icon appears as if everything is working, but no sound comes from the speakers. Earphones don't work either. I have tried a PRAM reset but at times, this doesn't even work. It's really frustrating having to restart my computer every time I want the sound to work, and even when I do that, theres a 50 50 chance of it working again. It generally happens after my laptop goes to sleep and I wake it up. Has anyone else had this problem and fixed it or even know what caused it?
    There are a lot of discussions around the earphone jack but I have checked that. I've tried a PRAM reset which hasn't worked, and my sound output is set to Internal speakers.
    HELP!!

    Hopefully one of these steps should solve the problem.
    1. System Preference > Sound > Output > Internal Speakers
        Highlight  Internal Speakers / Headphones
        Make sure Mute is not enabled.
    2. Remove the headphone.
        If you see red light in the headphone port, plug the headphone
        in and out of the port 5 or 6 times to flip the microswitch inside.
        Sound output may be stuck in the digital mode.
    3. Reset SMC.     http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
        Choose the method for:
        "Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".
    4. Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup
        Audio Devices window
        Side Bar
        Click the Built-in Output.
        Under Mute any of the boxes checked? If so, uncheck it.

  • The sound on my Macbook Pro does not work.

    The sound on my Macbook Pro does not work.  When we press the volume buttons, the sound icon pops up, but the bar is full with a small "Does not work" circle below it, and nothing happens when I hit volume up or done.  I went into system preferences, but there aren't any options there that I can see to change it.

    "Unfortunately, it doesn't provide any help for a MacBook Pro, other than indicating to call Apple Support" (sic).
    Au contraire. TS1574's title and affected products are thusly:
    "Troubleshooting issues with no audio from built-in speakers on Macs
    Products Affected Mac mini, MacBook, MacBook Pro, iMac"
    As a result, the instructions of the article are relevant. To be sure, follow those steps, the last of which is to contact Apple.
    So, by way of reminder, here are the steps to troubleshoot the audio on your MacBook Pro. There is no red light, so the port is likely fine. Headphones work, so clearly your sound card is fine.
    1. Ensure an incorrect version of OS X is not installed. If one is, then reinstall or erase/install after backing up your data.
    2. Remove any external audio devices from USB, firewire, etc.
    3. Open Sys Prefs > Sound > Output
    If Internal Speakers is listed, select it and test again.
    If Digital Out is listed, confirm again that all external audio devices and cables have been removed.
    If mute is selected, unselect it.
    If the volume slider is low, raise the volume.
    If the above simply doesn't fix it, the issue may be a corrupted plist. Apple Support might be able to help troubleshoot the issue further, per the last step of TS1574.
    I hope it gets resolved for you. Good luck.

  • IMessage (Macbook pro) suddenly not working!?

    My imessage from my macbook pro is not working! When I send a message, it automatically displays a red exclamation point and the name of the person I am sending it to turns red. When I click on that it tells me that their number is not registered with imessage! I've sent imessages before (today even) and I don't know what happened. I think I may have messed with some preferences because I was trying to change security preferences, but maybe I accidentally clicked something I shouldn't have? I know it is me because I get the same error for every person I try to message. It works from my phone, though.

    This could be a complicated problem to solve, as there are many possible causes for it. Test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Back up all data before making any changes.
    Before proceeding, test on another network, if possible. That could be a public Wi-Fi hotspot, if your computer is portable, or a cellular network if you have a mobile device that can share its Internet connection. If you find that iMessage works on the other network, the problem is in your network or at your ISP, not in your computer.
    Step 1
    Check the status of the service. If the service is down, wait tor it to come back up. There may be a localized outage, even if the status indicator is green.
    Step 2
    Sign out of iMessage on all your Apple devices. Log out and log back in. Try again to sign in.
    Step 3
    Restart your broadband device and your router, if different. You may have to skip this step if you don't control those devices.
    Step 4
    From the menu bar, select
     ▹ About This Mac
    Below the "OS X" legend in the window that opens, the OS version appears. Click the version line twice to display the serial number. If the number is missing or invalid according to this web form, take the machine to an Apple Store or other authorized service center to have the problem corrected.
    Step 5
    Take the steps suggested in this support article. If you don't understand some of the steps or can't carry them out, ask for guidance.
    Step 6
    From the menu bar, select
     ▹ System Preferences ▹ Network
    If the preference pane is locked, click the lock icon in the lower left corner and enter your password to unlock it. Then click the Advanced button and select the Proxies tab. If the box marked SOCKS Proxy is checked, uncheck it. You don’t need to change any other settings in the window. Click OK and then Apply. Test.
    The result may be that you can't connect to the Internet at all. Revert the change if that happens, or if iMessage still doesn't work. Remember that you must Apply any changes you make in the preference pane before they take effect.
    Step 7
    Select from the menu bar
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Storage
    and click
    Block all sites from storing information on this computer
    Close the preference pane.
    Step 8
    Make sure you know the ID and password you use with iMessage. Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
    Use the search box in the toolbar of the Keychain Access window to find and delete all items with "iMessage" in the name. Log out and log back in.
    Step 9
    Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
    While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
    Test while logged in as Guest. After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
    *Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    If iMessage worked in the guest account, stop here and post your results.
    Step 10
    Boot in safe mode and log in. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
    Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including Wi-Fi on certain iMacs.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
    The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
    Test while in safe mode. After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and test again.
    If iMessage worked in safe mode, but didn't work when you booted out of safe mode, stop here and post your results.
    Step 11
    Reset the NVRAM.
    Step 12
    Reinstall OS X.
    Step 13
    If none of the above steps resolves the issue, make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or contact Apple Support.
